* To be considered for a meet/adoption, please read the full biography to see whether they may be a good fit for your home, then submit an online application at www.dpsrescue.org.* This dog will be at the Pet Food Express Pet Fair - San Jose North on Saturday, September 12th and Sunday, September 13th from 10AM–3PM both days. 5148 Stevens Creek Blvd, San Jose All DPS Rescue dogs are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, dewormed, flea/tick treated, and microchipped prior to adoption. Adoption fee: $700 Meet Mixmaster, affectionately known as Mixie! This adorable 3–4 year old Flat-Coated Retriever mix sprinkled with a few other breeds weighs around 25 pounds and is the perfect little blend of playful, curious, and independent. Mixie is a busy girl who loves to know what’s happening around her. From the moment she arrived at her foster home, she was ready to explore! She quickly checked out the backyard and, within minutes of meeting her foster brother, the two were running and playing together like old friends. Mixie seems to enjoy the company of other dogs and would love a playful canine sibling in her forever home. Mixie has a fun personality and a nice balance of energy. She enjoys short bursts of zoomies and playtime, followed by naps, backyard exploring, and relaxing with a good yak cheese chew. She isn’t necessarily a Velcro pup or constant cuddler, she’s perfectly content relaxing in her dog bed but she does enjoy being part of whatever is going on. She loves going for walks and takes her job as neighborhood scent inspector very seriously! She may pull a little at the beginning because she’s excited, but settles into a nice walk afterward. She sleeps peacefully through the night in her crate and has been comfortable being left alone for a couple of hours with a chew. Mixie also knows how to use a doggy door. Her biggest area for improvement is house training. She is still learning that potty time needs to happen outside and will need a patient family willing to continue working with her. She also tends to inhale her meals, so a slow feeder would be a great addition to her routine. Mixie would thrive in a home with a secure yard where she can explore, play, and burn off some of her youthful energy. A playful doggy sibling would be an added bonus! We don’t yet know how she feels about cats or children, so those introductions would need to be handled thoughtfully.
