Story
Hi there! My name is Bear, and I’m 8 months old 🐾 I love people — cuddles, hugs, and being close to my humans are my favorite things ever. ❤️ I’m still a young pup, which means I’m learning as I go and could use some help with my training. I try my best, and my friends here at the shelter have been cheering me on every step of the way. What I really dream of is a forever home. A family who will be patient with me, guide me, and love me for who I am — forever. I promise to give you endless affection, tail wags, and loyalty in return.

Story
Hi! My name is Rodeo 🤠🐾 I’m 8 months old and I love people — seriously, if you’ve got hands, I’m ready for cuddles and pets! I’ve got lots of puppy energy too. I love sniffing everything, zooming around, and showing off my silly circles. Now, I’ll be honest with you (tail wagging included)… I’m still learning my manners and could really use some training. My friends here at the shelter have been so patient and kind, and I’m trying my best every day. What I really want — no, need — is my forever family. Someone who will help me learn, play with me, and love me for who I am. I promise to give you my whole heart, my loyalty, and a lifetime of wagging tails.

Story
This is Rocco, he was abandoned as a pup in Rock Creek Park and was rescued by a woman in 2024. This woman then went into hospice and passed soon after so we fostered him to keep him out of the kill shelters of the area. He is a loving giant puppy with a ton of energy and in need of a loving home that is ready for a dog who wants to rip and run with you, play in the water hose, and be the center of your attention. He has met other dogs before to loud but not aggressive reactions, hand he loves to chew on his toys and he loves walks and games of chase and fetch. Our family just wasnt home enough to keep him permanently and we want him to be happy, so if your a loving family that wants a ready to be trained German Shepard with a heart of gold, meet Rocco!

If so, Lore might be the perfect companion for you. Lore is a gentle soul who has faced more than her fair share of challenges. This sweet, timid girl is a shy, scared pup who will need a special adopter to help her blossom into the loving, confident dog she’s destined to become. She’s got a heart of gold, but it’s hidden beneath layers of fear and hesitation. Lore’s past experiences have left her wary of new people and environments. She’s a little unsure about the world, but with time, patience, and a gentle touch, she has the potential to be a truly loyal and affectionate companion. What Lore Needs: Experienced Adopter: Lore’s ideal home is with someone who has experience with fearful and anxious dogs. You’ll need to be prepared to go at Lore’s pace and understand that building trust will take time. Patient and Loving Environment: Lore will need a calm, quiet environment where she can feel safe and secure. A predictable routine will help her feel more at ease. Training and Socialization: Lore will benefit from positive reinforcement training to help her overcome her fearful behaviors. With guidance, she can learn to navigate new situations with more confidence. Time and Commitment: Gaining Lore’s trust won’t happen overnight. You’ll need to be dedicated to spending quality time with her, slowly introducing her to new experiences and people. What Lore Offers: Loyal Companionship: Once Lore feels safe, she will show you the depth of her affection. Her loyalty and gentle nature will shine through as she begins to trust you. A Rewarding Journey: Helping Lore overcome her fears will be a deeply rewarding experience. Watching her grow and thrive in a loving environment will be a testament to your commitment and care. If you’re ready to take on the rewarding challenge of helping Lore find her way to a happier, more confident life, please consider opening your heart and home to this deserving girl. With the right support, Lore has the potential to become a cherished member of your family. Important Addendum: Commitment to Lore’s Journey Please note that due to Lore’s sensitive nature and the significant commitment required to support her growth, we are not accepting returns for her. Lore’s journey to confidence and trust is delicate and crucial, and it’s important that she finds a stable, dedicated home where she can flourish without disruption. Lore will need a committed owner who is prepared to invest time and effort into her training and socialization. Bouncing between homes can deeply affect her progress, potentially causing separation anxiety and hindering her ability to build trust and confidence. If you are ready to provide Lore with the stable, loving environment she needs, and you are committed to her ongoing training and development, we encourage you to consider adopting her. Your dedication will play a vital role in helping Lore become the happy, confident companion she deserves to be. __________________________________If you are interested in meeting a dog or cat, we require an adoption application.Apply to adopt at: www.nerdypaws.org Nerdy Paws Animal Rescue is a foster based rescue in Springfield, VA. We do not have a shelter, all of our animals are in foster homes. We require all potential adopters to fill out an application before setting up a meeting with the animal and their foster family. Story
Wolfe is a striking three-year-old white German Shepherd in Jefferson Manor, Virginia, a 70-pound gentle giant with a playful spirit and a deeply affectionate heart. With his snow-colored coat, soulful eyes, and constant tail wags, he thrives on connection and structure. Wolfe is intelligent and eager to please, knows a variety of commands including sit, down, off, and bed, and is both food- and praise-motivated, which makes training rewarding and consistent. He is crate-trained, house-trained, follows a steady routine of two meals and three to four walks daily, and shows excellent manners in the home with no furniture chewing and clear respect for his toys. Despite his size, he is wonderfully gentle, has experience with children as young as six, shows natural calmness around babies, and loves interactive games like fetch and tug-of-war.
