Story
Goliath is everything his name promises — big, bold, and full of heart — and starting with the letter “G” couldn’t be more fitting! This 5–6-month-old black Lab mix currently weighs 33 lbs and GROWING, and he’s every bit the goofy, good-natured “toddler” you’d expect. Goliath is curious about everything and loves to get into a little harmless mischief in the name of fun! He’s a true Lab at heart — happiest when carrying his leash or proudly trotting along on walks, often stopping to find the perfect stick. He walks beautifully on leash with tail-wagging pride and pure joy. Goliath has already learned to sit, is crate-trained, loves a good game of fetch, and never tires of “organizing” (a.k.a. emptying) his toy basket. Despite his size, he’s incredibly gentle, endlessly loving, and, of course, wonderfully GOOFY. He may look full grown, but don’t be fooled — he’s still just a big baby who’s ready to learn, love, and grow with his forever family. If you’re looking for a loyal, silly, and affectionate companion who’ll bring laughter and warmth into your life, Goliath is your guy I f you are interested in adopting/meeting this pup , please complete our online adoption application that you can find here: https://www.starfishanimalrescue.com/adopt/dog-adoption-application  . Your application will be reviewed by our team and if it is a good fit, we will send to the foster family to set up a meet! The adoption fee of $550 will include spay/neuter, microchip, age appropriate/required vaccinations, treatment for heartworm and any other necessary medical treatment to assure a healthy new pup for your family. IMPORTANT DISCLAIMER: Although we do our best to describe breed, since our pups all come from shelters we can not and will not make any guarantee on breed or size. We can tell you that they are 100% RESCUED! And that is the BEST breed! *please note that we are a foster home based rescue and we do home visits as part of the adoption process - we are unable to adopt to families who live outside of the Chicago and surrounding suburbs. Thank you for your understanding.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 12, 2025, 4:52 pm

Meet Cosmo This adorable guy has the spunk and spirit of a typical pup. His mom was unfortunately run over and he had to have a little help being bottle fed until able to eat on his own. You would not know it by looking at him or in his glowing personality. Cosmo is always up for a romp during playtime. He is also one of the sweetest snugglers. Cosmo has grown to adoption age in the same wonderful household and his foster mom would love to give you all the details on his daily life. Cosmo is well socialized and would do great in a home with or without dogs and/or with or without children. If you are looking for a dedicated family companion, you can’t go wrong with this cutie. Once adopted, Cosmo will transport with Rescue Vet Transport to his new forever family (additional $185). If you would like to give him a life time of belly rubs please follow the link below to our adoption application. Please note, our volunteer team works very hard and they are very responsive so please submit your application only when you are ready to welcome your new furry friend. https://forms.gle/APKvbgFJcaRvgKgk9

Story
Age/Birthdate: 08/05/2023 • Current Weight: 45lbs • Breed Guess: Black Lab mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adoption fee: $350 Any Medical or Special needs: No Temperament: Dogs: Highly social and LOVES other dogs! Cats: unknown Strangers: Has never met a stranger in her life! Loves EVERYONE she meets! Children: She has only met 2 kiddos (ages 4 & 6) so far and she sat nicely and let them pet her! Training needs: Crate trained: Yes Housebroken: Yes Willow is an OUTGOING Lab mix weighing in around 45 pounds at about 2.5 years old! This girl has NEVER met a stranger- whether it's a new dog or a new person, she loves them all making her a GREAT option for a multidog home! She is very active and LOVES to play with toys, play fetch, run around the yard, and go for walks! She would also make an excellent running buddy! While she is about 2.5, she has a lot of puppy energy so she would love another young dog to run and burn energy with (having two energetic dogs is actually a perfect combination as they just wear each other down)! As she has puppy energy, she also has some puppy behaviors like jumping and leash pulling. If you're up for taking a basic training class or two, Willow is down to train as she LOVES treats and is SUPER eager to work making her easy to train! Currently, she is working on "sit", "stay", "leave it", and "off"! If you are looking for a super social, larger than life personality, Willow is your girl! She is bound to fill your life with love and of course, smiles (just look at how cute her smile is)! If you're interested in meeting outgoing Willow, please fill out the application below! https://www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt This dog is currently located in Chicago's southwest suburbs and can be seen by appointment once an adoption application is completed and approved by the rescue. Story
Age/Birthdate: 06/22/2024 • Expected Weight: 42lbs• Breed Guess: Lab/Shepherd mix • Fully Vetted: Yes • Adopt fee: $300 Any Medical or Special Needs: None Temperament with: Dogs: Good, playful Cats: Curious, wants to play Children list specific ages: Great! His foster family has a 6 month old grand kiddo who he's great with Strangers: Great! Training Needs: Crate Trained: Yes but is such a god boy so he doesn't need to be crated! Potty Trained: Yes Fig is a PLAYFUL Lab/Shepherd mix weighing in around 45 pounds at about 1.5 years old! This happy, high-spirited boy is FULL of love and excitement and can’t wait to enjoy life with a family of his own! As a result of his time in the shelter, Fig is reactive towards dogs he doesn't know and needs slow introductions to new dogs! However, once Fig gets to know another dog, he gets along wonderfully with them and LOVES running and playing in the backyard and sharing ropes or squeaky toys with his fur friends! Fig has no food, toy, or water aggression towards people or other dogs but will sometimes “collect” the leftover treats and hoard them for himself—though a simple “no” is all he needs to give the treats back to his friend! He enjoys talking during play time and when he hears outside noises, Fig is sure to speak something- his motto is see something say something! Though he needs slow introductions with other dogs, Fig absolutely LOVES people AND kids! His foster family has a 6 month old grand kiddo who he's great with but he does LOVE giving face kisses so little kiddos beware as you're going to be given a lot of kisses lol! Fig is also good with cats and lives with three! He can be playful with the kitties so if you're looking for a companion for your cat, Fig is definitely a good option! Fig is a smart boy who knows “sit,” is working on “down” and “stay,” and doesn’t need a crate as he’s trustworthy when left out, aside from occasional curiosity involving garbage or counters (he’s a bit nosey lol)! He’s fully potty trained, sleeps quietly through the night, and enjoys car rides, though he’ll bark at people and dogs he sees outside- again, if he sees something, that boy is saying something! He does well with a prong collar while out and about; without it, he tends to pull because the world is just so exciting but if that's not your jam, you can easily train him to walk on another type of collar! While on walks, Fig is reactive on leash toward other dogs, but with slow introductions, he becomes absolutely amazing with them! Additionally, with some redirection and desensitization training, Fig can be trained to not pay any mind to other dogs - Fig is still young and eager to learn and this is definitely something that can be trained out of him! Speaking of training, this boy is so enthusiastic about people and does jump up when excited and LOVES to lick faces, so continued manners training will help him keep improving! He tolerates baths and rain even though he’s not a fan, but he LOVES the snow and will happily romp around in it! His ideal home would be active, possibly with kids or another playful dog, and with a family that understands he’s still a baby who's learning and growing! Fig is smart, curious, and treat-motivated (Trader Joe’s liver treats are his favorite!) and with structure and patience, he’ll continue blossoming into an incredible companion! The best part about Fig is that after a day of zooming, exploring, and playing, he’s a TOTAL cuddle bug—if you have a comfy chair, he’ll curl right up with you. If you’re looking for a fun, energetic adventure buddy who will snuggle hard at the end of the day, Fig is your guy! If you're interested in meeting playful Fig, please fill out the application below! www.rubywhiskers.org/adopt Please only apply if you are ready to meet and welcome a new companion into your home within five days of approval.
