Story
Cinnamon is a 5 month old, 12 lb Feist mix with a whole lot of sparkle and the happiest puppy personality! Quick Facts: Name: Cinnamon Breed: Feist mix Age: 5 months old Weight: 12 lbs. House-Trained: Working on it! Crate-Trained: Yes Good with Dogs: Yes (likes to play!) Good with Cats: No – she will bark at them Good with Kids: Yes (best with school-aged kids that she can’t knock over) Energy Level: High, very playful Fence Required: No Dog's Location: Fremont, NC About Cinnamon’s Breed: Our best guess is that Cinnamon is a Feist mixed breed. Feist mixes are known for their bright, energetic, and quick thinking nature, often blending the Feist’s traditional hunting instincts with a playful, affectionate temperament. They’re agile little athletes with sharp minds, making them fun, interactive companions who love exploring, learning, and staying busy. Many Feist mixes are deeply people oriented and thrive when they can be part of the action, whether that’s playtime, training, or simply being near their humans. Their ideal home is one that offers structure, activity, and positive guidance. Because Feists tend to be high energy and curious, they shine in environments where they can run, play, and engage their brains. A family that enjoys daily walks, outdoor adventures, and consistent training will help them grow into confident, well mannered dogs. They do well with respectful children, active doggie siblings, and homes that appreciate a spirited, affectionate companion who loves to be included. What to Love about Cinnamon: Cinnamon is all play, all joy, and all heart — whether she’s zooming around the yard, chewing her favorite toys, or curling up for cuddles with her humans! She is an active girl who’s eager to learn how to be the best puppy she can be, and she responds well to direction. She has a confident, dominant play style and is always ready for fun! She loves people and greets everyone with enthusiasm, but because she’s still learning her manners and can be a bit rough in play, she’d do best with kids over 7 who can handle her bouncy energy. Cinnamon would thrive with a doggie sibling who enjoys active play, though she’d also be perfectly happy as an only dog soaking up all the affection. She’s great with dogs who match her energy but tends to bark at cats, so her ideal home is cat free. Cinnamon is working on her potty training and doing well with consistency. She’s crate trained and settles nicely when left alone. She’s also learning her leash manners — she pulls a bit because she’s excited to explore, but she’s improving every day. With her zest for life, love of adventure, and cuddly nature, Cinnamon is ready to bring joy, laughter, and endless puppy fun to her forever family! Cinnamon’s Sensational Highlights: • 5 month old, 12 lb Feist mix with a bright, happy personality • All puppy energy — loves to play, run, chew, and cuddle • Active and eager to learn — takes direction well with consistent training • Confident, dominant play style and always ready for fun • Best with kids 7+ due to her bouncy, rough and tumble play • Dog friendly — thrives with energetic playmates but also happy as an only dog • Cat free home recommended since she tends to bark at cats • Working on potty training and improving with consistency • Crate trained and settles well when left alone • Learning leash manners — pulls from excitement but loves adventures Comprehensive details are provided in the dog's description. to ensure a smooth process, please submit a completed application through our website at: http://crisisdogsnc.org/dog-adoption/. Story
Looking for a grown-up best friend who's just as happy exploring the trails as he is snoozing on the couch? Meet Fermi! With his adorable salt-and-pepper face, floppy ears that pop right up when he's excited, and soft brindle coat, Fermi is one handsome guy. At about 26 pounds, he's the perfect medium-sized companion—easy to take along on adventures without being too big or too small. Fermi is a distinguished gentleman who already knows how to be a great housemate. He loves his crate and happily heads inside with a simple "crate" cue, where he'll quietly curl up for a nap both during the day and overnight. He's clean in his crate, appears to be fully house trained on a regular schedule, and walks beautifully on a leash, making him an easy companion whether you're heading around the neighborhood or out for a weekend adventure. An active home would be right up Fermi's alley. He loves hiking, exploring new places, and keeping an eye out for squirrels—his favorite wildlife! A large, securely fenced yard where he can stretch his legs would be a bonus, but regular walks and outdoor adventures will also keep this curious boy happy. He's excellent in the car too, making him the perfect co-pilot for errands, road trips, or your next hiking destination. While Fermi enjoys staying busy, he also knows how to relax. He's a big fan of cozy beds, afternoon naps, and snuggling up on the couch for some well-earned lap time after a day of exploring. He adores people and is always happy to stop for pets and attention. He's done well meeting young neighborhood children and tends to win over everyone he encounters with his sweet personality. Fermi also loves his toys and is perfectly content entertaining himself. Because he plays enthusiastically, sturdy toys are the way to go. He can be protective of his toys, so giving him his own space to enjoy them helps him feel comfortable. Around other dogs, Fermi is happy to peacefully share space but is generally independent and doesn't need a canine playmate to keep him entertained. He's simply looking for a family that will appreciate his adventurous spirit, spoil him with treats and comfy beds, and include him in life's everyday adventures. If you're searching for a loyal companion who's past the puppy chaos but still has plenty of energy for fun, Fermi may just be your perfect match.

