Story
Leggs is a resilient 32 pound, 8 month old pup working hard to become part of the world around him. While he’s naturally timid because he was feral the first three months of his life, he’s been bravely approaching new challenges and turned into the most amazing dog at home. Leggs is very intelligent and sensitive. He’s a bit cuddler and loves wrapping himself up in a blanket and hunkering down with his soft toys. He’s fantastic on a leash and incredibly gentle with myself, my children, and other dogs (including my super senior). He tries to play with cats, but also respects their space. He is crate trained, goes to the door when he needs to go potty, leash trained, and doing well on basic obedience and threshold training. He’s done well on trips to the park, long-leash walking on nature trails, and trips to pet-friendly stores such as Petco. His perfect home would be one that understands his initial need to decompress. After that, you can expect the most loyal and intuitive companion. Leggs is being fostered in Texas but can be transported out of state. Hello, I`m Footprint! I`m about 3 years old and weigh roughly 63 pounds.** I`m a volunteer favorite and here`s why:`Such a sweet lady, so calm and loving.``She is a sweet girl who just wants some love. She thinks she is a lap dog but is just a bit big for that. She often has her tongue hanging off to the side when she is happy and relaxed.` **Do you like...Dogs? I`m a little nervous of other dogs and would need a very calm dog to help me get more comfortable. I need to meet any potential doggie family members before going home with them.Cats? It is unknown how I would do around cats. With a slow, proper introduction I might do okay.Kids? I would do best with kids old enough to respect my space, recommended kids 8+.Anything else you`d like us to know, Footprint? I can be a bit shy when I first meet someone but with a little time I will warm up and become you`re very best friend! I came into the shelter as a stray and the above information is all recommendations based on my behavior seen at the shelter. I have no known history. Jazzy was found on 4/17/2026 at the Toreros Restaurant in Springfield. She came into the shelter not yet spayed. If you believe this is your missing dog, please contact the shelter at (541) 689-1503. Since this dog is new to the shelter and we are still looking for their family, they are not viewable on the adoption floor at this time.The shelter staff is giving me some time to settle in and adjust to this new place. As we get to know each other a little better, the behavior team and veterinary staff will then be evaluating my needs. Please stay tuned for my updated information!Our shelter software requires that we choose a primary breed for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs can be unreliable and for most dogs we are only guessing at their primary breed.
