Story
Buckaroo is a neutered male mountain Feist/Smooth Fox Terrier mix, born about May, 2024. He is loving, bright and adores attention. Fox Terriers are smart and trainable and require some daily exercise to live their best lives. Buckaroo weighs about 14 lbs, is neutered, and is healthy. He’s from a former breeder who passed away, but while they look like purebred Smooth Fox Terriers, we don’t have any paperwork and so they could be a mixed breed. Buckaroo will make a loving and lovable companion who also happens to be adorable.  $75 This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: https://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina.     Optional transport is weekly.  After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.January 9, 2026, 12:48 pm

Story
A 2-year-old, 36-pound mix of Feist and Terrier, Lulu came to us from a hoarding situation. She's a lovely dog with a sweet personality who, upon first meeting can be shy, but will warm up quickly. She loves being stroked and loved; in fact, she's very affectionate. We think she's grateful that we brought her into rescue with us. She's been treated for heartworm and is ready to go home with you! How about it? Show her what a real home is like! (posted 12/29/25, ME) NO CATS, PLEASE. Adoption Fee: $395.00-- covers microchip, worming, all vaccines, monthly heart worm preventative, monthly tick/flea preventative, spaying/neutering, health certificate, and complete medical records. Transport Fee: $160.00-- We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip. We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs. **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. **January 17, 2026, 5:30 pm

Story
Meet Tyler 2–3 years old | 15 lbs | Arriving in Morristown, NJ on December 28th Tyler is a quiet, gentle pup who has already come a long way — and now he's ready to take the next step toward the loving home he deserves. He was rescued by The Sato Project from a heartbreaking hoarding case in Manatí, Puerto Rico, where he lived in a small home with more than 30 other dogs. After such a tough beginning, Tyler is now healthy and preparing to fly to Morristown, NJ, where he hopes a kind, patient family will be waiting to welcome him. Tyler is shy and timid, especially in new situations, but there’s a softness in him that shines through. With time, consistency, and gentle love, he will begin to trust and show his true personality — a quiet companion who just wants to feel safe. He would do best in a calm, understanding home, possibly with another gentle dog to help guide him. He doesn't need much — just someone who will give him space, patience, and the love he's never truly known. If you're the kind of person who finds beauty in helping a shy dog feel brave, Tyler may be your perfect match. To Adopt: Fill out an application at thesatoproject.org/applicationform. Questions? Email us at adoption@thesatoproject.org About The Sato Project: The Sato Project has been working hard since 2011 to rescue and rehabilitate the stray dogs of Puerto Rico, known locally as “satos.” To date, we’ve saved over 8,000 dogs and are committed to stopping the overpopulation crisis with spay/neuter and vaccination programs. Your adoption helps us continue this vital work.

Story
Meet Adrian! Adrian’s story is one of resilience, hope, and a second chance he truly deserves. He was rescued by The Sato Project from a horrific hoarding case in Manatí, Puerto Rico, where he lived crammed inside a home with more than 30 other dogs. Despite everything he endured, Adrian has shown incredible strength and a gentle spirit. Now healthy, safe, and thriving, Adrian is ready for his new beginning. He is estimated to be 2–3 years old and weighs 20 lbs — the perfect compact companion. This sweet boy will be flying to Morristown, NJ on December 28th to meet his future family and start his new life. Because of his past, Adrian will need a loving, patient, and understanding home — one that will give him time, kindness, and reassurance as he adjusts to a world that is finally safe. In return, he has so much love to give and is eager to bond with the humans who show him compassion. If you’re looking to make a real difference in a dog’s life and welcome a gentle soul into your home, Adrian is ready for his happily ever after.
