We found Mickey dumped in a field, estimate age when found 4 months old. He is now going on a year old. All his shots are up to date. His vetenarian is Shepherdsville Animal Clinic. We believe him to have been abused. He is a very sweet dog.Loves to cuddle and is not high energy. We have two other german shpeherds, and we thought 3 would be ok, but it is too much to handle. The first one we got is a working line german shepherd. He requires a lot of our time, going through intense K9 training. Mickey has got out of the yard and been aggressive towards neighbor. He did nip one neighbor on the leg, just a scratch. We then put him in training with the K9 handler to figure out what was causing this. He has been in training for few months, taking him to Lowes, socializing him, working on his obedience, and behavior. He is doing a lot better in public, but will need to be leashed and continued training.

Meet Poppy! She is a 1.5 year old german shepherd, possibly mixed with another breed. We found Poppy as a stray when she was a puppy, after searching for her owners for months we gave in and decided to keep her. She is extremely smart and easy to train and knows basic commands. She is very playful, active, loves attention and snuggles and is overall such an amazing dog. Poppy does really well with our small child and cats, though she seems to prefer adult women over men. *Very important to note* Poppy loves other dogs, however she gets aggressive and will attack over resources (attention, food, water). We have been training her for almost a year to try to rid her of the behavior and she has gotten a lot better, but not all the way. We have three other dogs and are needing to re-home Poppy for their safety. Poppy would most likely do best in a home where she is an only dog, or with an owner that is willing to do intensive training.

Sammy is an handsome oaf of a German Shepherd estimated around 1 year of age. Sammy was a stray so we have no history or past beyond his arrival at the shelter. Sammy is an energetic, bouncy boy who is all legs and overgrown puppy. He loves people and is a social butterfly happy to soak up all the attention you have to offer. Sammy is a generally goofy dude whose body moves significantly faster than his brain - to be honest, I am not sure his brain is ever caught up. Sammy might not be the brains of the operations but he brings enthusiasm to everything he does. Sammy has been around children 7+ years of age and adores them. However, he is a big, bouncy dog and would do best with kids that are comfortable with large dogs. Sammy is pretty ignorant when it comes to other dogs but is slowly but surely figuring it out. He can adjust to new dogs and is learning how to play but it can be a rough start. He is pretty sure the appropriate way to greet new canine friends is with a body slam.... It doesn't often work in his favor but under the guidance of some very patient resident dogs he is figuring out some better communication skills. Sammy would do well in a home with other dogs given the guidance and patience of a slow introduction. He certainly loves having someone to run with in the yard but would be just as happy accompanying his human on jogs or hikes. Sammy is a sweet dude who is seeking a family that will give him the training, guidance, and adventure a rambunctious young Shepherd needs.
