Meet Athena! She is a beautiful, intelligent young dog looking for her next adventure—and a person who understands that love sometimes means patience. When you first meet her, she may approach with a lowered body and a cautious tail wag, but once she feels safe, her warmth and affection truly shine. Athena is incredibly food-motivated, gentle when taking treats, and knows her basic cues like sit and down with ease. She’ll gladly show them off for a tasty reward. Athena walks well on leash, though she’s eager to explore and may pull a little at first. She loves getting out and about, and she rides nicely in the car—perfect for an adopter with an active lifestyle who enjoys bringing their dog along for the journey. This sweet girl enjoys playtime, especially with squeaky toys, but what she loves most is being near her people. She’s used to spending time in a crate and settles once she feels comfortable, though she may need a little patience as she adjusts to being alone in a new home. Athena would do best as the only dog in the household. She’s shown some herding behaviors and has a high prey drive, so no small animals or cats for her, please. Because she can be nervous with new people and situations, a calm, dog-savvy adopter—and ideally a quiet home without young children—will help her thrive. Athena is bright and eager to please.
