Meet Eastwood! ૮₍ ・ ﻌ ・ ₎ა Eastwood is a shy and sweet little gentleman who loves to play with his brother just as much as he loves a good snuggle. Independent and lovable, Eastwood might take a second to warm up to someone, but the moment he does, he'll show you just how much he loves you—usually with a barrage of enthusiastic kisses! Sometimes he's a bit of a drama king with a big personality, but that just means there's more to love! He's a very intelligent boy who is already kennel trained and knows the command 𝘴𝘪𝘵. He's still working on potty training and walking on a leash, but with how quickly he picks things up, it won't be long before he's got those skills down too. He's also working on the command 𝘱𝘢𝘸, so that he can greet everyone with a polite paw-shake! Eastwood loves to reap the benefits of his brother's efforts by stealing the treats from their enrichment toys, exploring the backyard, and fighting over the same toys with his brother. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Ahri came to the shelter on 8/7/2026 as an owner surrender. Her owners' lives underwent some big changes, and they could no longer give her the time and attention she deserves. She is a large and mature dog who is around 8 years old and looks mostly like a white German shepherd. She also resembles a collie in some ways, and she is very sensitive and intelligent, as both shepherds and collies are. Her coat is thick, dense, and fairly long, and she has been bathed and brushed out by our volunteers. Ahri has now been vet checked and updated on bloodwork and vaccinations. She was previously spayed and microchipped and her fee is $125. We had to work with Ahri for several weeks after her arrival as she slowly started to adjust to the shelter. Her whole world was upended so it was understandable. She would do best in an experienced home with a securely fenced yard. Ahri will not be the type to jump into someone's lap right away, for sure, but with time and a lot of patience, she'll become a person's most loyal friend. She will shed and require plenty of brushing to prevent her coat from matting. She has had basic training and has done okay with male dogs of similar size. She has done okay with kids, too, but we do not know about cats. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications must be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org. We are located at 101 22nd St. SE in Austin, right next to the airport. It's exit 180B off of I-90, right off of 218 South. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Caesar, then about 3 years old, was originally adopted from our shelter in March 2020, not too long after his arrival, and he lived a happy life with his people for over 6 years. Sadly, his life changed drastically when both of his owners passed away over the course of a couple of years. In September 2026, family members had to make the truly tough decision to return Caesar to the shelter. We would like to see him back in a home as soon as possible. He has been updated on all vet work, thoroughly examined, and microchipped, and his fee is $125. He is in great health and it's hard to believe he is around 9 years old! Caesar appears to be a white German shepherd, if not a mix, and he looks great for an older dog. He's a sensitive, intelligent, and loving gentleman who has had some basic training. He's still pretty athletic and has been known to jump fences so a secure environment is important. He's well mannered and has done well around other calmer dogs and older kids. Cats? We're not really sure. He will also need some regular exercise, followed by some couch time. He would love a home in which someone is home most of the time. Help us find the perfect retirement home for this handsome and wonderful dog! NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.At only around a year old, Argo arrived at MCHS back in November 2022 from our friends at the Rescue Network after he was rescued from a Reservation in South Dakota. He is now about 5 years old and does have a lot of the trademark features of mixed breed dogs from Reservations - "Rezzies", as they are affectionately known in rescue. Like many Rezzies, he could be a mix of cattle dog and German and/or Australian shepherd, just to name a few possible options. He's a large, handsome and very active dog. He has been vet checked and neutered and his fee is $125. Argo has had some basic training and will require a lot of consistent exercise. This is of the utmost importance in order to keep him well balanced and happy. He does pretty well on leash walks and loves car rides. He's an affectionate guy, too, who thinks nothing of climbing into a person's lap if he gets the chance. He's incredibly smart and would be a lot of fun to train! Argo would do best in a home with a large, fenced yard. He's NOT a dog for apartment living. He's looking for an ADULT only, single person home as he tends to bond very closely to his person and becomes quite protective. No cats for him. Argo has been adopted and returned before, so we've had a bit of a challenge finding the correct fit for him and he's become a very loved, long-term shelter resident. Although he will need an adopter who is experienced and prepared for a dog like him, our volunteers have been rooting for Argo and would love for him to finally find the ideal home. NOTE:  Adoptions are done via private appointment once an application has been completed and approved. Applications can be submitted at our website, mchs.rescuegroups.org.
