Story
Meet the Marvelous Miss Maple!Maple is a 6-month-old German Shepherd mix who arrived from Oklahoma with Apple just hours before a deadly cold snap. The shelter they came from is an open facility without full walls, and with the only staff member on leave, conditions were about to become extremely dangerous. These girls were rescued just in time.Maple is a sweet, loving puppy who is friendly with other dogs and enjoys their company. Like many young dogs who’ve spent much of their short lives in shelters, she hasn’t really had the chance to just be a carefree puppy yet. She’s ready to learn what home life is all about — toys, routines, and lots of affection. She’s expected to stay on the smaller side for a shepherd mix and should grow into a nice, manageable medium sized dog. Maple would truly benefit from having an older, confident dog in the home to help show her the ropes and build her skills. Another dog in the home is required for her. She could also be adopted together with Apple if you’re ready for double the fun!Maple is a cute, hopeful little pup ready for her fresh start. Come meet her!

Meet Seminole!Seminole is a 7-month-old German Shepherd/Lab/Husky mix that currently weighs about 55 pounds. She is still a puppy that still has a little bit of growing left to do. We estimate her to get anywhere between 60-65 pounds at full growth. Seminole is looking to find herself her forever home where she can be loved and spoiled! She is a very sweet girl that loves to give kisses and greeting new people! She would need proper introductions to other dogs and children, but we do recommend another dog and children above the age of 6 years of age. Seminole has not yet been introduced to a cat, but we can test her to get her reactions to them, if you have a feline family member that resides in the home. Seminole has not had much experience in a home and may need some guidance with potty training and leash training. They do not understand how to walk on a leash quite yet, so a physical fenced in yard will be required for her. She would love to find a family that would be willing to have fun with her and take her on new adventures! If you would be interested in adding Seminole to your family, please fill out an adoption application on our website! Some information may change as we get to know them better overtime.

Story
Sonny came to us as a stray, and his journey toward trust is unfolding day by day. He’s slowly warming up to people, showing glimpses of the loyal and loving companion he’s meant to be. Sonny has a big bark and a cautious nature, so we’re taking things slow to help him feel safe and secure.Because of his wariness around new faces, Sonny will likely need multiple meet-and-greets to truly connect with his future humans. We’re not sure yet how he feels about other dogs or cats, so a careful introduction would be necessary. At this time, we recommend that Sonny go to a home with no kids. A fenced yard is required for Sonny, as he’s still learning to feel comfortable around strangers and needs a secure space to decompress and explore. If you are interested in meeting Sonny, please fill out an application for him online. Information may change as we get to know Sonny better.

Story
Your perfect little Apple is waiting!Apple is a 6-month-old German Shepherd mix with a heart as big as her floppy ears. She came up from Oklahoma with her sister Maple on a transport that arrived less than 24 hours before a dangerous cold snap. The shelter they left behind was an open facility without full walls — and with the sole staff member out on leave, conditions were about to be truly deadly. Apple and Maple and 13 other dogs made it out and brought to AHeinz right in time.Apple is friendly, affectionate, and very dog-social. She clearly wants connection — with people and with other pups — and she’s the kind of youngster who will really blossom once she’s in a stable home and finally gets to do normal puppy things. She’s been in shelters for a big chunk of her short life, so she’s basically a “late-start” puppy: eager, sweet, and ready to discover the good stuff.Apple isn’t expected to be too big, and she’d thrive with guidance from an older, well-adjusted dog. Another dog in the home is required for Apple so she has a role model and built-in confidence. She can be adopted on her own or with Maple if you’re ready for double the cuteness.Apple is ready for her fresh start — come meet her! 🍎🐾

Story
Meet Rosie!Rosie is a beautiful 5-year-old German Shepherd mix who came to us as a stray. When she first arrived, she was heartbroken and unsure, choosing to curl up quietly in the back of her kennel. But with time, patience, and gentle encouragement, her personality has begun to bloom..Although Rosie is incredibly sweet and she appreciates all the attention she can get, she is still cautious when meeting new people and other animals. She will need a few meets to warm up to new people, but once she is comfortable, she is ready to become someone`s best friend. Given her cautious demeanor with new people, a home without shared walls would be best, as well as a home with older children or a home without kids as it can be quite stressful for her. As with all of our adoptable pets, a meet with all family members, furry and non-furry will be needed to ensure it`s a great match. If you’re looking for a gentle companion with a kind heart and a penchant for snuggles, Rosie may be your perfect match. She’s ready for someone special to show her that the world is safe—and that she deserves all the love it has to offer. Rosie had been adopted and lived in a home for a couple weeks and did just amazing (only returned as owner had to have surgery and could not care for her). She would sit and watch out the windows and NOT bark at anyone going by. She did not have any accidents in the house, walked great on a leash and was always excited to jump up on the couch and relax!! This girl loves a good belly rub.
