Story
Caly is a beautiful, athletic young dog. Someone who is equally active would be best for her. She’s a sweet, good girl who loves to play fetch and get belly rubs. Her favorite fruit is watermelon. She loves going on walks. Once she gets used to you, she’ll follow you everywhere around the house ready for the next adventure. I just don’t have the time or funds to truly give her the life she deserves.

Story
Meet Sierra, our delightful 4-year-old German Shepherd//Husky mix! Sierra is spayed, microchipped, and up-to-date on her vaccinations. She’s a vocal social butterfly with dogs but does require a softer-calmer approach from people. She does not mind cats as she got use to our calico with no issue and seems to have out-grown her interest in cats. Sierra thrives in a home with an experienced dog owner who has an established dog pack and a spacious yard where she can romp with her fellows. Ideally, she’d love to join someone who enjoys a work-from-home lifestyle that already has a fur family for her to transition into. If circumstances are ideal and all worries swayed, we are willing to waive the adoption fee outright. As long as the new home fits, thats more than enough for us. I was once previously a vet tech so Im aware of what markers and qualities to look out for that would be in the best interest of her and the potential new owner. If curious, please extend a helping paw and say hi!

Story
We got Biscuit as a puppy from a rescue. We had no idea what breed he was and neither did the rescue. It turns out that his dna results were Shepherd/ cross. He’s a beautiful red color. He has been a great dog for my young kids to play with and love on. Unfortunately we are facing some medical things that will take us away home for extended periods of time. Biscuit really needs to be in a home who can love on him and give him the attention he deserves. I would not suggest him going to a home with livestock. We have livestock and keep a close eye on him.

Story
I adopted Sadie when she was 8 weeks old from Haven Humane in Redding, CA and she is now 9 years old. Over the years, she has developed anxiety to noises such as fireworks and our neighbor’s bug zapper to the point where she won’t go outside to use the bathroom, won’t take her pills or eat, and wants to dig at the carpet in our home due to the severe anxiety. She would do very well in an area with a big yard, preferably with other friendly dogs. She has a lot of medication she takes due to allergies and skin issues. She is good with people, other animals, and is very loving, outside of the anxiety issue at my house. She also occasionally displays resource guarding behaviors. I will give all food, medicine, toys, crate.

This lovable senior needs to relax in the sun and count the butterflies, not live in a cage. Please add Potato to your family. You’ll never be sorry, he will thank you every day with big brown eyes and a sloppy kiss. Potato gets along with other dogs and is believed to be 8 years old. Come and meet him! You won't regret it! Potato's adoption fee has been sponsored by the volunteers who love him, so instead of paying his adoption fee, his new family can buy him a cozy bed and some toys! NOTE: RENO IS WITH A PRIVATE PARTY, NOT GSRSV. I AM LISTING HER ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE ADOPTION EXPOSURE. PLEASE CONTACT EMMA KEMP AT 323-536-6714 OR EMMAKEMP88@HOTMAIL.COM. "Reno" is a 55-60 lb, approx 2-yo spayed female GSD mix who is energetic, fearful/anxious and affectionate. She loves nothing more than a good belly rub! She's healthy and up-to-date on her vaccinations. Reno is very shy with people she's never met before. When a visitor comes into the house, she will hide in another room and bark loudly. When out on walks, she will avoid people. Reno has not been around young children since she was adopted; given her timidness around adults, it’s hard to say how she’ll do with youngsters. Reno appears to be good with other dogs. She has played regularly with a male Weimaraner at a sporting dog kennel where she is receiving both canine and human socialization and training. Reno has a strong prey drive and is NOT good with cats. Reno is housetrained and non-destructive in the house. She has never chewed up anything but her toys. Her people keep her in a crate when they are gone for more than an hour; she hates being by herself and cries for long periods when let alone. Her people also keep her crated at night to allow their cats a chance to roam the house freely. Reno has received some obedience training and obeys commands such as “down” and “stay.” She is a fast learner and very treat-motivated, which has helped speed her training. She walks OK on leash, but can become a little too playful and start nipping at her handler’s heels. If she is startled by another dog she sometimes reaches a state of anxiety where she will bark at her handler in a seemingly aggressive manner. Reno rides calmly in the car, but appears nervous while doing so. Reno loves playing fetch and tug, as well as chewing on stuffed toys. Reno has many behavioral issues that she needs help overcoming. She is fearful of not only new people but most new environments. She gets overly-excited in certain situations, such as when greeting her people in the morning; it’s as if she hasn’t seen them in ages and she becomes very mouthy. She demands attention and it can be difficult to bring her down when she is worked up. Reno is definitely a “project dog”, but she has many good traits which outshine her drawbacks. She is a loving dog who will continue to make progress in the right hands and reward her people with love and loyalty. Reno's people adopted her from the municipal animal shelter in Joshua Tree (Southern California desert) in May 2021. Reno is a bit too large of a training project than they are capable of handling, and they also know Reno can't coexist with their cats. Reno is located in Los Angeles. No rehoming fee is requested. Please contact Emma Kemp at 323-536-6714 or emmakemp88@hotmail.com.

