Story
Looking for an excellent family dog and companion, but also a great potential protection dog or competition dog? Look no further than Mia, our 2-year-old German Shepherd/Malanois mix. This breed makes a loyal and devoted companion. They tend to be a little more level headed like the German Shepherd and are not as overly active as the Malinois and they are easier to live with as a house pet. Mia came to us when her owner decided he was too busy to devote to her the time she deserved. She has completed her basic command and manner training in Camp K-9 at the Kentucky State Reformatory. Her inmate handler describes her as having medium energy. She enjoys walks, playtime with dogs and humans, and playing with her own toys. She is house trained and crate trained. She does alert at strangers sometimes. Mia has a clean bill of health and is up to date on vaccines and is on flea/tick and heart worm prevention. She is microchipped. Mia would do best in a home where her owner has experience with dogs of her breed or large dog experience.

Story
NICO is a very special dog. He adopted out from our program as a one year old and recently came back because apartment life just didnt suit him. We are committed to our dogs and while he lived a good life with the couple who adopted him, they realized he needed more. Nico went through our Paws Behind Bars program back when, and the best place to put him was right back in. Just because, his same inmate was there waiting for him so even though he lost one family, he got to go back to another one he knew and loved. All through the eyes of a dog........... Nico is now nearing 7 years of age. He is incredibly well behaved AND trained (visit our Paws Behind Bars FB page for a video) He's a real snuggler inside the home. Outside? he has a nice energy level, but he requires an experienced hand on the leash. He weighs in at a lean 67 lbs and he's strong. He's got a keen eye for anything that might run and he's always up for the chase. We love this dog and we've gone to great lengths to make sure he gets the chance he deserves. If this the holiday season he can go home for good? If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of our online application at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Additional adoption FAQ's can be found there also. Meets will be set with approved applicants. Thank you!

Story
PIPPIN is a 2-year-old male mixed breed who weighs 68 lbs. He adopted out as a puppy, but he spent much of his time in a crate when the family underestimated the time requirement and energy puppies bring with them. At a little over a year, he was returned. Adopt Me's goal is to turn his luck around. He's on his way into our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. Pippin is a very quick study when it comes to learning new things and we're hoping to turn this good dog into a great dog! Our goal, and his, is to have him home for the holidays! He's currently with a foster who's dedicating time and effort. He plays nicely with their 3 other dogs - some old, some young. He's good on a leash (and off, are you a hiker?) and he's good with his crate. He's also fully house-trained. He'd do well with older children as he still has "puppy" in him and he plays hard. He'll need a fenced yard to get the proper amount of exercise. Inside? He's a real snuggler. If interested in adopting, our process begins with submission of OUR adoption application which can be found at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Story
Freya is an 9-month-old Shepard mix breed female puppy that weighs 70 lbs. She's came to us from a local shelter and has been very well behaved from the beginning. She's still a puppy, albeit a big one, so she has energy put she's outgoing and loves people. She is currently in our Paws Behind Bars prison dog training program. She's smart and taking to obedience training easily. She is also working on her social skills and so far, gets along better with the male dogs. Before she graduates, she'll walk nicely on a leash, be trained to a crate and house trained. Her best home will have a large fenced yard with an active family. Older children would be fine. She requires a home without cats. She tries hard to look elegant but that flop-over ear will never let you forget the fun side of her! If interested in adopting, our process starts with submission of OUR application which can be found at www.adoptmebluegrasspetrescue.com. Additional adoption FAQ's are available on the website. Meets will be set with approved applicants only. Thank you!
