Story

***Special needs. She was hit by a car and had several hip surgeries. She needs joint supplements and may eventually need some support for her back and in the form of a wheelchair support vehicle!*** Meet Jenny! Jenny is a 2-3-year-old foxhound, whippet, pointer and jack Russell terrier mix!! She was hit with a hit by a car within the first year of her life. She was turned over to a shelter in South Carolina who contacted us because we are well-known to help with special mobility needs dogs. Of course, we said yes. Jenny has endured two hip surgeries, on the same side of her hip for both of them. The first surgery was a female femoral head osteotomy commonly known as an FHO. The surgeon removed the head of her femur and made a pocket in the hit muscle as a replacement. She also removed many bone fragments as well. It took Jenny nearly a year to recover from the first surgery and then it was determined she needed another! The second surgery seem to do the trick and removed a lot of scar tissue and extra bone growth that had become painful for her. Jenny is a happy-go-lucky girl. She’s always on the lookout for bunnies and squirrels, that’s the hound in her! She loves to play with other dogs, but big dogs that are rough can be a little much for her although she can hold her own! She does well playing on grass but a lot of walking on concrete will need some special care to make sure that her back legs don’t drag. She uses both our back legs very well, but will always have some mobility issues. She often tends to walk sideways when she gets tired! Jenny has gotten along well with all her other foster dog siblings. Jenny hasn’t met a stranger and also has been great with the children she’s met. As well as the cat in her foster home. Jenny is very well crate trained and housetrained although her accident has left her with urgency when she needs to go outside to potty. And Jenny walks well on a leash and loves to walk the neighbourhood looking for anything that moves! We feel that Jenny is ready for her forever home after over a year in her rescue foster homes. For immediate consideration, please attach your application to the initial inquiry to help us expedite the process. Our adoption fee is $525. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Howdy Doody, wonderful people in the Northeast! I am a very handsome Hound mix with a heart of gold! I am about 2 years old, weigh 46 lbs, and, in typical Texas style, I was dumped on the street with 2 other dogs in Bulverde, Texas. It was awful… the police and a bunch of people were trying to round us all up, and the other 2 dogs were running in different directions, but I was the easiest, and the first one to be captured, immediately landing a wonderful foster home. These days, I am neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, happy, healthy, and ready to be someone's forever dog! I am a sweet, happy, friendly boy, a bit shy at first, but I warm up quickly. I’m a great playmate with my dog buddies, enjoying playtime or a good game of tug-of-war with anyone, whether human or dog. I am food motivated, love treats, dog toys, and being around my people. I’m affectionate and will share kisses. I love going for walks, runs, road trips in the car, or any fun outing with the family. I am well-behaved and good in a home, already housebroken, only bark to alert you, and I don't guard my food or toys. I’m good in a crate, not scared of thunderstorms, and at bedtime, I’m sleeping on a dog couch with some of the other foster dogs. Yep, my foster parents say I’m a lovable, good-natured boy who will make anyone proud to call me their own, a total keeper for sure! Inquire about me today! Hello Northeastern people! I’m a pretty Foxhound mix, about 3 years old, 37 lbs, and through no fault of my own, I was sitting on death row at the San Antonio Animal Care Shelter in Texas. Thankfully, before my 3-day stay expired, I was saved by 4 Little Paws Rescue, and it turns out I’m lovely, both in appearance and personality. I have a 4” scar on my right side, but it does not bother me. I am spayed, vaccinated, microchipped, healthy, and happy, and ready to find a forever home! I am a very sweet girl, shy and submissive initially, but once I feel safe, I’m playful and silly, and my love for life is written all over my pretty face. I have a medium-low energy level and love the outdoors, rolling in the grass, basking in the sunshine, hopping around with my doggy playmates, and playing with toys. I am very affectionate and snuggly, and I enjoy lying my head on your lap and cuddling in bed beside you. I don't know how to bark or howl, but when I try, it's a quiet noise, and I sound like Chewbacca, LOL! I am housebroken, love going for walks, don't mind a car ride, and I am good in a crate with a playpen attached, which is currently my safe space. My foster mom says I’ll be very timid at first, almost desperate for love, enjoying a safe space where I can watch the goings on, and get familiar with everything and everyone new. I opened up pretty quickly at my foster home with walks through the grass where I could roll around, and I already understood some boundaries.
