Story
We rescued Sidney from a horrific shelter in Memphis, TN. When we got him, he was skin and bones and had some barrier aggression issues (who knows what horrors he suffered there) It didn't take long for Sidney to realize he was now safe and could start letting down his guard. Sidney Poitier has filled out and is truly a stunning dog. Sidney is about 2 years old, and is at his healthy weight of 80 lbs. Sidney is a very intelligent fellow, he learns quicky and is anxious to please. He will do well with a job and/or a lot of stimulation, long walks and hikes. He will do well with an experienced dog person. Sidney loves meeting new people. He has done well with large dogs he has met, however he is would not be good with small dogs or cats. Sidney does show barrier reactivity, however, when the barrier is removed (whether it is a crate, fence or car window) he show absolutely no issues. Because Sidney likes a lot of activity, he will need a securely fenced yard (must be a physical fence, not an electric or invisible system)  He is neutered, fully vaccinated, microchipped and on monthly treatment for flea/ticks and heartworm prevention Sidney is currently located in the Middle TN area but transport is included in the adoption fee for approved adopter If you are interested in Sidney Poitier, email cox_ann@bellsouth.net for an application

Story
Ginger is an 10mo dog with a loving sweet personality. She is a German Sheppard/Rottweiler mix and roughly 70lbs. She loves cuddling, chewing on bones, and playing with toys. Ginger is up to date on vaccines, house trained, crate trained but is not spayed. Ginger’s backstory: We rescued Ginger’s mother (pure-bred Rottie) a year ago. We did not know she was pregnant. She gave birth to 6 adorable puppies. We were able to find all the puppies new homes. In April, we reclaimed one of Ginger’s sisters from a less than ideal situation where she was not cared for properly. Unfortunately, early June we reclaimed Ginger from a well-loving home where she unfortunately did not get along with the cats, which was causing severe anxiety. She is currently on Prozac and occasional clonazepam. Her anxiety has decreased since we took her back in and she has shown significant improvement. Unfortunately, our house can not support 3 large dogs. We are looking to find Ginger a loving forever home.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. PHOENIX was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. He along with his 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Phoenix is neutered, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. He has an estimated date of birth of 2 January 2023 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. PHOENIX is the youngest of the dogs that came over from OMAN and he has settled in great. He shares a kennel with his Omani friends, Myrtle (who keeps in him in check) and KATIE (who he has a crush on lol). He is very affectionate, gentle, playful, he found the toy basket almost straight away and enjoys getting them all out and playing or chewing on them. He doesn't like sharing all the time and will let the other dog know with a low growl that it is his food or toy, but has never escalated to anything other than appropriate communicating. He gets super excited when I go over to the kennels, he loves having lots of neck and ear scratches, cuddles and kisses. He will need a family that has an active lifestyle and can give him all that he deserves and needs to thrive. He will in return give you all the love he has, so many giggles with his goofy antics and lots of wonderful memories to be made. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue   YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. We are looking for families that have the lifestyle that the dog needs to lead a healthy, both mentally and physically life, who can afford a GOOD quality food, toys and treats and understand the importance of veterinary wellness checks. Phoenix is located at the rescue in Sebec Maine and is available for a reduced adoption fee of $150. Interested families are required to complete our application process and once approved schedule an appointment to come to the rescue to meet and take home their new best friend. Our process takes 1-2 days as long as we are able to talk to references, so be prepared to be approved (hopefully) to adopt within a few days of submitting the adoption application. https://giveadogahome-rescue.rescuegroups.org/forms/form?formid=5838 HOUSE TRAINED - All of our dogs are located in the kennel building so we are not able to say if a dog is house-trained, however, they do have access and use the dog door to access their run, play area 24/7. FOOD - We feed a variety of high quality brands and flavors including, chicken, turkey, beef, lamb and fish generally alternated daily. CATS - As the dogs are in the kennels, we are not able to say how they are with cats. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. FLISS was saved from being shot on the streets of Oman by an amazing organization Muscat Dog Adoption. She along with her 7 friends were flown into JFK where they were cleared the CDC and then picked up and transported back to Give a Dog a Home Rescue, in Sebec, Maine on 5 April 2024 Fliss is spayed, rabies, core vaccines, monthly preventatives, heartworm and tick disease tested negative and is microchipped. She has an estimated date of birth of 2 September 2021 and at the time of transport weighed around 42 pounds. Mixed breed dogs in Oman are referred to as Omani Wadi Dogs, with most of them being Saluki mixes. FLISS was really scared when she first arrived and wanted to keep her distance, which considering all that she has been through leaving her country and rescue and arriving in America is to be expected. She shares a kennel with her amputee friend, KAI who has helped her settle and gain confidence and within just a few days she was charging around playing with him and has been letting me pet her and rub her neck and scratch her ears, which she really likes. She will most likely be scared when going to her new home, as most dogs are so we are looking for a family who understands and can be patient and give her time to adapt.  