Not good with cats, Needs experienced adopter,
Story
I adopted Marcy at 8 weeks old on October 1st, 2023. I was told that the mom dad were calm growing up but I didnt see them in-person since they were barking. Marcy has always done great during car rides with her kennel and hasnt experienced getting car sick. Shes a rambunctious silly girl full of energy and loves food. She learns incredibly fast and when shes focused and has a stare that can shatter bones. Super high energy and vocal. Loves to play fetch for hours. Unfortunately, she does not get along with my cat that Ive had for years. Ive been trying slowly to have them in the same room together but it causes her too much stress and discomfort. Im not sure if its jealousy or if she just doesnt like cats but Im afraid something would happen if Im not home. She does have a bad habit of herding, separation anxiety and has fear aggression. Had 6 weeks of basic obedience at PetSmart. She used to have a lunging problem but has done better since training.

Story
Choco is a sweet, energetic and wonderful dog. Born June 12, 2023, he's fully vaccinated, nuetered, microchipped and in excellent health. He's had puppy training classes and knows commands. Whether he chooses to do them is not always certain. He's potty trained, good with older kids, loves toys, treats, walks, fetch and tug-of-war. He's good with other dogs. Our old tiny dog gets annoyed with him because Choco just wants to play. Choco adores our Lab mix and they play often. The only reason we are looking to rehome Choco is that he loves cats a bit too much. We have cats who are experienced with dogs and Choco chases and plays too roughly with them. It's not out of meanness or cruelty. He just gets so excited and doesn't know to be gentle with them. And he has a strong chase instinct. None of this is his fault. He's done well in his puppy training classes, though he can be chatty and vocal when he wants someone's attention. No adoption fee. I just want him safe and loved forever.

Story
Foxy was trained in a program for 12 weeks where a dog rescue brings their dogs in to a California Penitentiary and the incarcerated individuals then train the dogs. Foxy has alot of energy she is a great dog, however, our landlord will no longer allow us to have 2 dogs on the property. The property management company changed and this is a new rule that we have to abide by. Foxy loves attention and she gets along great with other dogs, children and people. She RARELY barks and she LOVES playing fetch. She is incredibly acrobatic and very coordinated. She is a very very smart dog. She is house trained and loves to go for walks. She is kennel trained at night. We do not want to bring her to the SPCA. We are hoping to find her a loving home on this site. We will provide her kennel, her bed and her records. Thank you for taking the time to learn about Foxy.

NOTE: COOPER IS WITH HIS OWNERS AND GSRSV HAS NOT MET HIM. WE ARE LISTING COOPER WITH OUR OWN DOGS ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HIM MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE CONTACT MELISSA BOLANOS AT 707-334-9320 OR MELISSA.BOLANOS4062@GMAIL.COM. "Cooper" is an approx. 100-lb, 2-yo neutered male GSD who is playful, friendly and energetic. Cooper is healthy and up-to-date on core vaccinations. Cooper is friendly with strangers but is very exuberant and sometimes jumps up on them. He likes to play with children but is a bit too rambunctious for small kids. Cooper is good with other dogs but plays too rough for the likes of little dogs. (He lives with two Chihuahuas but overwhelms them.) Cooper has NOT been around cats and will likely not do well with them given his high energy level. Cooper’s people keep him outside primarily so they can’t really say if he’s fully housetrained. However, they let him sleep inside the garage. Cooper received basic obedience training at Petco when he was about eighteen months old. He walks OK on leash and obeys basic commands like sit, lie down and shake. Cooper loves to go for rides in a vehicle. Cooper loves to play to play with balls and toys and to play keep-away. He also loves to bite the water stream from a hose. Cooper’s people (Alan & Melissa) adopted him from a friend about six months ago. Though they love Cooper, they are now seeking a new home for him because Cooper’s habit of jumping up on people has created a health hazard for Melissa, who suffers from arthritis and has very weak knees. Cooper is located in Martinez, CA. His adoption fee is $100. Please contact Melissa Bolanos at either 707-334-9320 or melissa.bolanos4062@gmail.com.

