Introducing Hunter. A two year old Sheperd mix. He gets along with his friend River and would do well with other dogs after a meet and greet. He is still working on his manners and only jumps when really excited. Walks well on a leash. He is crate trained and doing well with house training.

Story
“The dog lives for the day, the hour, even the moment.” This reminds us of Russ, who savors each day to the fullest and is such a free spirit! Why we love him: Russ is a bouncy, happy-go-lucky dog who is always so glad to be in your company! Russ is a mix of German Shepherd and Coonhound. He is two years old and weighs 64 pounds. Russ has one of those wonderfully expressive doggy faces that looks like he is smiling, and his merry brown eyes reflect his joy for life. He reminds us of a big puppy! Russ is a very enthusiastic companion on walks and is more than glad to help you get your daily exercise. He would be a fine hiking or running buddy, too. Outings in the fenced yard are a great outlet for his abundant energy, and he bounds about in total joy! He especially enjoys playing with the toys. Russ loves games of fetch, too. He has enjoyed play groups with some of his shelter companions. If you have another dog, we do require a meet and greet to ensure compatibility. Lucky Russ has spent time in two foster homes. His first Mom says: "He’s very true to what I’ve read about Coonhounds. Russ loves toys and sticks and has a very playful side. He really enjoys being outside sniffing and searching for adventures. Russ is not very vocal, just when the other dogs get barking, he will add to it. He needs someone that will assist with getting his energy out and directed in a good place. He does also love his sleep! Russ is crate trained and sleeps through the night. He enjoys long naps on his raised dog beds. But when he’s awake, he’s ready to go. Russ is easy to bathe and thinks car rides are a fun time! He would be best in a home with older children. Russ can be selective with dogs because he wants to play hard and not all other dogs appreciate that. A meet and greet is required if you have another dog. He walks really well on a leash and finds a lot of joy in outdoor adventures. Russ can be overstimulated inside, but with structure he’s shown that he can relax inside." His second foster Dad reports: "Russ has had a fun foster visit to our house for Christmas. He got a nice big chew bone in his stocking and a box of Milk Bone biscuits. He loves to sit on the sofa and watch tv in the doggie den but always wants a human to be there with him. He LOVES attention. We have discovered Russ is most comfortable in his kennel at night when we cover it. It calms him down tremendously and goes in when you tell him "go to bed." He is really good friends with my son Hayden who is not allowed to sit in a room where Russ is without getting lots of love from him. Russ also loved meeting my grandhildren. He has really enjoyed playing outside with "Little Buddy" the most. We tossed tennis balls for them for over an hour to wear them out." Russ recently spent a couple days with one of our volunteers who observes: "Russ is a good boy. He just wants to be around people and dogs! He came right in and made himself at home! Russ helped me make lunch, checked out every cupboard and, helped me collect eggs. Russ’s biggest issue is his impulsiveness. We did a lot of nos, downs, and sits. I think if he had a regular home, with consistency and routine, he’d fall in line in a hurry. He does have a LOT of energy and needs plenty of time outside, exploring, and lolling in the sun, Russ would love to have dog siblings !Russ loves being petted and brushed. He sat well to have his ears cleaned. He knows the sit and down commands. Russ now sits respectfully at the door for permission to enter or exit, and he sits to wait for his food dish to be put down. He also lays down to be leashed." Russ also had another great outing with a volunteer. He enjoyed riding in the car, spending time exploring the yard, observing the chickens and meeting the family cat and dogs. Russ would do best in a family who will give him structure, consistency and routine. Russ is a very special dog who will be such a fun family companion! Come meet him and you will see why he is a shelter favorite! E-mail ccacangels@yahoo.com for more information! Please come visit! We are open Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday from from 9:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Story
Meet Coda 🐾Coda is a 1-year-old male German Shepherd mix who found his way to us as a stray and was never reclaimed. This handsome boy has a lot of personality and energy—he’s definitely a bit of a handful and will benefit from continued training, especially when it comes to walking nicely on a leash.Because of his unknown past, we’re not sure how Coda does with other animals or children, and it’s also unclear if he is house or crate trained. What we do know is that Coda is a very sweet boy who loves treats and has the most endearing grin when you give him one—it’s impossible not to smile back.Coda is heartworm negative, up to date on vaccinations, and weighs 60 pounds. He’s looking for a patient, committed adopter who can provide structure, training, and lots of love. With the right guidance, Coda has all the potential to become an amazing and loyal companion. 💙🐶Coda's Adoption Fee is $115.50 plus taxDogs are $115 and puppies are $110 unless otherwise noted.
