Story
Meet Micah!Micah is a 1-year-old, 63-pound German Shepherd mix who was found as a stray with his brother. He can be a little timid at first, but as he starts to feel comfortable you really begin to see his playful, inquisitive puppy side come out.Micah still has a lot of puppy in him and is learning how to be a dog and enjoy life. He may do well with some dogs, but a meet and greet would be needed. He is still very new, so we will also need to test him with cats. It’s been so fun watching Micah start to come out of his shell, and we know the right home will help him continue to grow into an amazing companion. 🐾

Story
Meet JavaJava is an almost 4-year-old German Shepherd with a big personality, a playful spirit, and a heart ready for her forever home. She’s an active, intelligent girl who thrives on engagement and adventure—especially long walks (bonus points if you let her proudly carry a toy the entire way!).Java will do best with an adopter who has experience with shepherds and understands the importance of both mental and physical enrichment. We are primarily seeking an only-dog home for her. While she has lived with other dogs in the past, the shelter environment has affected her comfort level, and any potential canine companion would need to be tolerant of her persistence, enjoy rough-and-tumble play, respect her hind-end sensitivity, and be of similar size. When meeting new people, Java may greet you with a big, loud bark—but she’s never met a stranger she didn’t like, especially if they’re willing to explore the outdoors with her.Java came to us experiencing urinary incontinence, and we’ve been working closely with our veterinary team to support her every step of the way. After weeks/months of visits, calls, and referrals, we now have a plan in place. She is scheduled for a cystoscopy consultation in May, which will help determine the cause of her incontinence and guide her long-term treatment or management. The good news? Java isn’t constantly leaking, and her incontinence isn't her fault. She’s looking for a patient, understanding home that will keep her mind engaged through training, enrichment, and regular exercise while her medical team works toward answers. We are committed to covering Java’s veterinary care as we move forward and are incredibly grateful for the support of our community in making that possible.Adoption fee: $250To apply: https://fcrspca.org/adopt/

Story
Oca needs a family! One of the local shelters we pull from shared reports of Oca roaming a Greensboro neighborhood near a local college campus for several days. Neighbors said he was happy to accept treats from anyone who offered, but he’d quickly dart away if they tried to touch him. At just 7 months old, his limited experience made him shy around people - but time spent playing with other dogs has helped him blossom! He’s now running and playing when initially he wouldn’t. He’s being the silly puppy he couldn’t be on the streets…like playing with your shoelaces, tossing toys in the air and awing you when he wants attention or another treat! Oca is 51.0lbs., heartworm negative and up to date on his vaccines.

Story
This handsome young GSD mix named Benny narrowly escaped euthanasia at an overcrowded shelter. He was brought in after he suffered a foot injury (possibly hit by a bike or car). He ended up with a bone infection in his foot which has now been treated by the vet and is healing nicely. He should be out of the cast in about 2 weeks and he's feeling great. Benny is a happy dog, is very playful and good with people. We have not been able to test him with kids or other dogs or cats due to the injury. He is in a very temporary foster home and we need to find him a forever home quickly. He is 2 years old and 63 lbs. Fully vaccinated and will be neutered prior to adoption. Benny deserves a better life than living on the streets. If you can help by fostering or adopting, please reach out to Julie asap on 919 624 0059.
