Story
Hi there! I'm Cookie, and I'm on the hunt for a loving forever home to call my own. Can you help me find one? My foster mom describes me as a well-behaved, sweet, obedient gentle giant who is 6 years old. I am housebroken and sleep soundly in my crate at night. I also walk nicely on a leash and do not jump up when meeting people. I am good with doggies of all size, you can see me meeting my foster mom neighbor's dog. I like to chase rabbits and not sure about cats and kids under 5. Additionally, I take treats gently and am very quiet. I'm an excellent walking partner, but at home, I prefer to laze around. Toys don't intrigue me, and I'm not a big fan of playing fetch, but you could teach me eventually..... If you would like to meet me, please call Teri at 630-897-7454. My adoption fee is $225. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Introducing Fay, a 10-month-old retriever mix who is ready to find her forever home! This sweet and timid pup is currently residing at the shelter, working on building her confidence and overcoming her fears. This clever pup is highly food-motivated, making her an excellent candidate for learning new tricks and basic obedience skills. With some yummy treats as motivation, Fay is sure to impress you with her intelligence and eagerness to please. Fay's ideal home would be one that understands her needs and is willing to help her grow and flourish. She would thrive in a household with another confident dog as a role model, as they can guide her and show her that the outside world is a safe and fun place to explore. As Fay can be easily startled by loud noises and cars driving by, a closed-in backyard would provide her with a safe and secure environment. This will allow her to gradually overcome her fears and help her feel more at ease in her surroundings. If you are a patient and compassionate person looking to make a positive impact on a shelter dog's life, Fay could be the perfect match for you. With time, love, and understanding, Fay will surely blossom into a confident and happy companion. Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things she will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in her mouth are all part of the puppy experience. And, be prepared for the time and money for frequent trips to the vet during the first few months so she can get up to date on her boosters and vaccines. But most of all, be prepared for all of the LOVE, puppy kisses, and joy she will bring into your life. I am an All-Star dog! My adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and I will go home with my very own no pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get us off to a good start. To learn more about me or to schedule an appointment to meet me, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! I hope to meet you soon! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (6 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians.

Story
Meet Jan, the adorable eight-month-old retriever mix who is currently waiting for her forever home at our shelter. Jan is a sweet and affectionate pup who loves snuggling with her favorite humans. However, she is currently experiencing fear and anxiety when it comes to the outside world. Given her timid nature, Jan would thrive in a home environment where she can feel safe and secure. She would particularly benefit from the companionship of a confident and calm dog or a fenced-in backyard where she can explore and play without feeling overwhelmed. Jan is incredibly motivated by food, which makes her an excellent candidate for training. With the right guidance and positive reinforcement, she has the potential to become a well-behaved and obedient companion. Whether it's basic commands or more advanced tricks, Jan is eager to learn and please her new family. At the shelter, Jan loves nothing more than tearing up stuffies and having energizing zoomies sessions with her sister Fay. These playful moments bring out her youthful spirit and showcase her zest for life. With the right playmate, Jan will undoubtedly bring lots of joy and entertainment to her new home. If you're looking for a loving and playful addition to your family, Jan could be the perfect match. Her snuggling abilities, along with her potential for training and love for play, make her an exceptional dog waiting for the right person or family to give her the love and stability she deserves. Come meet Jan today and see if she steals your heart! Socialization, training (including house training), and exercise are just a few of the things that she will look to you for. Chewing, teething, and learning what is Okay and not Okay to put in her mouth are all part of the puppy experience.
