Story

Ruby has been through so much! First, she was a stray that had been running loose for a long, long time! She was eventually captured but was VERY pregnant! She ended up giving birth a week after her capture, but things took a turn for the worst! She fractured hip hips giving birth and immediately lost two of the puppies. She was rushed to the emergency vet where they performed a c-section. Sadly, the vet said she would not be able to nurse her babies and her babies were taken from her to be placed with experience bottle feeders. While her babies all found a safe place to go, Ruby was left behind fighting a painful battle. After everything that happened, she ended up getting pneumonia during her stay at the vet. Weeks past, and she was finally cleared to join our rescue! She has been so sweet and submissive throughout her whole ordeal! Ruby deserves the best happy ending a dog could possibly have! Luna's story: Not much is known about Luna's past, but from what we have seen since she came into our care, she seems to be a very sweet dog! While we are still learning more about her, she has adjusted quite well to the shelter setting. I’m King and I’m a 1 year old shepherd mix male. I thought I was going for a drive like in the past, but this time I was brought into a building and then put into a cage. My daddy never came back for me and I was going a little crazy in my cage. My paws even started bleeding , because I tried to claw my way out. A nice lady was coming to see me and giving me treats and taking me outside to play in a fenced in area. I’m young and I don’t really care for boy dogs, but that lady told me that might change after I am neutered. I’m a little too interested when I see a meow, so I probably shouldn’t be around kitty cats. You can bring your girl puppy if you have one for a meet and greet. Maybe I’ll fall in love. If I could have the perfect home it would be where I had a big fenced in yard and an owner who was caring and patient. I’m young and need training to teach me manners. I just don’t know yet that counter surfing is considered rude, or that my toys are not the last ones that I will have. I have not been taught these things yet. Max is only 2 years old and very sweet. He is great with other dogs, very gentle with children and would need a fenced yard to sniff and play. He is a gentle soul, a dog that loves people and loves the calm and peace at his foster. He is currently in Richmond, VA with his wonderful foster and waiting for his furever home. His story: He was surrendered to the pound in Texas by his owners due to housing issues. Poor Max was very confused and feeling bad. Really bad. He had a Upper Respiratory Infection, which evolved into Pneumonia. He was coughing, and could not breathe well. Max had to go to the ER to get fluids and heavy antibiotics. These URI's are very common in shelter environments, when immunity goes down. Max is doing much better now and would love to meet you..

We adopted her from a shelter a year and a half ago. She loves everyone although men with beards can cause her to be standoff-ish until she gets to know them. She comes, sits, shakes and loves to hold hands. She loves her treats and to pick which hand they are in. She loves to camp, visit parks, outings, the beach (loves to swim)...pretty much anywhere you are with her. She plays with all dogs, people, toys and loves attention. She is incredibly smart. Learns new tricks easily and is able to open doors, get out of yards and loves to explore. The issue- She doesn't do well alone. She has high anxiety and will become destructive if left alone. She will go into a crate but the moment you leave, she will do all she can to get out. We do not want to crate her every day and know she would thrive with someone who can be with her more. We work outside of the home and cannot be home more.
