Story
Hi, I'm Danielle! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email info@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 0. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

Story
Meet Booth – Your Loyal, Four-Legged Shadow Booth is a breathtakingly handsome 6-year-old Labrador mix whose warm, soulful eyes and bright, beaming smile can melt even the frostiest of days. This gentle boy has a heart as big as his goofy grin, and he’s always happiest when following his favorite humans like the world’s most devoted shadow. If you’re walking from room to room, don’t worry—Booth will be right there, trotting beside you, ready for whatever adventure comes next. His absolute favorite pastime? Sniffy walks—lots of them. Booth’s nose is basically a professional detective, and he approaches every outing with the determination of a pup on an important mission. Every blade of grass is a clue, and every breeze carries a new story just waiting to be uncovered. Booth adores his people deeply, but he needs a moment (and a little patience) to warm up to new faces. Once he trusts you, though, he loves with his whole heart. For this reason, Booth would truly thrive in a home with family members aged 12 and up—people who can help nurture his confidence, respect his boundaries, and give him the steady love he deserves. He’s a pup who blossoms in a calm, understanding environment where his mind stays active and his body gets to move. Whether it’s enrichment games, fun training sessions, or outdoor adventures, Booth is all in. He has so much sweetness, loyalty, and quiet devotion to offer—he just needs the right person or family to let him shine. When it comes to canine buddies, Booth is a bit selective. But once someone earns the title of “friend,” they’re his buddy for life. With the help of a patient canine friend at the shelter, Booth has gained tons of confidence—so much so that he now ventures into water (yes, even the Fox River!) and boldly explores new areas he once found intimidating. Watching him grow is truly special. Booth’s Favorite Things Long, exploratory sniffy walks Tasty jerky treats Snuggly cuddle sessions Squeaky toys (the louder, the better!) Cues Booth Knows Sit Stay Touch Let’s go! Recall Booth is an All-Star dog! His adoption comes with some extra benefits at time of adoption. Their adoption appointment includes a discussion with our Training Team, and they will go home with their very own no-pull-harness and a few enrichment goodies to help get them off to a good start! To schedule an appointment to meet Booth, email info@ahconnects.org (please include your name and phone number), and the staff will be happy to help you! Our dogs and puppies go home spayed/neutered, microchipped, heartworm tested (7 months and over), and up to date on core vaccines, heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Their adoption also includes a free-vet exam at one of our participating veterinarians. Ask fosters@ahconnects.org about fostering Booth, while he waits for his forever home!

Meet Dalilah, a 2-year-old Labrador Retriever mix who is full of love! Dalilah is a sweet and playful girl who adores attention and pets. She loves spending time with people, whether it’s playtime, snuggles, or just hanging out by your side. Her friendly personality and happy-go-lucky spirit make her a wonderful companion for anyone looking for a joyful and loving furry friend. If you’re ready for a playful, affectionate pup who will brighten every day, Dalilah is waiting to meet you! When I arrived at Anderson Animal Shelter from their partner shelter in Oklahoma, I tested positive for Heartworm. The staff believes that the best place for Heartworm positive dogs like me to be while going through treatments and recovering is with a loving and forever family like yours. If you choose to adopt me, the clinic staff will be with you every step of the way, answering questions and offering support. The process from detection to the final treatment is generally three months and involves some simple at-home steps to keep me safe while I recover. The last step in the process is a follow-up test six months after my treatment begins. The Heartworm treatment process is highly successful and the staff anticipates that I will fully recover! Yeah! And you should know that Heartworm can only be transmitted from animal to animal by mosquitoes. Stop in and meet my cute self in person during our adoption hours. For more information, email bloomingdale@ahconnects.org or call us at 847-697-2880 x: 90, and the staff will be happy to help you. I hope to meet you soon! Fable is a gentle-hearted sweetheart with a soft soul and a playful side. She's still building her confidence around other dogs, so while she’s open to making furry friends, she’d appreciate slow introductions and a calm, understanding companion. If you have a resident pup at home, we recommend bringing them along for a meet-and-greet to make sure it’s a perfect match! Fable’s favorite things? Pup cups, chicken treats, and a good game of toss-the-stuffy — she’s got a silly streak that shines through when she’s playing! After playtime, she’s all about the snuggles, happiest when curled up next to her favorite human. Stop by during our adoption hours.
