Story
2 years ago I picked up Jax from someone who was giving him away for free. He was super chill, didn’t bark and got along great with my other 4 GSDs. 9 months later he will not leave the other male GSD alone. I have had them separated for a year now. I have spent thousands of dollars on training and I am at a loss. I believe he is best suited with someone who doesn’t have other male dogs and who has the time that I, unfortunately, do not have. I have posted in local groups, I have contacted rescue groups and I have contacted trainers looking for a home better suited for Jax. I have had no luck. I am unwilling to take him to a shelter because he will not do well in that type of environment. Jax is 4 years old and neutered. He is a great dog with a ton of potential. When I sent him to training last summer he was UTD on shots.

Story
This is Luna, she is such a sweet baby. We got her when she was just a couple months old in a Walmart parking lot and she is now 3 years old. We are looking to rehome her because we do not have the time it takes to truly take care of her. She is a very energetic dog and needs a lot of it drained. But I do not have to time to drain is as I am away from home for typically 12 hours. And has to be in the crate the entire time. She is house trained but can not hold it long but will tell you when she needs to go out. She is a very loyal dog and is very friendly to people she just likes to jump a lot as well. She loves to play ball, sleep with a ball, and chew on a ball, she just loves being around a ball. She loves to give kisses and lay next to you even though she is not the biggest cuddle bug she just loves being in the room with you.

Story
River Monster LitterMeet Linus! Linus is 1 year old. This playful pup needs someone who is very active and willing to train him. He is high energy, but very smart! He needs a patient home to teach them the dos and don'ts of puppyhood ans one that can handle his energy.   WE ARE EXCITED TO ANNOUNCE THAT LINUS COMES WITH FREE TRAINING WITH ROSIE DANE DOG TRAINING! Thanks to the Pedigree Foundation, we are able to work with the trainers at Rosie Dane Dog Training to pay for a 10 week Novice Training course once adopted. More details available upon request! If you would like to make Linus a part of your family, fill.out an application at www.barktownrescue.org. LINUS' ADOPTION FEE IS $170The shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at the dog's predominant breed or breed mix. We strongly encourage you to select your new pet by looking at each dog's individual personality and pet qualities rather than relying on a breed label that is only our best guess.    Our adoption fees vary from $150 and up.  All of our dogs are up to date on vaccines, heart worm preventives, and flea/tick medication, and will be spayed/neutered prior to adoption. Portions of your adoption fee also help care for the sick and injured animals that we take in.  Thank you for supporting us and considering a rescue dog!    February 26, 2025, 6:38 am

Story
Meggie is a German Shepherd mix, about 8 years old, and very sweet. Her original owner died a year ago. The neighbor who took her in has three dogs and ten cats. Unfortunately, several fights have broken out between Meggie and one of the other dogs. So, Meggie is in need of a home without other dogs. She does fine with cats. She has never been aggressive toward humans. However, a home with small children is not recommended, because we don't know if she's ever been around children. And, she's suffered quite a bit of trauma from losing her owner and these dog fights. Meggie is a very chill dog: She enjoys exploring outside, going on walks (does very well on a leash), riding in the car, and cuddling on the couch. Meggie would do well with someone who is at home a lot, because her previous and current owner was/is retired. She needs a more relaxed environment! She is in need of a home ASAP. This home is no longer safe for her! We worry that she won't make it through the next fight.

Tessie is a very sweet and active girl. Her ball game is on point and she could play fetch all day. She does also enjoy a cozy bed and lots of bed, and of course some good treats. Tessie just needs an active home that will allow her to get out her zombies and be the good girl she is!
