Story
Meet Toby — the little dog with the biggest heart. Born on January 1, 2026, Toby truly is the perfect way to start a new year. This adorable Chi/Terrier mix is as sweet as they come, with delicate features, charming white "socks" on his paws, and a personality that wins people over instantly. Toby came to Starfish alongside his two sisters and quickly proved himself to be the gentle, caring big brother of the group. While his sisters have found their forever homes, Toby continues to shower everyone around him with kindness. Whether it's sharing toys, giving up his favorite nap spot, or welcoming new foster siblings, Toby has a natural way of making others feel safe and loved. His affectionate nature extends to people, too. Toby forms strong bonds quickly and loves being near his humans. Call his name, and he'll come running, eager for attention, cuddles, and companionship. If you're looking for a dog who will be your loyal shadow and best friend, Toby is ready for the job. Toby is also an easygoing, adaptable pup. He's doing wonderfully with potty training and will use his pee pads when needed. He gets along well with other animals but is equally content entertaining himself with a toy or relaxing nearby. Smart, thoughtful, and eager to please, Toby has all the qualities that make a wonderful lifelong companion. Toby currently weighs about 12 pounds and is expected to be around 20 pounds full-grown, though his exact adult size cannot be guaranteed. He is looking for a home with children 6 years and older. If you're searching for a sweet, affectionate, and well-rounded puppy with a heart of gold, Toby may be the perfect addition to your family. His forever home is out there—could it be yours? If you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $400 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs.
