Meet Onyx  Once just a number on a euthanasia list, Onyx was waiting on a cold shelter floor at Contra Costa Animal Services—unsure if anyone would come for him. It’s hard to understand how a dog this gentle, this loving, could have come so close to losing his life simply because he was overlooked. Life hasn’t been kind to Onyx. He didn’t deserve to be abandoned, and he certainly didn’t deserve to feel invisible. And yet… his spirit never broke. Onyx is about 4 years old and weighs around 45 lbs. We believe he may be a Flat-Coated Retriever or Newfoundland mix—whatever his breed, he is absolutely stunning, both inside and out. He’s vaccinated, microchipped, and neutered. Despite everything, Onyx still loves people. He still trusts. He still leans in for affection and just wants to be close to someone who makes him feel safe. He can do well with other dogs when introduced properly, but more than anything, he’s craving a person to call his own. What Onyx wants is simple, but powerful: A home. A soft place to rest. A human who won’t give up on him. He will give his whole heart to the person who chooses him—and he’ll spend every day proving just how much that love means. If you can adopt, foster, or foster-to-adopt Onyx, please reach out to the rescue. And if you can’t, sharing his story could be the reason someone else does. Please don’t let Onyx be overlooked again ✨         June 12, 2026, 11:47 am

Story
Hi there! My name is Millie, and I’m a 7-month-old pup weighing 37 pounds. The shelter thinks I’m a Flat-Coated Retriever mix — but whatever I am, I’m 100% adorable! I’m a happy-go-lucky girl who is equal parts fun, sweetness, and puppy silliness, with just the right amount of spunk mixed in. Since being rescued by GRCGLA Rescue, I’ve been having the best time playing with other dogs and soaking up all the love from the wonderful volunteers caring for me. Everyone who meets me falls for my cheerful personality and playful spirit. I’m still just a baby, so I’m excited to keep learning, growing, and discovering how wonderful life can be with a family of my own. Now all I need is a forever home filled with love, adventure, belly rubs, and people who will cherish me for the rest of my life. Could that be you?I am all recovered from my spay surgery and officially ready for my forever home! Luckily, while I wait, I get to spend my days at what I like to call Doggie Disneyland — and I LOVE it here! I get to join group play with all the other big dogs and spend my days running, wrestling, and play play PLAYING! I’ve also made a special friend here. His name is Grover (he is also waiting for his forever home), and I’ve decided he is definitely my boyfriend. But even more important than having a boyfriend is finding my forever family — one that’s active, fun, and excited to include me in all of life’s adventures. I’m looking for people who want a happy, energetic pup by their side for walks, playtime, outings, cuddles, and lots of love. I’m ready to bring laughter, joy, and nonstop tail wags into my forever home. GRCGLARescue adopts within the counties of Los Angeles, Ventura, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino and San Diego. Because we do require pre-adoption screening and post-adoption follow-up, we cannot support adoptions outside of this service area. If you have a current application on file and would like to inquire about this dog, please email adoptions@grcglarescue.org. Otherwise, please make sure to complete the online adopter application found at http://www.grcglarescue.org/adopt before sending your inquiry.

Story
Meet Benjamin! This boy is seriously impressive. We can’t believe how well-behaved he is for a puppy—such a good boy! Not only is Benjamin incredibly obedient, but he’s also wickedly smart. He’s picking up on commands quickly and eager to please. Benjamin is truly the perfect pet. He’s playful, affectionate, and full of love to give. Benjamin can be selective with other dogs, so we'd prefer him to be the only pup in the home. We absolutely adore this guy, and we know you will too. Come meet Benjamin and see for yourself why he’s such a special pup! &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143   This is a courtesy post.
