Story
My name is Spice, and I recently arrived at FDHS with my friend Sugar (she’s here too!). I’m a gorgeous German Shepherd and I’m told I’m a very good girl… just with a little extra razzle dazzle.I have some pretty big feelings, which is something a lot of Shepherds share. The shelter has been a tough place for me because it’s loud and busy, and that can make an already anxious girl feel a little overwhelmed. But if you take me out of the kennels and spend some one-on-one time with me, you’ll see the real me. Out in the yard, away from all the noise, I’m pretty close to perfect.I’m smart, eager to please, and very motivated by treats. I may not have had a ton of formal training yet, but I’m ready to learn and I think I’ll pick up new commands very quickly. I do need a little help with my leash manners, but I have great recall in the fenced yard and I try really hard to listen. I also keep my kennel nice and clean and I’m not very destructive with my toys.I can be a little nervous when meeting new people, but with a soft voice and a few snacks, I warm up quickly. I’ve been a bit reactive with some of the other shelter dogs, but it’s hard to be your best self in a place like this. We don’t know yet how I am with kids or small animals. The people here think the real me is just waiting to shine once I’m in a calm, loving home. I’m just looking for my person… someone who understands a girl like me.

Story
This stunning girl is Amity!Amity is a German Shepherd who recently came to FDHS as a stray and was never reclaimed by her previous owner. While we may not know much about her past, we’re learning more about her personality every day, and she’s already leaving a pretty great impression.Amity is a high-energy girl who likes to keep both her brain and her body busy. Because of that, she would likely do best in a home with Shepherd or other working breed experience, or with someone who understands the needs of smart, active dogs. She’s the kind of pup who will really enjoy having things to do and people to do them with.So far, Amity has been friendly with our staff and easy to handle, and she’s been doing a great job keeping her kennel clean. She can be a bit strong on leash, but she absolutely loves getting out into the fenced yard to stretch her legs and burn off some energy. She also seems pretty curious about the other dogs here and may enjoy having a canine friend, with proper introductions of course.Since she’s still pretty new, we’re continuing to learn more about her each day. At this time, we don’t know how she is with small animals or young children.Amity is a smart, active, and very beautiful girl who’s ready for a fresh start and a family that can keep up with her adventurous spirit.

Story
Joy is an 11wk old female German Shepherd/ Heeler mixed puppy. She is part of an unplanned litter. We have their mom posted who is Colette. We are guessing they will be around 45 lbs full grown. This litter of pups were born in a barn and have been pretty much ignored. They were quite shy when they first arrived but we are working on their confidence. They are adjusting nicely and are learning how great life can be. They are being exposed to other dogs , cats, children and horses everyday. They will need a little extra love and patience but they will become wonderful family companions. They will need help with house training. They have been great with other dogs , cats and children. They are up to date on shots and wormed. They will be adopted on a spay/neuter contract. The adoption fee is $250. If interested in meeting this cutie, please email heritagefarms08@gmail.com or call the foster at 419- 779-0862 . He is being fostered in Ottawa Lake , Michigan. When emailing please include information about you and your family including other pets . Also include your vet information.

Story
Colette is a 2 to 3yr old spayed female German Shepherd. She is the mom to Joy, Judy and Jasmine. She weighs about 50 lbs. Colette hasn't had the best life prior to coming to us but we are going to change that for her. She has a wonderful heart and just wants to be loved. She is enjoying great food and is gaining weight nicely. She has been seen by our vet and has a clean bill of health. She has a lot of love to give and is just waiting for her perfect family. We are unsure if she is house trained. She has done well with children and other dogs. We are unsure about cats. She is up to date on shots and wormed. She is already spayed. The adoption fee is $300. If interested in meeting this cutie, please email heritagefarms08@gmail.com or call the foster at 419-779-0862 . She is being fostered in Ottawa Lake, Michigan. When emailing please include information about you and your family including other pets. Also include your vets information.