Sight hounds do need a good amount of exercise, they tend to have bursts of energy, like Greyhounds and so a relatively active family is needed and one that can give her the lifestyle that she needs and deserves to thrive. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Alma is such a gentle and sweet boy, he is a little wary at first, but having been through all he has leaving his rescue in Oman and traveling to the US is a huge change. After just a few days, he has settled in great, he gets excited when I go over to the kennels, will now take treats, very gently, shares a kennel with two other dogs and does great. One of his kennel mates, CHIP a young cattle dog is really helping to bring him out of his shell, teaching him to play and having him curious in the toys and chews. He sleeps snuggled up with, I feel he gets a lot of comfort with Chips typical cattle dog confidence. ALMA is thin, although being the kind of breed, a sighthound mix, he will not need to gain much more weight, but a few extra pounds would have him at a healthy weight. We take a lot of pictures and videos and don't always have the time to post them on the dogs individual webpage and adoption site, so we ask that you go to the rescue    YouTube channel   and    photo albums on our Facebook page   to see a LOT of pictures and videos. Story
Champ, Callie and Cleo were born on new years day of this year. These 3 pups are the last remaining of the litter of 6. They weigh about 36 lbs and we don’t believe they will get over 55-65 lbs once full grown. These pups were born in a home - mom is a boxer mix and dad is a yellow lab mix. Champ, Callie and Cleo were denied by multiple rescues when the owner reached out to different ones, not knowing what to do with the puppies. They continued to be denied as rescues were full, and the puppies were considered “too unadoptable based on color” by most rescues. The owner didn’t give up, and once we had room to safety take them in, we accepted all pups into rescue and fixed the mom, so no more puppies for her (the owner kept mom and dad). These 3 pups have been around children their whole lives. They grew up with multiple children in the home and get along very well with them. The pups are quite gentle with people in general, especially children. They have been exposed to inside and outside cats and have no issues with kitties. They’re shockingly not a big fan of toys but they are very food motivated and love their treats. All 3 have been around other dogs and have no issues with any other dogs. Callie, Camp and Cleo love to cuddle and are very snuggly. They will subtly climb on the couch with you and just lay close to you, hoping you won’t notice them. They love their dogs. They are crate trained and mostly house trained. The foster did note they all have webbed feet, which we aren’t sure where they get it from! Callie is the most gentle of the 3. She is the observer. She will watch everything before engaging in what everyone else is doing. She loves her pets and would do best in a home with another dog (but not required) as she does lack confidence in herself. She is quieter than Champ and Cleo, and a more quiet/calm home would be perfect for her. She is not a very active girl but does love her walks and time outside. Champ and Cleo are quite similar in demeanor – They’re both super friendly and the first ones to come up to you. They will do whatever they can to get your attention and are super duper food and treat motivated. They love everyone and everything they meet. These 2 would do best in all types of homes as they can just hang around and relax all day, or they are more than willing to go on adventures. All adoption fees include spay/neuter, current parvo/distemper vaccines, bordatella, rabies vaccine, current negative heart worm test, current simparica trio, current dewormer, microchip and transport costs from Texas to the east coast. TO APPLY TO ADOPT: Please fill out an application on our website to adopt: www.ruraltank.org/adopt Most of our animals are located in Texas unless otherwise specified at the top of their bio. If they are listed in a certain new England city at the top of their bio, that means they are in a foster home and no further transport can be offered from the city they are in (unless the foster is able to meet you, or you go to the city they are fostered in). The animals we have in Texas are available for transport once adopted. We use multiple different transport companies (via vehicle), all are USDA licensed. We have transport companies that can go directly to your door (this option costs slightly more, but it’s a smaller transport and more one on one care). This company can go as far as the Canadian border along the east coast. We also use larger companies who are just as fantastic. This transport is included in the adoption fee, but they meet at general stops along the route, depending on where adopters are located for that specific transport. Most transports have stops in Virginia, Maryland, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Connecticut. Transports leave every 1-3 weeks, depending. We go over more specifics once you are an approved adopter.

MEET TRIGGER! This handsome Belgian Malinois is seeking his forever. Trigger is simply, as his foster mom puts it ... "the smartest dog I've ever met!" Trigger LOVES his humans. He LOVES his exercise (in fact, he is an EXPERT runner, keeps pace, doesn't pull, a GREAT running partner!). Trigger LOVES toys and can entertain himself for hours. He LOVES the water, swimming, splashing ... as long as it's wet. Trigger's ideal home will be one that loves and cares for him of course, a home committed to him forever. A home that will give him the daily sufficient exercise he requires to be happy and balanced. A home that understands he needs a strong handler, someone who is firm and confident and knows, loves and respects the breed. Trigger can be with another dog that is calm and submissive (intros always needed). Trigger is about 3 years and weighs 55 lbs. He is UTD and neutered. He is house and crate trained and not destructive in the home. Have questions? Want to visit Trigger? Please contact reboundhounds@gmail.com and his rescue will get right back to you, thanks!
