Meet Cobalt! 🐾 Cobalt is a big, handsome 8-year-old German Shepherd with a heart that's still learning to trust. Cobalt came to us as a stray, scared and unsure of the world. It's no surprise he's a little cautious with new people at first — but underneath that caution is a genuinely sweet boy who just needs time, consistency, and someone willing to let him come out of his shell at his own pace. A few things to know about Cobalt: 🎾 He's a total goofball once he's outside — playful, energetic, and clearly happiest when he's got some room to romp around. 🍖 Food motivated, which makes him a great candidate for positive reinforcement training and building trust through treats. 🦴 Cobalt shows some signs of arthritis, so a home that can offer him a comfy bed, manageable exercise, and maybe a joint supplement would help him feel his best. 🚫 He's not a fan of the leash right now — patient, gradual leash training in a low-stress way will go a long way for him. 🏡 Since he's undersocialized, he'll do best with a family who understands his background and can give him the time and structure he needs to build confidence. 👦 We recommend a home with kids 8 and up, so Cobalt can settle in without feeling overwhelmed. Hi there! My name is Tigger. Everyone tells me I am the ideal family dog because I am friendly with other dogs, cats, adults, and kids! I enjoy playing but am not overly energetic, I am not destructive, I walk well on a leash, am crate trained, and I know basic commands! I also love playing in the water! My humans think I am about 5 years old and am a German Shepherd mix. I was rescued from a high-kill area in SoCal. I had a family, but for some reason, I ended up very underweight and tied to a post by a vet office. The shelter took me in and got me back up to a healthy weight. I was rescued from the shelter and went on a 24 hour drive from SoCal all the way up to Seattle! My foster family picked me up and drove me from Seattle back to Coeur d'Alene, which is where I currently live. I am hoping a loving family will come forward and want to give me a forever home. I have so much love to give, I just want a forever family.

He came to CAC through Animal Control, so his past is a bit of a mystery, but one thing is already clear—he's a well-mannered boy who's ready to find a family of his own. Tonka would thrive in a home with a yard where he can stretch his legs, explore, and enjoy spending time with his people. Like many German Shepherds, he's looking for someone he can trust and look up to—someone who will provide consistency, guidance, and continued training to help him become the very best boy he knows he can be.
