Story
Aries is a sweet boy! He does have stranger danger, so he is nervous when first meeting people. But once you're his people he will protect his family. He would do best with no children since he does have Shepherd personality. He does like dogs but would need a meet and greet with other dogs. German Shepherd experience needed

Story
Meet Rufus, a 3-year-old German shepherd mix with a big heart and even bigger energy. At 70 pounds, he’s a strong, athletic boy who’s ready to take on life with an active, committed family. Rufus is friendly, social, and very enthusiastic about people and the world around him. Sometimes his excitement can be a bit overwhelming, but it comes from a place of joy and curiosity. He still needs work on basics to reinforce commands like “come,” “sit” and “down.” With structure, patience, and positive reinforcement, Rufus has tons of potential to grow into a fantastic companion. Because of his high energy and strength, Rufus will do best with experienced, active adopters who can provide plenty of daily exercise, mental stimulation, and ongoing training. Although he will sit with you on the sofa, he’s not a couch-potato. He’s looking for someone who enjoys hiking, running or other activities that will burn off some of his energy.  If you’re searching for a loyal, energetic partner who will thrive with guidance and attention, Rufus might be your perfect match. He’s ready to put his whole heart into a home that’s ready to do the same.  Rufus is neutered, up to date on vaccines, and has completed treatment and recovery for heartworms. His adoption fee is $200 which includes six months of heartworm prevention.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.January 26, 2026, 7:20 pm

Story
We adopted her as a young dog from the shelter about 5 years ago. We wanted him to be an inside dog mostly. The problem is he has a lot of trauma and won't go up our stairs and that's the only place that we have a bathtub. So we're unable to bathe him except for outside which you can't do during the winter so the inside dog didn't work. He will bend back a metal fence or jump over it. Will you tried electrical fences in the past and different things but nothing's really worked long-term. He has been sitting in our kitchen for over a year basically and he's depressed. This is not a good setup for hero and we feel really bad about it. He's such a sweet dog and not a problem at all except for he won't go upstairs or down narrow hallways. My husband works too much and I have too many health issues and the kids school schedule to be able to take care of him and train him.

Story
Kida is a beautiful white German Shepherd, just over a year old, with a big heart and even bigger energy. She was brought into our family with love and good intentions, but as she’s grown, it’s become clear that her needs are more than our current household can realistically provide. Kida is house trained and crate trained, and she knows most basic commands. She’s a smart, high-drive dog who thrives on structure, routine, and engagement. She is energetic and anxious, which means she does best with confident, experienced handlers who understand working breeds and are willing to invest time in training, exercise, and mental stimulation. She is healthy, young, and full of potential — the kind of dog who will thrive in the right environment. Kida would do best in a home with a secure fenced yard, where she has space to run, burn energy, and feel safe. Rehoming Kida is not a decision we’ve made lightly. With the right person or family she deserves, she’ll be a loyal companion.

Story
Ace – Our Longest Waiting Boy My name is Ace, and I’ve been at the Orangeburg SPCA longer than any other dog. I’m 6 years old, and while I’ve watched so many of my shelter friends find their happy endings, I’m still here… waiting. I was rescued from a hoarding situation where I never truly knew love or care. Because my case had to go through the courts, I wasn’t even available for adoption at first. By the time I finally was, it felt like the world had moved on without me. I can’t help but wonder if that wait cost me my chance at a family. I’ll admit, I’m not perfect. I have trust issues, and I don’t always want to share my toys—after all, I never had much to call my own. I also take daily medication to control seizures, so I’ll need a family who can commit to keeping me safe and healthy. But beneath it all, I’m still just a dog who desperately wants what every dog dreams of: love, safety, and a place to belong. Even at my “old age,” I’ve still got plenty of pep in my step—I LOVE to run and could chase a tennis ball all day long. That goofy, playful side of me is still very much alive, and I’m ready to share it with the right family. Everyone at the shelter loves me and wants me to find my perfect family. They’ve promised to work with my new family in any way they can—before, during, and after adoption—to help me succeed. Because of my long stay and some Malinois-like tendencies, I won’t be adopted out immediately. Instead, the shelter will require several visits with me, with staff supervising, to make sure both me and my new family feel comfortable before I go home. I am neutered, up to date on vaccines, and ready for a new chapter. I’m also open to being pulled by a rescue who believes they can help me find the right home. Please, don’t let me spend another birthday in a kennel. I’ve waited longer than anyone, and all I want is someone to finally choose me. &#226&#157&#164&#239&#184&#143 Orangeburg SPCA – 225 Ruf Road, Orangeburg, SC 803-536-3918 | aro.spca@outlook.com Hours to meet me: Monday–Friday: 10 AM – 4 PM Wednesday: 10 AM - 2 PM Saturday: 10 AM – 4 PM Closed Sunday Appointments outside of operating hours. Please share Ace’s story—help us find this sweet boy the family (or rescue) he’s been dreaming of. October 7, 2025, 10:45 am
