Story
Hello, I'm Mila, a stunning little girl about a year old and I weigh 24 pounds right now, but I do need to gain a little weight. The nice volunteers here at the rescue tell me I am the perfect medium/smaller size pup to have! I may come across as a bit cautious and serious at first, but that's because I'm a sensitive soul who is simply looking for a leader to rely on. You see, I'm a little scared of fast movements and am still learning I don't have to be hand-shy, that I am safe now. But, once I feel safe and loved, I give the gentlest of kisses to show my appreciation and seek comfort from you. I'd really love a quieter, more predictable type home where I can truly shine. I need an adopter who understands that I may retreat when I'm unsure, and who has the time and patience to help me build my confidence and navigate my fears. Toys even scare me right now, those darn squeakers are so loud. With your guidance and love, I can't wait to blossom into a silly, confident girl and be your best friend. I would really like if you came to meet me, I can't wait to have a family to love. Could you be the one I've been waiting for? I will need an adult only home with my shy nature. If you are interested in Mila and are at least 21 years old, please come to our kennel during business hours, make an appointment, or fill out an application at k9stray.com and an adoption counselor will be in touch. We look forward to helping you find your new best friend! *Please check your lease agreements for breed/weight restrictions prior to applying. We also do not do cat testing, so we do not know how a dog will do with cats. Not all dogs are available to go home on the same day you first meet.*

Story
Rocket Man has been in rescue for quite a long time. Some people think that means there is something wrong with the dog. Not always the case - as with Rocket Man. He is a short, stout fella who loves people. All he wants is to be your buddy - to go on car rides and hikes- and sleep by your side. He has a great personality for being your number 1. He does live with another dog, but he would need to have a meet and greet with any other dogs. Why hasn't he been chosen? We have several ordinary looking dogs who are lingering in rescue. They aren't flashy with beautiful curls or long, fluffy coats and blue eyes. They are just ordinary looking. Don't be fooled by the black or brown dogs. They can be some of the most special personalities out there. All they need is a chance to show off. And that, in a nutshell, is Rocket Man.FOCCAS is a foster based, non-profit rescue in Crossville, TN. The adoption fee Includes Age-Appropriate Vaccinations (DA2PPV, Bordetella, Rabies), Deworming, Spay/Neuter, Microchip, Flea/Tick/Heartworm Prevention, and Sheltering. Adult Dogs are Heartworm Tested and Treated as Needed. FOCCAS does not DNA test or guarantee breed. My adoption fee (if picked up locally in Crossville, Tennessee) is $225. If transport is needed, my adoption fee is $525 (out of state, East Coast, Great Lakes or New England regions). Thank You for Your Interest in Adopting a Canine Companion from Foccas-tn.org! Story
Meet your future best friend, Veda 🐾✨ This puppy is a perfect bundle of energy, curiosity, and irresistible cuteness—but like all puppies, Veda is still learning how to be the best dog possible. Continued basic training will be needed, including leash skills, crate training, potty training, and everyday manners. With a growing body and a busy brain, puppies need structure, enrichment, and positive outlets for energy to prevent overstimulation, mouthiness, or the development of unwanted habits. A home committed to consistency, patience, and mental and physical exercise will help Veda grow into a confident, well-balanced adult dog. With the right foundation, the possibilities are endless! 💛🐶 -Around 6 months old -Currently under 30 lbs -Good with kids and dogs -Adoption fee: $300 This dog is currently housed at our shelter. If you are interested, please come in at your earliest availability during our open hours, no appointment necessary. Story
Meet Dina & Dante: A Bonded Pair Looking for Their Forever Home They are an adorable bonded pair of Chihuahuas searching for a patient, loving family willing to give them the time they need to blossom. While they can be shy when meeting new people, their sweet personalities shine through once they feel safe and secure. Dina is a 2-year-old bundle of personality. Once she’s comfortable, she’s playful, energetic, and always ready for fun. She loves going on walks where she can stop to sniff and explore the world at her own pace. At home, you’ll often find her zooming around, playfully tackling Dante during their wrestling matches, keeping the yard safe from squirrels, or stretched out in a sunny spot for a cozy nap. Dina is also a bit of a chatterbox and isn’t afraid to let you know if she needs something. Dante is a 3-year-old sweetheart with a gentle soul. He can be very shy at first, but once you’ve earned his trust, you’ll discover just how affectionate he is. Dante’s favorite way to show his love is by rolling over to offer his belly and asking for face rubs. He absolutely melts when you rub his ears and cheeks. While Dina may enthusiastically pounce on him during playtime, Dante’s response is usually to roll onto his back and happily let her win. His energy level is a little more relaxed than his best friend’s—he’s happiest napping in a sunny spot or quietly people-watching from a safe distance. One of his favorite pastimes is playing with his rope toy while lying on his back, making for an irresistibly adorable sight. He occasionally will serenade you with an adorable howl, or give a smile when he is excited to see you. Together, Dina and Dante balance each other perfectly. Dina brings confidence and playful energy, while Dante offers a calm, gentle presence. Their bond is undeniable, and they look to one another for comfort, security, and companionship. They would thrive in a calm home with adopters who understand that trust takes time. With patience, kindness, and plenty of love, you’ll watch these two transform into loyal, affectionate companions who will reward you with endless smiles, cuddles, and heartwarming moments. If you’re ready to open your heart to two deserving little dogs, Dina and Dante are ready to spend the rest of their lives showing you just how special a second chance can be. Story
Meet Happy. (The name is deeply ironic.) Happy is a 5-pound senior Chihuahua with approximately 13–14 years of experience judging everyone around her. After her owner passed away, this tiny tyrant found herself in an overcrowded Detroit shelter. We couldn't leave her there, so we scooped her up and brought her to safety. Since then, Happy has made her feelings about the world abundantly clear. Dogs? Absolutely not. Cats? Don't even ask. Children? She'd like to file a formal complaint. Strangers? Suspicious. You? Maybe. We'll see. Happy is looking for a retirement home where she can spend her golden years doing what she loves most: napping, eating gourmet meals, and silently evaluating your life choices from across the room. She isn't a cuddler. She doesn't want to play fetch. She doesn't care about your exciting day at work. What she DOES want is for her person to exist nearby at all times without making a big deal about it. Think of her less as a dog and more as a tiny, elderly roommate who pays no bills and occasionally screams at things. Happy currently enjoys a carefully curated menu of cooked hamburger and boiled chicken because she has standards. She is pee-pad trained but has occasional accidents and may need diapers in the future. She's earned the right to be a little high maintenance. Despite her spicy attitude, Happy deserves a soft place to land. Beneath all that Chihuahua sass is a little old lady whose world was turned upside down and who simply wants a quiet home to live out her remaining years in peace. Happy's Requirements: • No dogs • No cats • No children • No nonsense Happy's Stats: • Approximately 13–14 years old • 5 lbs. of pure audacity • Up-to-date on vaccines • Microchipped • Pee-pad trained • Professional nap enthusiast • Tiny dictator seeking her kingdom If you've ever thought, "I wish my pet loved me slightly less," then Happy may be the girl for you.