Story
"Charlie" is an approx 80-lb, 8-yo neutered male GSD who is super-affectionate, incredibly loyal and easy-going. Charlie is friendly with everyone he meets (not a great watchdog) and great with young children. He recently lived with a family with two young boys (7 & 10-yrs old) and he was great with them. He takes treats gently from hand but sometimes forgets that he's not a little lap dog. Charlie loves to snuggle in bed! Charlie is good with medium & large dogs, but NOT good w/ small dogs. He's also not good w/ high-energy dogs--he wants to run after them and "correct" them. Because Charlie has exhibited a prey drive towards small dogs he's almost certainly NOT good with cats. Charlie is completely housetrained and can be left inside for hours without issue. However, if you have lever-style door "knobs", be sure the lever is locked because Charlie is smart enough to open a door with such levers. Charlie knows a few basic commands such as sit and lie down. He pulls very strong on leash initially, so needs a person strong enough to handle him and who is willing to work with him in this area. Charlie hasn't shown much affinity for toys since he's been with me but the other day he picked up a ball and trotted off with it, so maybe there's a playful pup hidden in Charlie. Charlie is in great health. He has a straight back, sound hips and fluid mobility. His ear tips have permanent scarring from fly strike (due to unsanitary conditions outdoors). A family in North Highlands raised Charlie from a pup. However, both his people became ill and were no longer able to provide him with exercise or much attention. I received a request in May from their daughter to rehome him. I went to meet Charlie on May 19, 2021, and he literally begged me to take him with me--so I did! A family with boys ages 10 & 7 yrs and a small female Terrier mix adopted Charlie on June 13.Charlie did fantastic in most regards, especially with the boys. However, he would often harass the little dog and his people never trusted him enough to leave him alone with her. Charlie also did not do well with small dogs in their neighborhood. On one occasion he got out and bit a little dog—not bad enough for vet attention, but it put his people on notice. In late August, Charlie opened the front door (which has a lever-style door “knob”) and set his sites on a little dog whose people were walking it across the street. This time, Charlie did enough damage to send the dog to the vet. (The dog was OK, but it cost Charlie’s people about $2K in vet bills.) After this incident, Charlie’s people sadly realized they could no longer keep him due to his strong prey drive so they returned him to me on Aug 16. Since I took Charlie back, he’s been once again perfect w/ all of the GSRSV dogs. So, a home w/ another large dog is certainly an option for him--just no small dogs or cats. Charlie's adoption fee is $160.

Story
NOTE: SASHA IS WITH A PRIVATE PARTY IN FRESNO, NOT GSRSV. WE ARE LISTING HER ON THIS WEBSITE TO GIVE HER MORE EXPOSURE FOR ADOPTION. PLEASE CONTACT REBECCA HOFFMAN AT BECKY HEART@GMAIL.COM OR 559-824-2110 "Sasha" is a beautiful approx 5-yo spayed female GSD who is loving, playful and somewhat alpha. Sasha is healthy and current on her rabies and distemper/parvo vaccinations. Sasha initially barks at strangers who come into the house, but once they are introduced is very friendly. She’s also friendly with people she meets beyond her own territory. Sasha is great with young children; her people have kids over often and she plays gently with them and loves attention. She waits patiently for treats and takes them gently from hand. Sasha has only been around the dogs in her current home since her people took her in back in June and has not done well with them. She gets jealous easily when the other dogs receive attention and drives them away. Sasha does NOT get along with cats, so a home WITHOUT CATS is in order. Sasha’s people keep her outside primarily, so they can’t say definitively if she’s housetrained. However, they have had her inside on a few occasions for 2-4 hours and she did not have any accidents during those times. Sasha likely received some obedience training previously as she sits and shakes her paw on command. She walks well on leash without distractions, and when she sees other dogs when she is on a walk she only wants to check them out—she doesn’t go ballistic. Sasha rides well in a car. She likes squeaky toys. It’s unknown if she’s a swimmer. Sasha’s people found her as a stray in June 2021 and were unable to find her owner. They decided to keep her and had her spayed in August. Unfortunately, Sasha is very jealous of the existing dogs in her home which has led to altercations. Regretfully, her people are seeking a new home for her. Sasha Is located in Fresno. Her adoption fee is $100. Please contact Rebecca Hoffman at beckyhearts@gmail.com or 559-824-2110.
