Did you watch Twilight and think, ‘wow, I wish I could have one of those werewolves living in my home!’ Well boy, do we have the dog for you! Noah is a dignified, older shepherd, who weighs in at nearly 100 pounds! He is very food-motivated and already knows sit and down. We think he may do well with other dogs, but more information is needed- if you have a dog of your own, we would be happy to schedule a meet and greet to see if it’s a good fit.

Story
Auntie Em is a beautiful, German Shepherd Dog/Pitbull mix (50/50 according to the DNA test). Her dark Brindle coat and copper eyes are simply stunning - this girl turns heads! She is about 3.5 years old and weighs 64 pounds. She is very smart, obedient, powerful, and full of energy. If you are interested, please research both breeds. High energy, working dogs require a lot of exercise and stimuli. Auntie Em is very particular with other animals. She has interacted with various sized dogs. Sometimes it's playful, sometimes it's not. She does not like when other dogs get in her face or show any excitement or dominance. There is not a lot of warning when she's upset. A new owner will have to work with her and learn her cues and how to redirect her. Her prey drive is there for little furry things too, therefore no kitties. Em would do best as the only pet. She has loved all the people she has met so far with proper introduction. She is CRAZY food motivated. Em will eat anything, but chicken seems to make her itchy. Poultry free diet for this girl! She is gentle when taking treats, but is a bit protective of her bowl and yummy treats. Because of this and her occasional bursts of energy (zoomies), no children under 12 in the household for this gal. Em will definitely benefit from some obedience training to polish her manners. She does know some basic commands. She will go in a crate, but she does not love it. Em can be trusted in the house alone as long as she has her toys. She LOVES her toys. She also loves to hang out on the couch and on the bed if you will let her. Em will go in the car just fine - she is a little anxious at first, but settles down. She is micro-chipped, UTD on vaccines and spayed. She does get seasonal allergies too, but it is easily controlled with medication as needed. Em is going to make a wonderful pet for the right owner. Story
Meet Rocco !! This sweet boy is really a wonderful dog. He is doing so well with his training and is very sweet and loyal. A really great companion. Rocco is an approx. 1 year old, male, German shepherd mix. He was very thin and has been steadily gaining back the lost pounds. He only weighs 40 pounds right now but is close to full grown. We expect him to thicken up a bit and be around 50 pounds at his healthy weight. He is already neutered, up to date on vaccines and microchipped. He is Heartworm negative and on monthly preventions. This sweet guy has been bounced around a lot due to no fault of his own. He was originally being given away on craigslist, then ended up extremely thin at a shelter. A very loving family adopted him but immediately suffered severe allergies they did not know they had to dogs. They kept him despite the allergies until we could male a safe spot for him. He is the best boy and just hasn’t been able to find his forever spot yet. He came to us and was adopted by someone that completely disregarded what we said up front about his exercise needs. He quickly became pent up and showed his anxiety leading them to return him. He was sent with some calming pills that should have lasted over a month. The adopter gave him all but 4 in only two weeks…. He was returned vomiting and having diarrhea. He’s doing better now but do not adopt him if you’re not willing to exercise him. It’s not fair to him. Be honest with yourself and your lifestyle. Rocco is a smart boy and learns fast. He is already very good with almost all of his training when exercised properly. He is potty trained and has not had any accidents. He is decent with his leash walking and loves car rides. The only thing he struggles with is some separation anxiety when left alone. He is currently crated but will whine and pace around in the kennel. We have found that this does not happen if he has had some good mental exercise prior to being put in the crate. If his brain is tired he can relax when alone. He has been good with other dogs he has met so far. He can be very active when playing so another tolerant or active playmate would be best for him. He is also fine as an only dog. He has not meet any cats or kids yet so we are unsure how he would do. He is very sweet and loving so we think he would do good with kids. Rocco has been really good so far and adjusted to his foster home quickly. He so far has not shown any issues with sharing food, treats or toys with humans. He has been great with all new people. He enjoys going on outings to the woods or pet friendly stores. He really loves being outside. He currently has a medium to high energy level. He is not super high strung all the time but he does need mental stimulation to keep the anxiety down when you leave him. A walk to sniff around in the woods, a 20 min obedience lesson or anything that gets his brain tired a few times a day works really well. He also loves walks, running around the yard, playing with other dogs and with toys. Once he has gotten that energy out he can be fairly relaxed around the house and likes to cuddle. Rocco has been a very sweet and loving boy. He is a beautiful young dog with a ton of potential. If you’re looking for a smart, loyal and fun dog then he may be your guy. Vet and home checks required. Located in Hampton VA. (He will need to be adopted within a 2 hour drive radius) ‼️Please message VillageDogResource@gmail.com directly with questions or to get an application. Story
Sarge is a lovable but protective dog. I have lived in an apartment for his entire life and he isn’t thriving the way he should be. My ex and I purchased him at the time because we thought we were going to own a house with a big yard. Unfortunately that was not the outcome and because of that he Sarge does not have the space he needs. He needs and alpha and someone who is willing to love home but also correct him when needed
