Cletus is an easy going, adorable male Golden Retriever/Lab mix, born on October 12, 2024. He is a good family member, crate-trained and mostly house-trained with some support in his new home. He’s neutered, and very healthy and happy. The adoption fee is $50.  This covers the cost of spay/neuter, DHPP, Rabies, Flea, tick, heart worm check, worm treatment, and microchip. To adopt, you need to first fill out an application. Go to: https://rutherfordcountyhumanesociety.org/dog-adoption-application/ We are located in Western North Carolina.     Optional transport is weekly.  After your application is approved, we will contact you regarding cost and delivery if you so desire.November 12, 2025, 2:59 pm

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Meet GEYRAN! GEYRAN was saved and cared for by Muscat Dog Adoption before being sent with other rescued dogs to Give a Dog a Home Rescue in Sebec, Maine. They arrived in the US on 28th January 2025 and were transported to the rescue, where they are settling in. Health & Background &#226&#156&#133 Cleared by the US Canine Center for Diseases upon entry into the US &#226&#156&#133 Spayed &#226&#156&#133 Rabies and core vaccines up to date &#226&#156&#133 Heartworm and tick tested negative &#226&#156&#133 On monthly preventatives &#226&#156&#133 Microchipped &#226&#154&#150&#239&#184&#143 Weighs around 56 pounds Estimated DOB: 2 February 2021 Front leg amputee ‍ Mother of BINKY, who has since been adopted GEYRAN - FOSTER FAMILY UPDATE   We picked Geyran up at Give a Dog a Home rescue in Sebec on September 1st, and have fostered her for one week so far. She started out being clearly nervous and skittish around us -- and who could blame her after what she's experienced in the world so far? But it's been the most amazing thing to see her change from day to day, becoming more confident and loving and playful from one day to the next. This girl has a lot of love to give, and absolutely adores being loved on. While she still has a long way to go to being her most confident self, with the quick progress she's making, it's clear the only thing standing between her and her best self is a little time and a lot of love. Geyran happily sleeps in her crate with the door open during the night, doesn't bother you when you're still sleeping, and then comes to greet you and get some rubs when you get out of bed. She is a very clever girl, and despite having never lived in a home before, knows to only potty outside. First thing in the morning she follows close behind me to the front door, then goes straight outside to do her business. During the day she naps on her bed in the living room, and makes trips outside with us when we go out. She is a huge fan of taking a walk on the trail in the woods behind our house. We have been trying to convince her to take it easy with short jaunts only while she adjusts from a more sedentary life in the Oman rescue and GaDah rescue, to being more active. Geyran certainly seems to be good with other dogs, because she manages to get on with our dog Apollo, who has a fairly severe case of only-child syndrome and wants everything to be about him. While Apollo does resource guard us despite our best efforts, Geyran takes it in stride. While I don't think they'll ever be snuggle buddies, they get along as well as we ever could have hoped considering what a tough nut to crack Apollo is. Geyran does try to engage Apollo in play sometimes, but our snooty dog has mostly turned his nose up at her. The only chance we've had to see them play together is when we get either Geyran or Apollo worked up and when one starts to do some zoomies, then the other usually can't resist joining in and suddenly they are lapping the house together. When we bring Geyran into the bedroom at night to sleep, she first comes to our bedside to get lots of rubs alongside Apollo before we turn out the lights and she heads into her crate. She's come to love this routine, and she seems so happy when the both of us are giving attention to them together....I think it's her favorite part of the day. It's honestly been making it harder and harder to stop giving her attention and turn off the light each night. I hope someone out there will finally give this sweet, sweet girl the chance she deserves to find her family, and discover all that she has to give once she has a chance to settle down in her forever home.

Story
Our poor girl Salem is still waiting for a home after 8 long years. Though she can be shy at first, she longs to be someone’s loyal guardian, hiking partner, and best friend. Despite her severe hip dysplasia, she’s very active and LOVES to run. She’s so playful and full of life. Her inner puppy comes out when she gets to play with toys! Salem also loves cooler weather, though she can deal with summer heat by playing in the water. She’s great with other dogs, and loves to play with them! She’s amazing on and off leash. Salem is our special girl and we’d love to see her in a home where she can live comfortably and happily for her forever.

Story
This is Red, and yes, it's hard not to fall in love with him. But before you do, we need to let you know something about him. This sweet pup was born with Megaesophagus. What this means, is that the muscles in his esophagus don't work properly to bring food to his stomach. He has to eat sitting up. He's learning about eating in a Bailey chair and has been doing well. We'd like to say that dogs with Megaesophagus are easy, but honestly, they're not, and because of the issues associated with Megaesophagus, they can be prone to develop aspiration pneumonia and malnutrition and need extensive medical care. For more information about Megaesophagus in dogs, please check out https://caninemegaesophagusinfo.com/ Now that that is out of the way, Red is a typical puppy and is in his full velociraptor phase. He's learning what he's allowed to bite, and what's he not. He's learning all the things, yet also knows nothing. He is not house or crate trained at this time. Red is a happy strong willed boy who is going to need a home not only dedicated and financially able to care for his medical needs but have the time and patience to train a GSD puppy into a well-adjusted adult dog. This boy is looking for an adult home or one with older kids for his next home. (This is because he is in his hard biting stage with his sharp pointy teeth, as well as his eating needs to be closely monitored which is harder to do with young ones dropping snacks.) Red could potentially live with another dog, he has dog friends but can be overwhelmed by dog who come on strong. Once comfortable he is a typical annoying puppy to the adult dogs. It would be important that any adult dogs in the home have good puppy and dog skills. For more information about Red or to set up an appointment to meet him, please email info@rescueleague.org.
