Anne Bonny (AB) is guessed to be about 5 years old and weighs around 8 lbs. She came to us from Texas where she had been found with a large number of dogs in an abandoned house. We believe she did not have much human contact in her formative years and therefore has an extreme fear of handling. She is a very special girl who will need a very special home. AB is very shut down and scared. She will hide and tries to avoid contact- it is heartbreaking. She doesn't seem to have a mean or aggressive bone in her body, but due to her level of fear we recommend a very slow approach and taking time with her to prevent her from feeling in a position where she is in flight or fight and cannot flee. She has no reaction to the cats or dogs in the foster home, so we think she could co-exist fine with either. AB has been started on fluoxetine to try and help with her fear. We think she would do best in a quiet home without much activity or new people. She needs a patient person who will accept her as she is, but be willing to work with her to help her gain confidence and comfort with human contact. ABs adoption donation of $250 helps cover the cost of her vet care (spay, microchip, bloodwork). Adopters must live within a 1 hour driving distance from Romeoville, IL. Reference checks, vet checks, and home visits required. We do not do same-day adoptions. Email us with any questions info@perfectpooches.org. Hi there, my name is Huey, and I am a Chihuahua/Schnauzer/Terrier mix about 7 years old. I have been in the rescue for quite some time as it takes me a little time to trust people. I was abused in my past so on my initial meet and greets with new people I am unsure, and sudden movements make me scared and I get barky and growly. Once I get to know you and trust you can't get rid of me, I am looking for someone that understands it takes time for trust and won't push. Once we are BFFs, I am the most loyal, fun, sassy and most of all cuddly friend. I am looking for my forever home with somebody who is either a stay at home, work from home, or retired as I like to be with my people as much as possible. I am completely up to date on my vetting which includes neutered, rabies vaccine, distemper vaccine, Bordetella, negative fecal, negative heartworm, and microchipped. My ideal home would be with a fenced yard, and no other dogs. Meet Guy Smiley! He is guessed to be around 3 years old and weighs 11 lb. He is looking for a very special home who has lots of patience and desire to help save a dog that needs lots of understanding. Guy Smiley is extremely fear aggressive and will bite when scared. It took us months to even touch him, but now he will allow us to pet him. Building his trust takes a long time, lots of treats, and the skill and patience needed to keep both him and you safe. We don't want to sugarcoat it - he is a difficult dog - but we think with the right person we really believe he has the ability to flourish. He needs to be put under for nail trims. Guy Smiley is crate trained and he does amazing at going outside to potty. He gets along with cats and seems to be ok with coexisting with other dogs, but we haven't yet let him free with the other dogs to know how he is 100%. Based on what we have learned about him, we think he would do well with other dogs who would leave him alone. He really seems to like my 6 year old son - but he has not been allowed to touch him yet.