NOTE: HEIDI IS AT THE MUNICIPAL ANIMAL SHELTER IN FREMONT, CA. GSRSV HAS HOT MET HEIDI. WE ARE LISTING HER WITH OUR OWN DOGS ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. "Heidi" is an approx 55-60 lb, 2-3 yo spayed female GSD mix who is sweet, gentle and somewhat goofy. Heidi is healthy and up-to-date on core vaccinations. Heidi is somewhat timid with new people, but once she warms up she adores human company. She does wonderfully with children. Heidi does great with other dogs and cats as well. She lived with a cat (see picture on couch) for two weeks in a foster home. Heidi is fully housetrained and when she was in her foster home she even used a bell by the door when she wanted to go outside. She slept on a dog bed next to her foster caretaker’s bed. Heidi is very needy and wants to be with her people all the time. However, when she was in her foster home, her people kept her in a closed room with a baby gate protecting the door and Heidi caused no damage. Heidi is still learning leash manners, but with a Gentle Leader she walks like a pro. Heidi loves car rides and is a very chill passenger. A couple found Heidi last December as a stray in the Quarrey Lakes Regional Recreation Area in Fremont, CA. They fostered her for two weeks but were unable to keep her beyond that time so brought her to the municipal animal shelter in Fremont, where Heidi is currently located. The couple grew very fond of Heidi is the short time she was with them and they are now actively trying to find somebody to adopt her or a rescue group to pull her from the shelter. If you would like to speak directly with the people who found and fostered Heidi, please contact Martin Huang at 513-687-8826 or martinhuangcwp@gmail.com. To contact the Fremont shelter regarding Heidi, call 510-790-6640 or e-mail animalservices@fremont.gov and refer to Heidi's ID #: 187662,

NOTE: MAVIS IS AT THE BERKELEY ANIMAL SHELTER. GSRSV HAS NOT MET MAVIS. WE ARE LISTING HER WITH OUR OWN DOGS ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. "Mavis" is a 3-yo spayed female GSD available for adoption at the Berkeley animal shelter. Mavis is a wiggly, friendly, playful dog. She is very outgoing and will be the life of your party. She loves attention! Mavis has met several dogs, sometimes playing, most times more interested in the humans, but pleasantly coexisting with other dogs at the very least. Mavis will make a great exercise buddy, since she has plenty of energy and is very polite on leash. Mavis is a favorite among volunteers and staff at the shelter and is always smiling at her kennel door, ready to go for a walk. Shelter staff "have not seen any negative behavior or anything that would prevent her from being adopted"; she's simply getting overlooked in a shelter full of dogs. Mavis was found as a stray and brought to the shelter on 12-12-23. Mavis' adoption fee is normally $125, but all adoption fees are waived through January! For more info on Mavis or adoption instructions, please contact Berkeley Animal Services at animalservices@berkeleyca.gov or (510) 981-6600.

NOTE: ASPEN IS AT THE BERKELEY ANIMAL SHELTER. GSRSV HAS NOT MET ASPEN. WE ARE LISTING HER ALONG W/ OUR OWN DOGS ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. "Aspen" is an approx 14-mos old spayed female GSD mix available for adoption at the Berkeley animal shelter. Aspen is incredibly sweet but also very timid of new people and busy environments. Once Aspen becomes comfortable with a new person she bonds strongly and wants to stay right by their side. Aspen is comfortable around other dogs, wanting to to play. Aspen walks nicely on leash but can become fearful and pull when she sees strangers or encounters things like bicycles. She's also fearful walking through unfamiliar doors or gates. Aspen spent a week in a foster home with a High School volunteer during the December holiday break and displayed good house skills. Due to her shyness, Aspen does not present herself well at the shelter and it is difficult for her to connect with potential adopters in the short time they spend with her. However, if you have the patience to earn Aspen's trust, you will be rewarded many times over. Aspen was found as a stray and brought to the shelter on 11-30-23. Aspen's adoption fee is normally $125, but all adoption fees are waived through January! For more info on Aspen or adoption instructions, please contact Berkeley Animal Services at animalservices@berkeleyca.gov or (510) 981-6600.
