Story
GSD/Husky/Lab/Catahoula mixFour year old Dexter W. is a mixture of Labrador, GSD, Husky and Catahoula. His former owner’s parents have recently taken him in and he is just too much dog for them. They describe him as “a fun, smart and energetic companion. He loves to be near us and is a loyal best friend who loves to play.”  They believe he would be best with a family with older children or a family of young adults because of his energy level.  He has never been around cats. Story
SAMUEL is a real sweetheart, he just needs a family with patience and love. Samuel came from an Animal Control facility, one of the employees thought he was special and called us. Black dogs are a lot of times over looked at shelters. Samuel likes to take walks and play with his friends in the yard. He may take a bit of time to get to know new folks but, the time it takes for him to get to know you, is well worth the wait. He is a very loving dog and could be your best friend. Samuel’s new home will need a fenced yard so, he can stretch his legs a bit. Samuel is house trained and he responds well when asked to do something. Applications can be found on our website www.starbrightanimalrescue.org or please e-mail sbanimalrescue@yahoo.com for an application for SAMUEL. We try to respond to ALL inquiries so, please check your junk mailbox if, you're waiting to hear from us.

Story
Boon is a 2.5 year old Alaskan Shepherd (German Shepherd/Alaskan Malamute mix). He is 55-60lb. Boon is a very energetic dog and requires a good deal of exercise. He would do very well with a fenced in yard. He is great with children. I have two young children and many nieces and nephews that he has grown up around. He is very social with other dogs but we cannot afford to get another pet for him to play with. I currently work very long hours (12+ hour shifts) and unfortunately have not been able to give him the exercise and attention that he needs. I cannot afford to pay for routine daycare and I do not have family in the area. I have noticed that he has become increasingly anxious and behavioral with the lack of socialization, exercise, and interaction. I hate feeling like I am not able to give him what needs and deserves. He is a good dog and I am hoping to find a home for him where he can thrive. I will caution his breed does require regular exercise!

Story
Calling all German Shepherd people! Meet our boy, Atlas! Atlas is a very handsome 2-year-old black German shepherd finally on the search for his perfect shepherd experienced home. Atlas is a vocal boy; he has opinions about everything and isn't afraid to share them. Atlas LOVES being outside in the play yard, he'll just grab a toy and occupy himself tossing it around or he also loves playing chase with his human friends! He seems to have learned a handful of basic skills before he found his way here but given that cunning shepherd brain, he'll need humans able to commit time to his training and mental stimulation needs. Shepherds are very good at finding creative ways to occupy themselves if not properly tired out. Atlas is looking for an experienced home where he'll be the only pet, as he has started showing some resource guarding behaviors that we aren't sure how they'll translate in a home with other dogs. Atlas has met another dog here at the shelter and he has shown us that he wouldn't mind meeting other dogs while he is out and about, like on hikes or walks around the block. We don't want to set him up to fail from the get-go, so being the only pet is what's best for him right now. Because of the resource guarding he's shown at the shelter, we are looking for a home with no children. Primary Color: Black Weight: 76 Age: 2yrs 2mths 1wks

Story
Looking for some ZEN???? Well, Len-nyyyyy has plen-tyyyyyy of that!!! Lenny is a pretty chill and relaxed guy. Even though he had to cross over multiple freeways and super busy streets, he arrived at the Buddhist temple with his bestie dog friend pretty calm. He must have known to trust his instincts and worried not because he found his way to the Buddhist Temple where he has been well cared for by the female monks. The monks have loved and cared for Lenny for over 4 months now. They walk him everyday. They do as much cuddles as they can. But, alas, it is not the same as having a his very own personal family. So, they have reached out to A.M.O.R. and asked if we could help them help Lenny find his forever and loving home. Of course we felt compelled to help! Lenny is a sweet and gentle doggo but can be a bit shy. He is pleased to see anyone and everyone but can be a bit aloof and quiet, until he is ready to trust you. How to make Lenny trust you? Go for walks! He LOVES to go on a leashed walks and he does NOT pull even though he is happy and excited about a walk. He's a dream on leash. And if a little 85pound female monk can handle Lenny on leash then ANYBODY can! Lenny has been completely vetted. He is up to date on his vaccines and rabies shot. He has been neutered for a while now. He has tested negative for heartworms, and has been on heartworm preventative. He is also tested, treated (if needed) and retested for giardia and coccidia. He is also chipped. Because he is kept in a very large outside kennel, it not known if he is house trained. But, it is known that he and his kennel mate always use the bathroom in the dirt/grassy area. They also have access to a room when weather is too cold or hot for them. There was never a mess. This boy is so loving and sweet that with the proper motivation (LOVE!!!!), he will learn very quickly to always potty outside. He is eager to please his people, too!!! So, if you are interested in knowing more about this Len-ny full of Zen, please send an email to A.M.O.R. All animals receive a health certificate (stating that a licensed veterinarian saw the pet and deemed it healthy for travel, but is not a promise of perfect health). Please email for an A.M.O.R. application in order to be considered. Please note: this pet is located out of state.
