Dutch is believed to be a 2-year-old German Shepherd mix who spent MONTHS surviving on the streets. A dedicated team of volunteers tracked his hangouts, fed him, watched over him, and never gave up. He was even caught once by animal control — but jumped the fence and ran back to one of his “safe spots.” That’s how strong his survival instincts were. It ultimately took a professional darter and a committed village to bring him to safety. And now? You wouldn’t even recognize him. This is the same dog. Doesn’t try to escape his foster’s yard Stays close and checks in Loves toys (especially BALLS ) Obsessed with playing fetch Knows sit & stay Recall is improving (rabbits and balls are VERY exciting ) Potty trained Crate trained Leash trained Dog friendly (all sizes!) Loves respectful older kids Dutch is no longer surviving. He’s living. He will still need guidance and structure as he transitions into a new home — but he has shown us just how capable, loyal, and eager to please he truly is. I would love a doggie friend or even a jogger to take me out. I do know a few commands, am in excellent health, and can't wait to find my forever family. I have not met cats yet.
