In December'23 I took Tango in from a co-worker that had found him in Georgia and brought him back to Iowa. He was roughly 6mths old, his birthdate we believe is around 5/18/23 so he's alittle over 2yrs old now. We lived on an acreage, and he grew up loving the outdoor life, running and playing. He Loves the snow! Due to a life situation, I moved into town in 2025 and that has changed his life. He has a fenced in yard but it's not big enough to run off his energy and I can tell he's getting anxious. Tango has only been around one other dog while I was having my fence built and the two were always separated. So I have no idea how he will interact with other dogs. He has a very good demeanor, loves to have attention, loves playing and likes walking. Everyone is amazed at how smart he is. He is absolutely beautiful. He is truly a wonderful and it breaks my heart to let him go. The only reason I'm wanting to find a home him is because I am not doing justice for his breed.

Jaxs is a good dog he’s currently 9 will be 10 dec.17 I don’t know he’s whole story as he was rehomed to me when he was 7 years old unfortunately I have fallen under some hard times and I am unable to fully take care of him and give him everyhting he needs with his old age most the time he sleeps or chews on toys it breaks my heart to have to do this but I’d rather him live out the rest of his life with people who can give him what he needs then this I’m on the verge of losing my home and I don’t want to put him through this if you have another dog I’d prefer we let them met before hand but I’d prefer he’s your only dog as he needs it he’s good with people other animals as he’s only ever been around dogs and cats he’s a great boy and needs somsone to continue to give him a good life

We got her at 12 weeks old from a family on a farm in Iowa. She is now 9. She lived with a lab mix from age 2-6. She has never lived with a cat but has met one and mainly ignored her. She really enjoys being wherever we are and playing fetch with sticks. She also loves lakes/the river. She is a timid but obedient dog. She has anxiety but we believe it is from her not getting enough exercise and focus. She is scared of strangers. She gets her nails trimmed regularly. She doesn’t get carsick. She was not formally trained, but knows basic commands. She is currently wearing a Tailsaver due to her pulling out her hair due to anxiety and making it raw. Her tail is permanently missing hair at the end. We have a 19 month old that makes her anxiety worse. We’d love her to go to an individual/family who is active, will take her on regular walks, has a yard, and wants to incorporate her to all aspects of life. She does have her rabies vaccine up to date as of 12/16/25.

Polk County Humane Society is located in Bolivar, Missouri, but also makes transports to the Denver, CO, Des Moines, IA and St. Louis areas twice monthly. For potential adopters in those areas, we can do a virtual visit using FaceTime or another app. Just request an appointment using the same link, but note that you want the visit to be virtual. We will call you at the time of the visit once it is confirmed. For long distance transports to Colorado and Iowa, there is an additional $100 fee to cover the cost of the transport ($65) and a health certificate from a veterinarian ($35). For transports to St. Louis, the additional fee is $50 to help cover gas. Going that last mile home for our sweet pets! All of our pets are neutered or spayed, have vaccinations appropriate for their age, treated with flea/tick/heartworm prevention, dewormed and dogs are also microchipped. #adoptdontshop ##2533273##