Story
Say hello to your new BFF, Peanut! Small, but mighty, this 10-pound, 7-year-old Chihuahua has the silliest personality once he comes out of his shell. Peanut can be a little shy in new places, but once he feels safe, his goofy side comes out in full force. He loves following his favorite person around, gets the cutest post-walk zoomies, and is always ready to play. After he's burned off some energy, he's happiest relaxing with plenty of head scratches. This handsome little guy is fully house-trained and crate-trained. His crate (or any cozy little "cave") is his safe space while he settles into a new home. He's also a dream on walks. He doesn't bark at other dogs or people and is happy to stroll right by your side. Peanut will need a neuter and dental surgery, both of which Hope will cover. Other than that, he received a clean bill of health from the vet! Last but not least, Peanut wants his future family to know that peanut butter and Slim Jims are the way to his heart. If you're looking for a loyal little shadow with a silly personality and so much love to give, Peanut is ready to meet you! If you are interested in Peanut, click Apply for Adoption! Story
Tito is a tiny 5.5-pound Chihuahua with a big personality and an even bigger story. This little survivor was originally found living on his own in the woods, and it took rescuers quite a bit of time to safely capture him. By the time he arrived at the shelter, Tito had clearly learned how to take care of himself — and he carried that “big dog” attitude right along with him! Like many Chihuahuas, Tito has that classic spicy charm. He knows what he likes and isn’t shy about letting you know. He’s currently living in a foster home with several other dogs and has happily taken on the role of the boss. Tito is looking for a special adopter who understands Chihuahuas and appreciates their bold personalities. He has been adopted twice before and returned, so we want to be completely transparent: Tito needs an experienced Chi owner who knows and loves the breed’s quirks. He does best in a home where someone is around a lot, or in a home with other small, very submissive dogs for company. Tito doesn’t enjoy being left alone as the only dog and may bark if he’s lonely, so apartment living may not be the best fit if he’ll be alone for long periods. The good news? Tito has plenty of wonderful qualities to balance out that sass. He walks nicely on a leash and has the cutest little prance when he strolls along. Even better — when he gets excited, he smiles! It’s absolutely adorable. Bedtime is Tito’s favorite time of day. Like any true Chihuahua, he loves to burrow under the covers and snuggle up close to his person to stay warm. He is house-trained and goes outside, but since small dogs have small bladders, he’s also comfortable using a pee pad. If there are other dominant male dogs in the home, he may mark, so a belly band or little pants may be helpful. Once Tito bonds with you, he becomes incredibly sweet and loyal. He’s the kind of dog who will be your constant companion — a sometimes spicy, always devoted best friend. Tito would thrive in a quiet, stable home without small children. Cats are okay! After being moved around so much, he deserves a place where he can finally settle in and feel secure. Adoption Fee: $200 Tito is fully vetted and microchipped. If you think you might be the right match for this tiny character, please reach out to mjrsince1975@yahoo.com learn more about adopting Tito! Story
🐾 Thatch - A Loyal Little Shadow with a Big Heart Meet Thatch, a 3-year-old, 24-lb Dachshund/Labrador mix with a sleek dark brown coat and an adorable white patch on his chest — and just enough personality to steal your heart. Thatch is a sensitive, thoughtful guy who likes to take a moment to size up new situations. On leash, he can be reactive toward people, but with patient handling and continued training, he’s making great progress. Give him a minute to warm up and you’ll quickly see his true self: a devoted, affectionate best friend who just wants to be near his people. We are currently in the process of working with a trainer to help build his confidence with meeting new people! Thatch absolutely loves other dogs and would thrive in a home with another friendly or playful pup to show him the ropes. He enjoys playing with toys — both with humans and his dog friends — and when he gets excited, he does the cutest little prance with both front legs that will make you smile every time. He’s fully potty trained and leash trained, sleeps well in his crate at night and when left alone, and is a dream work-from-home companion, happily lounging nearby while you tackle your day. Thatch would do best in a home: With no kids With another dog who has a calm or playful temperament With adopters who are confident, patient, and committed to slow, thoughtful introductions to new people Thatch likes to know who’s around so he feels safe — and once he does, he becomes an extreme cuddler. He loves building cozy blanket forts, exploring the backyard, rolling in the grass, and soaking up the sun. If you’re looking for a loyal companion who bonds deeply and will reward your patience with endless love, Thatch might just be your perfect match. Apply to adopt Thatch today!
