Story
Hi my name is Ace! I’m about 8 months old and around 45 pounds. I love playing ball and hanging out with my brother Jack. I love being loved and will cuddle you all day. I sleep in my kennel and I’m doing great with potty training. When you meet me, I’ll be shy at first but overtime will warm up to you. I haven’t had the best of luck with humans, so I may take my time but I’m worth it. Can’t wait to be with you for forever. I love other dogs and will need a dog friend in my forever home.IMPORTANT: Please read all below, especially if you live outside of Texas, which is where our rescue is located.Apply to adopt on our website: https://www.charmingpetrescue.org/adoptAll of our animals are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on shots.ALL of our animals are located in Boerne, TX, but transport after adoption is available to other states for a $300 fee for dogs or an additional fee varying by location for cats. If you are seeing our pets posted in your state, that's because you live near a transport stop, they are not currently at that location. Petfinder lists our pets as 'Out of Town' pets at other locations, and Adopt-a-Pet lists our location as a Transport stop. Those are currently the only options they offer to make this clear, so we put this description we've put at the bottom to explain it. You can read more about transport here: www.charmingpetrescue.org/transportWe understand transport is not an option for everyone, but we offer it at the cost we pay the transport company for those who wish to adopt from us.May 27, 2024, 9:06 pm

Story
Norman is almost 5 years old and the absolute sweetest dog. He is *incredibly* ball-motivated and has a ton of energy, but he's also a people pleaser and calms down pretty easily once he's comfortable. Even on days when he doesn't get enough exercise, he has never been destructive and is fully house trained. While he is used to parents that work from home, he has no trouble with staying alone for long periods and is crate-trained. He needs a home without other dogs and would probably do better with older kids that can play with him. Norman is afraid of other dogs and has leash aggression, but he would rather play fetch than go for a walk anyway! He is a very good guard dog and won't let a stranger into the house unless you tell him they're okay - then he is very friendly and asks them to play with him. He would do best with an experienced dog owner and some yard.

Story
Greetings, mortals! I am Aries, a majestic male dog with a powerful spirit that rivals the might of the gods themselves. My lineage is a fusion of strength and courage, much like the mythical Greek warriors of old. As a German Shepherd mix, I bear the mantle of both protector and loyal companion, ready to embark on epic adventures by your side. Behold, my most distinctive feature: my big, floppy ears that listen keenly to the whispers of the wind and the secrets of the world around me. They stand as a testament to my unwavering vigilance, always attuned to the slightest rustle or sign of danger. Like the fiery ram that represents my namesake constellation, I possess boundless energy and a fiery spirit. With every step I take, I channel the might of the heavens, exuding the strength and grace befitting of a true Greek hero. My paws tread the earth with purpose, and my heart beats with the fervor of an ancient battle cry. But fear not, for beneath my divine exterior lies a heart overflowing with affection. I am not just a warrior; I am a loyal and loving companion. Together, we shall conquer every challenge and forge an unbreakable bond that even the gods would envy. So, dear mortal, if you seek a canine ally who embodies the essence of a Greek legend, look no further. I, Aries, the German Shepherd mix with big floppy ears, am here to join you on a quest of a lifetime. Let us create a mythic tale of companionship and courage that will be sung by bards for generations to come. Story
Meet Heidi, the magnificent 70 lb German Shepherd with a heart as beautiful as her black and tan coat. This sweet senior female is ready to find her forever home with a family who will cherish her gentle nature and loving spirit. Heidi's friendly disposition makes her an ideal companion for adults and kids alike. She's a joy to be around and gets along well with people and other dogs. However, cats might not be her cup of tea, so a cat-free home is preferable. Though she may not love the crate, Heidi is house-trained and prefers to be close to her human pack. She adores spending time outdoors, especially hunting mice and squirrels in a yard, making a home with a yard a must for her. Her backstory is one of triumph over fear and anxiety. After being found wandering a neighborhood, Heidi was initially anxious and insecure, but her foster family and their other six dogs have worked wonders for her confidence and happiness. She has turned into a playful, secure, and happy girl, no longer needing anxiety medication. Heidi is a versatile companion who enjoys walking, playing fetch with squeaky toys and tennis balls, and being a loving and nurturing nanny to her doggy friends. She's a devoted and faithful companion, always by your side, offering comfort when needed. Her ideal adopter would be someone who works from home or is retired, as Heidi thrives in the company of her loved ones. She gets along well with most dogs but may feel a bit nervous around more dominant ones. Heidi's charm extends to her adorable crooked ear, adding to her endearing looks. With her heart of gold and gentle nature, she's one of the sweetest and kindest girls you'll ever meet. If you're looking for a loyal and loving companion who will bring joy to your life, Heidi is the one for you. Embrace this wonderful girl and let her fill your days with love, laughter, and cherished memories. With Heidi by your side, life will be brighter, and your heart will be full. Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

Story
Hi people of San Antonio! My name is Ralf aka Ralfy aka Ralfy Palfy. My fosters gave me the last nickname because they say I will make someone a great Pal. You see, I was found on the side of the road barely alive after being hit by a car. I couldn't walk very well because my pelvis was broken in three places. But after visiting this place called the veterinarian, I started feeling much better. Unfortunately before my accident I had never met kind humans and still to this day, I'm very easily startled and scared of new people. It's going to take someone very special and patient to earn my trust. But once you earn it, I'm the sweetest and most gentle dog ever. I love love love chest rubs and ear scratches. But my number one love of all time is treats!!! I love all flavors so if you decide to take me home, don't be shy when shopping for me! I enjoy sunbathing and relaxing in my kennel. It's my safe place when I feel overwhelmed. I promise to love you if you promise to take the time to get to know me. I will do best in a quiet house with maybe 1 or 2 adults and an older mature doggy friend. I don't care much for traveling and prefer to be a homebody. I do love to play with doggy friends and don't mind cats either. I'm currently working on becoming more confident in public spaces. What do you say? Can you give me a shot? Ralf is kennel trained and potty trained. He is a local adoption only. His current foster is a trainer who is willing to offer two free sessions along with his adoption to set you both up for success and better help you understand what he will need and how you can help provide that for him. He is a Shepherd mix that weighs roughly 50lbs. Local adoption only $200 (in TX)
