Story
Meet Susye — A Young Girl Ready for a Home of Her Own Sometimes the best dogs have the hardest beginnings. Susye’s second chance began when a Nashville Fire Department EMT realized that the homeless woman caring for her would not be leaving the hospital. He could not bear the thought of this young dog being left with nowhere to go, so he brought Susye home and made sure she was safe. For the past three months, Susye has been living with her firefighter foster dad and his four dogs. She has been a happy, peaceful addition to the family and has settled into home life beautifully. She is crate trained when needed, loves using the dog door, and enjoys spending time in the fenced backyard. Now fully vetted and spayed, Susye is turning 8 months old this month and is ready for a forever home with the stability she deserves. She weighs 43 pounds. We believe Susye may be a Feist, Rat Terrier, or Jack Russell Terrier mix, possibly with some herding breed influence. She is bright, active, affectionate, and eager to be part of whatever is happening. Like many young herding and terrier mixes, she will do best with regular exercise, engagement, and continued training. Although Susye adores her foster dog siblings, they are all older. Her foster dad cannot help but think she would especially love a home with a younger, playful dog companion who can match her energy and enjoy growing up alongside her. Her firefighter foster dad also works 12-hour shifts, and caring for five dogs has become more than he can reasonably maintain long-term. Susye is loved and safe, but this was always meant to be her stepping stone—not her final destination. She would thrive with a family that can give her companionship, consistency, playtime, and plenty of opportunities to use her smart young mind. A securely fenced yard would be wonderful, and another playful dog would be a big bonus. Susye has already experienced more uncertainty than any puppy should. Now she is ready for the part of her story where she belongs somewhere for good. ccrtennessee@gmail.com PLEASE NOTE:   Our dogs and cats are fostered in Tennessee and can transport weekly up to the Northeast region.  Request an application and learn more about Critter Cavalry at https://www.crittercavalry.com/adoption.October 16, 2026, 3:05 pm

Story
Meet Fizzbo! When you first lay eyes on Fizzbo, you can't help but notice his mesmerizing brown eyes that seem to radiate with joy and excitement. There's something about the way he carries himself, with a spring in his step and a wag in his tail, that instantly puts a smile on your face. Despite being in the middle-age stage of his life, Fizzbo exudes a youthful energy that is infectious to anyone around him. One of Fizzbo's favorite pastimes is playing with other dogs and children. He is always up for a game of fetch or a romp in the park, making him the perfect companion for an active family. When it comes to training, Fizzbo is a pro. He walks great on a leash, sits on command, and is extremely treat motivated, making him a quick learner and a joy to work with. But beyond his playful antics and obedience, Fizzbo is also a loyal and loving companion. He is always ready to be by your side, whether you're going for a walk in the neighborhood or lounging on the couch watching TV. With Fizzbo as your partner in crime, you'll never have a dull moment. So why wait? Come in and meet Fizzbo today. With his adorable looks and charming personality, it's impossible not to fall in love with this lovable pup. Have other pups at home? Bring them with for a meet and greet. Fizzbo is up to date on vaccines, microchipped, and neutered. ##2205060##

Story
Meet Sweet Pixie from Dixie! This beautiful young adult is only 2-year-old girl, 26-pounds and considered to be a Jack Russell and Feist mix who is as sweet as can be!   Through no fault of her own, this precious girl found herself at a small rural Tennessee shelter after her beloved owner passed away and the family did not step up to care for her.  This is happening so often and it is just sad as can be.  Can you imagine how confused that Pixie must be with her whole world turned upside down and being left at a noisy concrete floor shelter in a small kennel run.  So far from the comfort of a home and loving human who made her the center of their world.  Critter Cavalry Rescue wants to change the for her and what we need is a foster home at least or better yet, a forever family to give her a new chapter in her book of life.  Pixie deserves a family who will love her, cherish her, and give her the happily ever after she deserves. She is good with other dogs and we can cat test if needed. She is housebroken and not sure on crate training but that could be done easily with such a young and smart little girl. She didn't ask for her world to change, but we hope we can help her find happiness again.   Please contact Critter Cavalry Rescue if you can help in any way.  Email us at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live, city and state.  We can transport to the northeastern corridor of states every weekend from our Tennessee foster homes.  This girl needs a foster home at least and we will pay for food and all vetting done.  If you can help please email or text 615-661-5333.   Could you be the person she's been waiting for?October 16, 2026, 3:05 pm

Layla at a glance: Crate trained Almost fully potty trained Working on leash manners Smart, fun, and full of lifeLayla is the total package for someone looking for a dog who’s equal parts fun and affectionate. She’s been waiting her turn… and we think it’s time someone finally says, “That’s my girl.” Available dogs are met by pre-approved adopters ONLY after a match is made. Story
Meet Chloe & Marley — 18 pounds of personality between them! These two little cuties came to Russell Rescue together, and they are just about as adorable as they come.Chloe is a tiny 7-pound girl, estimated to be between 8–11 years old. She is spunky, curious and full of personality. She loves treats, toys, exploring and finding the perfect cozy spot to settle in.Marley is about 11 pounds and around the same age. He has tons of energy and enthusiasm. He loves going for walks, snuggling, eating (an important hobby!) and curling up for a good nap when the fun is over. Both are great with other dogs and have adjusted beautifully to being part of a pack. They came into rescue together and would love to find a home together, but we also want to find the right situation for each of them.If you have a soft spot for little dogs with BIG personalities, Chloe and Marley might just be your perfect match. They are available through Russell Rescue of Tennessee. Please share and help us find these two the homes they deserve!#RussellRescueTN #AdoptDontShop #FosterDogs #RescueDogs #NashvilleDogs #TennesseeDogsMeet Marley and Chloe!  Their previous owner told us they’re 11 years old, but I’m going to need her to check her math—because there is NO WAY. These two have more pep and personality than dogs half their age. Marley is about 13 pounds and runs around like a puppy. He’s happy, healthy, and just an all-around fun little guy. He loves going for walks, snuggling, eating (of course), and settling in for a good nap when the excitement is over. And then there’s Chloe—or Chloe 2, as we call her—because she looks almost exactly like a Chloe I fostered for well over a year. She’s a tiny 7-pound ball of spunk. She runs along the back of the couch, prances around the house, loves her treats and munchies, and happily entertains herself with toys. Both are great with other dogs and have settled in beautifully. They even slept comfortably in separate crates. Ideally, we’d love to see Marley and Chloe adopted together, but unlike some bonded pairs I’ve fostered, they don’t seem overly dependent on each other. I do think they could be happy adopted separately into the right homes. They are seriously the funnest, sweetest little things—and apparently no one has told them they’re supposed to be seniors. Marley (aka Thunder) the male/neutered is approximately 13lbs.  He suffers from seizures maybe 1 every 3 to 6 months.  He is not on medication as I never noticed it controlling his threshold.  He maintains with midazolam at the onset of his seizures.  They generally are mild tremor like with some leg stiffness/wobbling when walking.  He also is partially blind from an old injury Available dogs are met by appointment only and pre-approved adopters ONLY.Our dogs are currently in a foster homes which can answer your questions better than anyone else. We promise our fosters that we will qualify all potential adopters before we ask them to communicate with potential adopters. The application is the first step. Pleae complete the adoption (or foster) application here: https://www.russellrescuetn.com/application-for-adoption/You will be contacted if further information is needed. We are 100% volunteer powered.
