Story
Rubi is about 3 years old and is a black German Shepard. We adopted Rubi about 6 months ago, she is a very loving and a cuddle dog. She has some anxiety about when we leave which has made it hard for us to both have a job in a small apartment. Rubi is great with other dogs and would be amazing with a yard but she doesn't like cats.

Story
Bodhi spent his first two years isolated and neglected. I fostered him through adoption in Feb 2025, specifically to help him become his best self. In 8 months, Bodhi learned all about the big world outside his kennel and has grown to be an incredible dog with a natural love for other dogs, people, and playing. He is not much of a barker, but will talk. He walks both on and off leash. He currently has learned 21 commands, including all the basics… Outside, Inside, Sit, Stay, Wait (pause - not stay), Lay down, Leave it, Drop it, Stop (stop doing what you are doing), No (never do that again), Back (back up, close gap when walking), This way (takes the wrong fork in the path), Come here (come to me and wait), Over here (come back into my bubble), Heel (right side), Break (free), Listen (focus, recalibrate), Be nice (be easy) Fun commands… Sit up (sit pretty, beg…), Walk it (walk a retaining walk, log…), Hugs. He is currently working on crawl.

Story
Ella is the biggest sweetheart ever! Everyone who meets her falls in love. She has done well with all farm animals, cats, dogs, and kids. There has only been one dog that she has had to stay away from and we can’t figure out why she dislikes him so. Ella loves to play with toys, enjoys snuggling, rides well in a car, and is crate and potty trained. Ella does well on and off leash. She knows basic cues. Ella does need to either have hip surgery or be on pain medication and NSDR is trying to fundraiser and save up for her surgery. She is in pain; if you happen to touch a sore spot, she will signal to you that it hurts. While she is still in pain it is best she is in a home without toddlers that might lean on her or bump her. Ella is already spayed, chipped, UTD on vaccines, dewormed. Ella is 5 year old and a German shepherd. Story
Bruce is as goofy as they come. He is a big boy who acts like the biggest kid ever. He and Knuckles know and love each other. They are great friends from their past. Once reunited it was such a wonderful thing to see and made us cry. He is great with every person and animal he meets. Bruce loves to play with his friends and curl up with you. He likes to jump up and give as many kisses as possible, so be prepared for a wet face. Bruce doesn’t like to be left alone; he will need another dog friend. Bruce has had a very hard life. Yet, through it all he stands tall and you wouldn’t know that he went through any of it. His story is long and can be discussed in depth via phone or meeting with serious applicants. Bruce is crate trained, house trained, and leash trained. Bruce is about 2 1/2 years old at the time this is posted and we think he may have German shepherd and Siberian husky in him. If you’re interested in Bruce, please fill out the pre adoption application on link below. Https://linktr.ee/northernstardogrescue

The Captain is ready to "lift your spirits" with his adorable antics!  He is a big, lovable goofball who doesn’t quite realize how large he is—but that just adds to his charm! With his playful personality, kind heart, and unshakable loyalty, he’s the perfect adventure buddy and cuddle companion all in one.Why You’ll Love Him:Obedient and eager to pleasePlayful yet incredibly lovingA little uncoordinated at times, making him extra endearingHousebroken and well-mannered indoorsRides well in the car and walks nicely on a leashThe Perfect Home for The Captain:He gets along well with other dogs, but would thrive with a fellow big dog who can match his energy.  Slow intros are best with those well balance playmates. He’d do best with an active, loving adopter who wants a true best friend for life—someone who will enjoy playtime, outdoor adventures, and plenty of goofy moments together. This gentle giant is very curious of feline friends so he would do best in a home without kitties!Health & Care:Neutered and up to date on all vaccinationsHouse-ready and fine in a walk-in kennel when neededIf you’re looking for a big-hearted, fun-loving dog who will bring endless joy and laughter into your life, The Captain is your guy. He’s ready to be your loyal companion—could that be you?He is wagging his tail and wiggling his butt at just the thought of finding his forever home and his story is just beginning! Because you will be giving one of our many dogs and cats in need a chance for a better future away from a city that has an animal crisis. We are heartbroken each day with the many incredible and loving animals found wandering our streets. So often are these animals dumped, abandoned, or born on the streets and never find a home to call their own. We are giving them the chance that every animal deserves. We know that since you are looking to add a furry family member to your home here, you will provide the love, care, and attention they need to thrive. Thank you for considering adopting and not shopping. If you have fallen madly in love and would like to make this baby part of your family, then go to https://www.petstablished.com/organization/920716 ##2218341##

Story
Meet Jimmy, a 3yo female Czech Sheppard! Jimmy is short for Gemma- she is the bestest good girl! She comes from a working line of Czech shepherds (pure bred) with strong, vet-verified hip and spine strength and health. My husband took her in with the intention of having her work as a police K9, but she doesn’t have the “aggression” in her to do apprehension. I (mom) have been working from home the past few years and recently started working out of the house and Jimmy is struggling with the separation. We have kids ranging from 4-12, and another young dog who she loves and is protective of. Gem talks a lot, and says “Good morning” every day! She’s a sweet thing who needs walks every day and lots of snuggles. Our recent life changes unfortunately are not giving her what she is desperately wanting. We desperately want the best for her, which would probably be a family that can prioritize a walk and some Kong fetch in a big backyard. If you don’t have a yard, this girl isn’t for you.
