Candice is currently with our partner rescue in Louisiana but hoping to come to NJ soon. We do offer a foster-to-adopt trial for approved adopters! Candice is a sweet, friendly girl who was found as a stray and never claimed. She likes other dogs and seems sweet and playful. Candice is fixed, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. Her adoption fee is $450.  Adopting a dog is a commitment that will require annual veterinary care at a minimum, training, exercise, enrichment, etc. Pet care is not cheap or easy and adopters should consider the costs, time and training prior to adoption. Story

Handsome Harley is a such an affectionate and loyal dog. His beautiful brindle coat and perky ears make him looks so alert and elegant. Harley loves to go on walks and walks nicely on the leash without pulling. At home he is calm and loves to cuddle with his favorite person. When no one is home, he is just goes and lays in his crate for some downtime. He knows basic commands. He is so easy to train since he is a smart dog who is food and affection motivated. He has the sweetest soul with a loving and loyal heart. Harley especially bond with women more easily; but takes his time to feel more comfortable with men. He will do best in a quite adult only, dog experienced family where there are not many visitors. He feels scared when new people come into the house and can be reactive in stressful situations. He needs somebody who is willing to take the time to help him, feel safe and not put him in stressful situations. Harley is dog friendly and currently lives with two other dogs. He is not tested with small animals or young children. Harley is around 5 years old, up to date of all vaccinations, neutered and microchipped. Story

Parakeet is a 1-year-old, 28-pound female mix from the NYCACC. Parakeet is very affectionate she loves having her head pet and scratched when shes comfortable. She is timid at first so she sometimes approaches cautiously, but then she immediately warms up to people - she'll rest her head on you for love and pets.  She knows "sit" and "look" and she's learning how to walk on a leash. She does pretty well on the leash unless there are people she wants to meet in which case she might stubbornly stand there, looking at them and wagging her tail to get a hello. She is smart and eager to please and will do great with further training. She is housebroken with the exception of a few accidents as she settled in but does know to go outside. She's incredibly sweet and has a very expressive face with her big ears, sweet puppy eyes and furrowed brow. She needs to put on a few pounds and has a healthy appetite in her foster home. She is verrry curious - she watches her foster mom around the house with frequent head tilts. She loves to people watch outside and watches every person and animal we pass on the street with interest and curiosity. She hasn't lived with another dog while in foster care but lived with 2 other dogs before she was brought to the ACC. We think she would do well with a dog sibling with a proper introduction. She does well in the crate, sleeps comfortably through the night, etc. Parakeet is a medium energy girl. She would be happy with long walks or probably a jog but she's also able to relax.  She's got puppy spirit which fits her nickname "Goober" perfectly. She's just a sweet little goof at heart. We can't wait for her to find a great home. Vaccinated for rabies, DA2PP, and bordetella. Heartworm negative and microchipped. Scheduled for spay on 2/29 through the ASPCA (Marcus Garvey Park - Central Harlem). Current on flea, tick, and heartworm prevention. Nation was dropped off outside a kill shelter after hours. We do not understand because he is such a good boy! Nation is a 10-month-old, Feist mix. A handsome boy, we expect him to mature to around 30 pounds. He wears a short coat of black and white which he loves having stroked! Nation is good with other dogs of all sizes, and cats. He loves to play with toys and to be cuddled in someone’s lap! Madonna is up to date on core vaccinations, is microchipped and will be spayed prior to placement in her forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Madonna is good with people and other dogs. This beautiful pup was rescued from a terrible life just days after her puppies were born. They are all safe now with our rescue where they will remain until the puppies are old enough to find their own homes. Madonna is a sweetheart!
