We do our best to provide information that will help determine if the animal might be a good fit for you. Please note that behaviors may change in a home environment. We also ask our applicants to assume that any animal they adopt from us will need to be potty-trained and learn house manners, although this is not always the case. In most cases, the listed breeds are also a best guess. Our online animal bios are designed to provide as much information as possible and answer some anticipated questions. We do not have the resources to respond to emails with more specific questions. We are receiving an unusually high number of applications at this time! Applications are reviewed as they are received, but we do not select adopters on a first-come basis. Our job is to ensure each pet is placed into the best fit home for them and that adopters are paired with an animal that is a good fit for their lifestyle. All animals will stay on Petfinder until they are “pending adoption”. Therefore, if an animal is still listed, we are still accepting applications for him/her! Please do not send inquiries about a specific animal's availability as this can change quickly over the course of the day. The fastest way to get a response is to simply submit an application! We will do our best to notify you by email if the pet(s) you are interested in are no longer available. New animals are posted daily, so please let us know if another furry friend peak your interest (there is no need to fill out a second application)! Fill out the application (DOG: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=26, CAT: https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=dr1937&method=online_form_html&formid=41, EXOTICS: https://us14b.sheltermanager.com/onlineform_view?formid=46) completely. It could take up to a couple of weeks for you to receive a final disposition on your application so there is no need to check on the status.-Introductions will be scheduled by appointment only, 30 minutes per appointment. The entire household, including current dogs, must be present for the appointment. (Note: Please do not bring your dogs if you are meeting cats!). The introductions will take place outside in our parking lot (or in our cat room if you're meeting cats).-We will continue to perform vet checks for current and prior pets in the household.-Finalizing the adoption will also be scheduled by appointment.Thank you for your understanding.

Story
Air Force is a gorgeous 2 year old shepherd mix who weighs 65 lbs. He is energetic and loves to play. He will even play ball with himself! Air Force gets along with dogs. Because of his high energy level the best match would be another dog who loves to play. He enjoys laying with cats but does on occasion chase them. He is housebroken and crate trained. Air Force has never lived with children, so would be best in a home with adults or teenagers. Please apply at poetanimalrescue.org if you are interested in providing an active, loving, forever home to this beautiful boy.

Story
Ranger is a young, extremely intelligent, playful, handsome GSD/Great Pyranese mix looking for a forever home. He has done wonderful learning manners and obedience at home, and is going through a training program with PRO K-9 with his brother. He has been raised with 3 dogs in the country in Carleton and gets along well. Ranger doesn't jump or get on furniture, or chew on anything he isn't supposed to--just his appropriate toys. He does great with grooming including the nail dremel and blow dryer. He's fully housebroken and crate trained. He eats on a regular schedule and has learned to wait patiently. Ranger loves to work with his people and would do best in a home with breed experienced who will continue his training as he matures. A home with a fenced yard, and no cats or no young children would be best. Born 5/3/23, he is full vaccinated including influenza, neutered, and in good health. Ranger can be alert and wary of strangers as these breeds can be. But he can be introduced well quickly in the home, and is working on more socialization and behavior outside of the home through his training. PRO K-9 will provide a free session to his forever home (within travel range) to help transition him and go over his training, and his extra large crate can go with him.
