Story
Auntie Em is a beautiful, young German Shepherd Dog/Pitbull mix (50/50 according to the DNA test). Her dark Brindle coat and copper eyes are simply stunning. She is about 2 years old and weighs 64 pounds. She had puppies when she arrived here and was a great mama, but now the puppies are all adopted and she is looking for a wonderful home. She is very smart, obedient, powerful, and full of energy. Please research both breeds. High energy, working dogs require a lot. Check out the Wizard of Oz album on Facebook to see more pics. Auntie Em is particular. She is very prey driven. If it's alive, furry or feathery, and moves she will chase it. She has interacted with various sized dogs. Sometimes its playful, sometimes its not. She does not like when other dogs get in her face or show any dominance. There is not a lot of warning when she's upset. A new owner will have to work with her and learn her cues and redirect. No kitties. She has loved all people she has met so far with proper introduction. She is CRAZY food motivated. She is gentle when taking treats, but is bit protective of her bowl and yummy treats. Because of this, no children under 12 in the household for this gal. Em will definitely benefit from some obedience training to polish her manners. She is doing excellent with housebreaking and knows sit and come. She will go in a crate, but she does not love it. She is micro-chipped, UTD on vaccines and spayed. Em is going to make a wonderful pet for the right owner. Is it you? If you are interested, please fill out an application on www.homesfurhounds.org.

Story
Dolly is a very sweet older girl with some anxiety which causes her to not like loud noises, and strangers. She does possess resource guarding issues and was protective of her owner. Dolly has never lived with other dogs and probably would love to be the only pet to give you her undivided attention. Dolly loves to go for walks, knows several basic commands, and does enjoy playing keep away with a ball, and of course enjoys a good rawhide bone. She also was well taken care of by her owner and his Vet. Please stop by to visit her if you have time to give to this sweet older girl.Notes from the foster:We thoroughly enjoyed our time with Dolly.  We had her for 3 ½ days. She is such asweet girl.  She settled in just fine here and had full run of the house without issue andis very well house-trained. She was quite calm and playful (likes to play chase) by thefirst night. She likes tennis balls and squeaky toys. She loves being outside and enjoys walks in the woods.  We made sure to walk heraway from other dogs as that does get her excited. She does very well on a leash aslong as you "tell" her to not pull (keep her a short leash until she does). She ate quitewell.  She slept fine with us and was on our bed for most of the night the first night. Bythe last night, she was content to be on her bed at the foot of our bed.She is sensitive to loud noises (e.g., TV) and will run around (we think) to try to figureout where it is coming from.We will definitely foster her again but hope she finds her forever home before we get achance!

Story
Meet Seven !! This absolutely stunning puppy is looking for his new home. If you are a fun loving and energetic family this guy might be for you. Seven is an 11 month old, male, German shepherd. He’s a big boy and already weighs 50 pounds. We expect him to be closer to 70 pounds full grown. He was very thin when he first arrived. He is already neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is Heartworm negative. Seven is a great puppy that just needs a shepherd savvy family. He needs daily structure and guidance to be his best self. When in a home with training consistency and proper exercise he is amazing. If he is in a home with no routine and owners not capable of being firm and consistent, he loses that training quickly. Currently he is well trained on basics commands. He already knows sit, come, stay, wait (say ok to release) paw and down. He is extremely smart and highly trainable. He is crate trained and rides great in a car. He is still learning not to pull on the leash and can pull hard when excited. If provided a routine and let out properly he is great with potty training. He does get excited and jump on people which we are working on with training. He is very people friendly and doesn’t always realize his size. He has not had any aggression with food or toys with people or other animals. Seven is very friendly and good with dogs. He can get very excited and play rough so it would be best to have him in a home with other dogs similar in size and energy. He is fostered with cats and does okay. He will playfully chase the ones that run from him. He will also run away from the ones that stand their ground lol. He does well with children but is still very much a puppy and needs a home with older children. He loves kids but gets way too excited when they run and scream etc. He plays very gentle with kids that are calm but once they run he will pounce on them and try to play way to rough. Nothing aggressive at all it’s just him getting overstimulated and trying to play/herd things. If you have kids they need to be over 12 and dog savvy kids. You will need to spend a lot of time working with him and the kids to teach him the appropriate way to play. Seven has a very high energy level. He is super smart and needs someone willing to keep him busy. He needs DAILY exercise both mentally and physically. He wont get what he needs just let out into the yard. He needs someone to play with him and engage with him. Training also helps to work the mind and get him tired. He has so much potential in the right home. Neither you or Seven will be happy if you’re not dedicated to keeping him mentally and physically exercised every single day. If you are not willing to give him this every day, rain or shine then please do not apply to adopt him. He needs a family with the time to accommodate his physical and mental needs. He also needs a family that is firm and consistent with his training and routines. He is such an amazing dog when given what he needs. He quickly slips into negative behaviors without it. ➡️Vet and home checks required. ➡️➡️OTHER REQUIREMENTS 6 foot (or higher) fenced yard. No kids under 12 Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application. ‼️

Story
Brieda is a 4 year old german shepherd. He was adopted when he was just a puppy and has brought so much joy to our household. But overtime, our schedules got too busy to keep up with the lifestyle he needs. He is a loving sweet boy who wants to explore the outdoors and enjoy warm snuggles with anyone. He does have a lot of energy, so playing fetch and popping bubbles are his favorite. We are looking for someone who is experienced with high energy dogs and has the time to allow him to live his best life. He is also crate trained!

Story
*Roxy is back in foster and looking for her forever home, again. Recently, her adopter was visiting a family member's home and the Roxy's meeting did not go so well with the smaller dog in the residence. Roxy is currently living with a small dog in her foster home and she does well! Of course, a proper introduction period is important for any successful integration. If you are looking for a laid back, older gal who would do well in a home with calm, appropriate pets or in a home as the only pet, please reach out to PRAS-FOSTER@NNVA.GOV and we can set up a meet! Here is a bit about what her foster momma has to say about Roxy:"Roxy is looking for her furever home. She is a lovebug! She is super sweet and bonds very quickly. She gets along with my dog. We took her to the park this weekend, where she greeted every passerby with a tail wag (hoping for some pets). One lady did stop and Roxy enjoyed all the attention. She didn't seem to be bothered by the dogs we passed, either. No leash reactivity from this girl. She walks amazing on leash! Here are some pictures from the last few days! Please message me or contact the shelter if you are interested in meeting this sweet gal."This is what I can tell you about sweet Roxy:**house trained**crate trained**lover of her people**walks amazing on leash**no food aggression**loves to carry around a tennis ball**VERY easy going

Story
Trigger just turned 2 on Nov 14th 2023. He is a happy, healthy, friendly and very active young german shepherd. This is not easy for me to do, but I honestly believe that he needs an environment with a younger family, where I live alone now and possibly more space. He only has a little over a 1/4 acre to explore and play here. Furthermore I work a lot and sometimes late, plus business travel so I believe it's really not fair to him. He comes with a crate, that he is very comfortable in, three dog beds, plenty of bones, his flea and tick medication, chew toys, and more importantly, indestructible throwing balls that he LOVES to fetch! That is his mission in life. He comes when told and is fine on a leash.
