Story
Meet Tina, the 8-year-old foster pup who's equal parts adorable and quirky! With one ear perpetually perked up like she's always listening for the next adventure (or treat), this sweet girl has quite the personality! Tina's ultimate joys? Cozy naps and those irresistible butt scratches that make her tail wag in pure bliss. Don't let her love for lounging fool you—she's a pro on the leash, ready for relaxed strolls around the block. Around other dogs, she might let out a bark or two to say hello, but if they're laid-back, she's all about peaceful coexistence. Tina shines with kids, thanks to her gentle, easygoing nature, though she has a playful naughty streak—keep those Legos and small plastic toys out of reach, or they might become hers! If you're looking for a loving companion who's low-maintenance yet full of heart, Tina could be your perfect match!

Who needs an antennae to pick up all the good channels when you've got fabulous ears and the personality and fun style of lots of sitcoms rolled into one brindle body?! Meet Val, the gal who will be famous for her ears and great personality! Val is a Feist mix younger adult, weighing about 36 lbs, who can be a bit shy in new situations but settles in quickly and then is super quick to make friends and find fun all around. Val is young and energetic and would love an active family. She is a great size that will likely fit in your lap but can hike like a dog 4x her size. Val would do fine in a home with other dogs, and may find they help to build some confidence in new things, but would be just fine on her own too. Val is channeling all of the yummy stuff a dog should be through those big ole ears. Come and meet this fun ball of Feist! *Weekend Host Feedback: "Val was a fun little ball of energy! Riding in the car was not her favorite, but she eventually laid down and settled. She walks well on a leash, was very focused on the walk, and seemed to understand keeping a loose leash pretty quickly. She was unbothered by passing people or dogs. Only one accident the first night. Inside, she loves playing with toys and will keep herself occupied with stuffed toys and zoomies. She REALLY loves being outside. Val slept in the bed and was a huge snuggler!" **Hiking feedback: "She has puppy energy!  She was very focused on the walk and enjoyed jumping up high on a large fallen log. I think she’d do well with an active family and her petite size is just great". *Sleepover feedback: " Val was excellent about letting us know when she needed to go outside. She is such a love bug and always wants to be near you, whether you’re cooking dinner, relaxing on the couch, or going to sleep. She even slept in the bed with me, and I had absolutely no issues. She would do really well with an active family, as she loved going to the state parks to hike and would definitely enjoy having a backyard to run around in. Val also loves toys! We got her two stuffed toys (one she picked out herself!), and she did a great job keeping herself busy playing with them". *Additional feedback: "She’s playful, active, and incredibly affectionate — she would thrive with an active family who can give her plenty of love, outdoor time, and play. Val is an absolute joy and such a special girl". Latest Weekend Host Feedback: "We took two long walks, and she was oblivious to other humans and other dogs. Also, I have a bearded dragon at home, and she could not have cared less. Even when he was in my lap on the sofa, she was more interested in staring at wildlife on the porch or chewing her toys. (Her favorite toy was a stuffed llama that was the same size as her!) With her enthusiasm for squirrels, our initial walk was tough. She pulled but I made a point to stop each time she pulled until she started to recognize that a loose leash was preferred. She was quick to pick up on that, so with some practice, she'll do great on leash! I did not opt for a crate this weekend, & Val didn't seem to need it. She was happy to sleep on the couch at night with no issue. Also, she was alone in the apartment for several hours on Saturday & did wonderfully! She did not disturb ANYTHING in the apartment or have any accidents. I hope Val finds her forever home soon! She is a real sweetheart."

