I was saved by a trapper on the streets, they weren't even there to save ME that day, but they did!!! I am obviously a beautiful girl, big and solid as well as black and brindly. I am a loving girl, in my own way... i lived on the streets for who knows how long and I honestly am not a cuddly girl or even a sit by your feet dog, YET... I have all kinds of love to give, you can see in my eyes that I have always dreamed of someone with the patience to love me for who I am and who I can be!! I am great on a leash and do love walking around and exploring. I am good with other dogs and likely would do best with another dog who is calm and confident with his/her family. Always stunning in looks as a black mouth cut/Dutch shepherd mix (our best guess), she was shut down, shy, wary of raised voices & reaching hands, but never, ever mean. In her foster mom’s home, she has gradually come out of her shell. She now loves being hugged on, petted, brushed. She oh, so gently takes treats. She is great with other dogs, but her favorites to cuddle with are similar to her in size. She is very gentle with children, and extremely emotionally intuitive. This is Ruby, and she is a Belgian Malinois mix. She is a wonderful dog who loves sitting on the couch watching TV, longs walks, and making huge messes by taking the stuffing out of her toys. She is up to date on all of her shots and vaccinations with documentation and has been microchipped. She is house trained and very communicative of her needs letting us know when she wants to go outside, when she wants to be scratched, and when she wants treats. She is extremely trainable and food motivated and I have enrolled her in dog training classes centered around her behavior around other dogs. It would be best to continue that training as she is still a bit skeptical of other dogs and cats at times. She is somewhat low energy with most of her exercise goals being accomplished with a nice long walk a few times a week accompanied by training toys and lick mats, etc. She would do best in a single pet home or with someone experienced in caring for dogs!

Hi there! My name is Aksel, and I’m an 11-year-old German Shepherd gentleman weighing about 65 pounds. If you're looking for a loyal, easygoing companion who will happily follow you from room to room and keep you company throughout the day, I might just be your guy! I've spent nearly my entire life with my family, and they've taught me how to be a very polite housemate. I'm housetrained, rarely bark, know lots of commands, and walk beautifully on a leash. My hearing isn't what it used to be, but I'm a smart fellow who understands hand signals and even facial expressions! I'm a gentle soul who has lived with children, dogs, and cats. I'm even trustworthy around chickens! I generally get along with other dogs, although I appreciate a little personal space when passing unfamiliar dogs on walks. I still love my daily walks, short adventures, and occasionally fetching my stuffed animals. These days, about 30 minutes of walking is plenty. I have some arthritis in my hips, so rugs or carpeting help me get around comfortably. I can still manage stairs and hop into the car on my own, though! My ideal home would be with someone who enjoys having a devoted shadow. I can stay home alone without causing trouble, but I'm happiest when my people are nearby. A quieter household, a couple of short walks each day, and plenty of companionship would make me very happy. And if you're willing to let me sleep in your bedroom or snuggle on the couch? Well, that would be a dream come true! My family loves me dearly, but they're moving overseas, and the long flight would be too difficult for me at my age. They're hoping to find me a wonderful new home where I can enjoy my golden years. I don't need a huge yard or endless entertainment.
