Introducing our fabulous and adorable senior Lena Bear! Lena is an absolute doll to be around. This girl is looking for a place to spend her golden years and would love a home to spend the rest of her days lounging around and being pampered. Lena is a bit shy at first, but warms up pretty quickly. Lena mostly spends her days napping in sunny spots, chilling with her dog friends, and chomping on some delicious snacks. My name is Baloo, and I am a 4-year-old German Shepherd Dog/Husky mix. I am looking for a family that would love me as much as I will love them!I was unfortunately in a car accident a few months ago that left me with some gait instability. At first, I was paralyzed in my hindlegs. But I underwent two spinal surgeries and after some long, hard recovery, I am now able to walk short distances! With some help with my balance, I can go even further! I was scared and confused during this time because I didn’t understand what happened to me, but I never stopped being the happy, loving boy I am! In fact, my new favorite activity quickly became sitting in the front yard so I could people-watch, since I couldn’t go on walks anymore. Not to toot my own horn, but I quickly became a neighborhood favorite! The vets think my legs will continue to get stronger and I’ll be able to walk even longer distances independently with time and patience. My other challenge is occasional bladder and bowel incontinence. When the accident happened, at first, I lost complete control of both, and needed to be expressed. But I’ve been working hard and am mostly able to control it again myself.  I also wer a belly band very nicely.  But I do have accidents every now and then. I promise I don’t mean to! But I appreciate you being understanding about my recovery. When I pee, I need a little help from someone holding my waist as I walk around the backyard to relieve myself. When I poop, I usually need a sling under me for mild support. I hold most of my weight on my own, but I can’t squat completely independently just yet. I would love to join a family where one or more people work from home/stay at home mostly. I love everyone I meet (dogs, cats and children!), but once I consider you my person, I become really attached and come to love my time with you. I do fine when left home alone. I wander the house and am smart enough to know not to go into rooms I am told not to be in, not to jump onto any furniture, and not to chew up any toys. But I prefer spending most of my time with my family if possible. And I enjoy that time even more if we spend it together outdoors. Right now, I like my weekly trips to grassy parks where I can move around with my current limited mobility, but I don’t hurt my paws because the grass is long and soft!! Overall, I am a happy, sweet boy who loves my people and the outdoors. I am smart, adapt quickly, and learn new rules and routines well. If you don’t mind being patient with me, I promise to love you with all my heart and to bring lots of happiness to your life! Please give me a chance! Please contact my family today at 214-843-7838 to arrange to meet me.  You won't regret it! All Mountain Pet Rescue (Asheville) animals are up-to-date on vaccinations, spayed/neutered and micro-chipped before adoption. Contact the foster parent or Mountain Pet Rescue at pets@mpravl.org for more information. Please note that visual breed identification of companion animals has been proven to be unreliable, so for most of our animals we provide a best guess at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each of our animals as an individual and do our best to describe and place pets based on personality not breed label. Mountain Pet Rescue is a 501(c)(3) non-profit tax deductible charity (EIN 82-3039637) located in Asheville, NC. September 30, 2023, 9:46 pm

Story
My name is Ghiacciaio, which is Italian for the word glacier. I am 11 months old and I weigh 60 lbs. (9/1/23). I am very loving and I never meet a stranger. I greet everyone with a wagging tail! I am also extremely intelligent and a very fast learner. I get along well with other dogs, cats, and children. I love being with my people more than anything! I will choose playing with a person over playing with a toy any day! I am house trained and I ride well in the car. I have a medium energy level and I rarely bark. I look really big in the picture with my person but that is because she is really short. I am a wonderful companion and I would love to have a permanent family to call my very own! I'm heartworm negative and up-to-date on my rabies and dhpp vaccines. I will be seen by a veterinarian before going to my new home. All of my medical records will accompany me. I was rescued by my foster mom from a home environment where I was not abused but not cared for very well. I was only 35 lbs. at 7 months of age when she took me in. Because she has other dogs and has just found out that she is pregnant with her first baby she needs to rehome me. Ghiacciaio is fostered in Danbury, North Carolina but easy, affordable transportation is available if needed. Because our county animal shelter stays full and has a high euthanasia rate, we post our pets in several different locations. We do this to maximize their exposure in hopes of getting our pets adopted as quickly as possible to make room for another unwanted pet. Email is the best method of contact. Applications can be found on our website carolinacaninerescuenc.com Once an application is approved, the foster phone number is provided so that you can learn more about that pet behaviors and personality before making an adoption decision. Story
Walk with me, hike with me, or run with me. Put your hands on me, pet me from the tip of my nose to the end of my tail. Give me treats, give me a safe place to live, spend time with me, love me. In return, I will provide you with endless pleasure, amusement, joy and love. We can hike the hills, hang at our house, or how about a road trip to the Grand Canyon! I can enrich your life while you enrich mine, we could be 2 peas in a pod. You could teach me how to catch a Frisbee, I bet I`d be good at it. I can`t promise I won`t drink out of the toilet, inless it`s ok with you, it is at such a handy height. Please do both of us a favor and come meet me, I am ready to start creating memories with my forever family.

Luna is a full-fledged adult so no puppy business to contend with! If you have been looking for a calmer, all most middle aged young lady, please come meet her. Maybe it will be you that takes the worry off her face.