Newton is a gentle soul with a playful streak and a head tilt that’ll melt your heart. When his foster mom talks to him, he tilts his head side to side like he’s hanging on every word! Story
Meet PBJ — born October 17, 2025, this tiny girl is pure sweetness wrapped in fur! Quick Facts: Name: PBJ Breed: Chihuahua Mix Age: 2 months old Weight: 6 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes (but with proper and slow introductions) Good with Cats: Not tested Good with Kids: Yes (older, respectful kids since he’s a puppy) Energy Level: Medium to High Fence Required: Unknown About PBJ’s Breed: Our best guess is that PBJ is a Chihuahua mix. Chihuahuas are tiny dogs with bold personalities, known for their loyalty, confidence, and affectionate nature. Despite their small size, they often act like big dogs, making them spirited companions who bond closely with their families. An ideal home for a Chihuahua is one that provides gentle handling, consistent routines, and lots of companionship. They thrive in apartments or houses alike, as long as they are kept safe, warm, and not left alone for long periods. Because of their delicate size, they do best in households where interactions—especially with children or other pets—are calm and respectful. With love and patience, Chihuahuas make devoted little companions who bring big personality to any home. All About PBJ: PBJ is the snuggliest little pup, happiest when she’s being held close and showered with love. Like any playful puppy, she plays hard and naps hard, bringing joy and laughter to her foster home. She has a silly streak too—sometimes stealing socks—but it’s all part of her adorable puppy charm and something she’ll likely grow out of. PBJ especially loves tummy rubs and will flop over to show her belly, asking for affection in the cutest way possible. Her name has a special story: her foster mom shared a grilled cheese sandwich with PBJ’s mom, Goldie, as a way to build trust and friendship. From that sweet moment, PBJ got her name.  PBJ’s Highlights: • Sweet and snuggly, loves being held • Playful puppy energy, plays hard and naps hard • Sock stealer, with a mischievous but adorable streak • Affectionate, flops over for belly rubs • Special name story, tied to her mom Goldie’s journey PBJ is ready to find her forever family—a home where she’ll grow up surrounded by love, cuddles, and the joy of being cherished every single day. Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Meet Boomer — a 1&#226&#128&#145year&#226&#128&#145old, 16 lb Chihuahua mix with a tender heart, a silly streak, and a deep love for canine companionship.   Quick Facts: Name: Boomer Breed: Chihuahua Mix Age: 1 year old Weight: 16 lbs. House-Trained: Not yet Crate-Trained: No Good with Dogs: Yes (must have a companion dog in his forever home) Good with Cats: Likely ok Good with Kids: Preferably no – may do fine with older, calm children Energy Level: Medium Fence Required: Yes   About Boomer’s Breed: Our best guess is that Boomer is a Chihuahua mixed breed. Chihuahuas are bold, confident and loyal. They are affectionate with their people but can be wary of strangers but warm up quickly. They are intelligent and trainable, though they may be a little stubborn at times, but they keep it interesting! They are also known to be vocal and love to “chit chat”!   All About Boomer: Boomer is still working on his potty and crate training, but he does well when left uncrated with pee pads. Because of his rough and unknown past, he needs a little time to warm up and can be nervous around new people. He responds especially well to calm, gentle female energy and would do best in a kid&#226&#128&#145free home, as sudden movements can overwhelm him.   What truly helps Boomer shine is the presence of another dog. He gains confidence from canine friends, loves playing with them, and even shares his toys beautifully. He hasn’t met cats yet, but given how well he does with dogs of all sizes, he would likely do fine with feline friends too.   Boomer has a medium energy level—he enjoys playtime and long walks but isn’t overly energetic. Once he trusts the person holding the leash, he walks nicely and has an easygoing, submissive play style. He would thrive with an experienced, patient owner, ideally someone familiar with small dogs or hoarder&#226&#128&#145rescue backgrounds who can offer gentle structure and consistent training. Once Boomer feels safe, his personality blossoms! He becomes a silly, sweet little guy who loves carrying his lamb chop toy around, sneaking socks when no one’s looking, and soaking up chest and chin scratches. His zoomies before walks or after baths are absolutely adorable and show just how joyful he can be.   Boomer’s Highlights: 1 year old, 16 lbs, Chihuahua mix Needs a dog companion for confidence and comfort Best in a kid&#226&#128&#145free, calm home Medium energy, loves walks and playtime Nervous at first but becomes sweet, silly, and affectionate Good with dogs, likely good with cats Needs a patient, experienced owner Loves toys, snuggles, and showing off his zoomies   Boomer is a gentle soul who just needs the right person and the right dog friend to help him feel safe. Once he trusts you, he becomes the sweetest, funniest little companion—full of love, quirks, and charm.       Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/.
