This precious young pup named Tavio was adopted just over a year ago from a rural shelter and was recently brought back in as a stray. He was found running loose and no one has reclaimed him. Tavio is a shy and sweet boy. He will warm up quickly once he feels safe and can trust his surroundings. He will need a patient person or family to provide a stable home. ***Special needs. She was hit by a car and had several hip surgeries. She needs joint supplements and may eventually need some support for her back and in the form of a wheelchair support vehicle!*** Meet Jenny! Jenny is a 5-6-year-old foxhound, whippet, pointer and jack Russell terrier mix!! She was hit with a hit by a car within the first year of her life. She was turned over to a shelter in South Carolina who contacted us because we are well-known to help with special mobility needs dogs. Of course, we said yes. Jenny has endured two hip surgeries, on the same side of her hip for both of them. The first surgery was a female femoral head osteotomy commonly known as an FHO. The surgeon removed the head of her femur and made a pocket in the hit muscle as a replacement. She also removed many bone fragments as well. It took Jenny nearly a year to recover from the first surgery and then it was determined she needed another! The second surgery seem to do the trick and removed a lot of scar tissue and extra bone growth that had become painful for her. Jenny is a happy-go-lucky girl. She’s always on the lookout for bunnies and squirrels, that’s the hound in her! She loves to play with other dogs, but big dogs that are rough can be a little much for her although she can hold her own! She does well playing on grass but a lot of walking on concrete will need some special care to make sure that her back legs don’t drag. She uses both our back legs very well, but will always have some mobility issues. She often tends to walk sideways when she gets tired! Jenny has gotten along well with all her other foster dog siblings. Jenny hasn’t met a stranger and also has been great with the children she’s met. As well as the cat in her foster home. Jenny is very well crate trained and housetrained although her accident has left her with urgency when she needs to go outside to potty. And Jenny walks well on a leash and loves to walk the neighbourhood looking for anything that moves! We feel that Jenny is ready for her forever home after over a year in her rescue foster homes. This includes their spay/neuter surgery, full (age appropriate) vaccinations, microchip insertion and registration, deworming, heartworm testing and prevention, flea and tick prevention and travel expenses. All of our dogs are rescued from local shelters and the general public. Each dog is then placed in a foster home where he/she is kept for quarantine, to ensure if the dog gets sick it can receive proper treatment. We have foster homes in the NJ/NY area waiting to receive their fosters. Once an animal has received an application or there's an adopter interested, we make arrangements for transport. If a dog is already in foster care in NYC/NJ, an adopter will be put in touch with the foster home AFTER an application is being processed. Located in Tennessee but can be transported to you through Rescue Riders Transport Company. This is a wonderful gal!! She is very friendly and loves people. She likes to talk, play with other pups and be hugged by anyone! She would be a great adventure companion for any family. She has done well on a leash and in a car. She will need all of the basic training but should learn quite fast. She is ready to go!

For such a young mom, the shelter was no place to raise her babies. Thankfully, caring foster families stepped in and gave Nanna and her puppies the safety, love, and care they desperately needed. Now that her puppies have moved into their own foster homes, Nanna is thriving. After spending months focused on raising her babies, she’s finally getting the opportunity to relax, play, and enjoy life for herself. Her foster family says she has blossomed into a happy, gentle girl who loves being around people and other dogs. She is really coming out of her shell and showing that she is only a puppy herself. Nanna lives with several other dogs in her foster home and gets along wonderfully with all of them. She enjoys their company and has settled beautifully into family life. She also adores kids and has shown herself to be a loving, patient companion around children. This sweet girl loves going for walks and does very well on a leash. She’s learning the routines of indoor living and continues to make great progress with house training every day. Meet Ziggy. This 4-year-old, 57-pound pup is likely a Foxhound/Cattle Dog mix who came to us from another regional shelter after being found as a stray. Ziggy has a classic hound voice—he’ll let out a signature bay when he gets excited—but what really stands out is how much he loves people. He’s incredibly affectionate, a total wiggle-butt, and never misses a chance to give kisses or even a standing hug. He takes treats gently and, while not a big foodie, is still motivated enough to enjoy training time. Ziggy already knows “sit” and “paw,” and he’s 100% housebroken. He rides great in the car and has done really well in a foster home. He’s friendly with strangers and seems to enjoy canine company as well. He would likely do great with kids and can be cat tested if needed. He’s not a fan of the kennel and would much rather be out with his people. He can be a bit strong on leash and has been known to do some counter surfing, but he responds well to correction and will benefit from continued structure and training.
