This is a program for dogs to learn basic commands and leash walking skills. It was such a scary and confusing time! I still remember shaking in my kennel at the big shelter, hoping no one would notice me. With time, I began to make friends and have some fun. And then the best thing ever happened, when I was chosen to go to a loving foster home! My foster mom has been teaching me manners and showing me what it feels like to be loved and cared for in a real home. Ah, life is good!I quickly made myself at home and settled into my new routine in foster. Knowing what to expect has helped to put me at ease. Foster Mom takes me out every 4-6 hours and right before bed for a bathroom break, which has helped to set me up for success with housebreaking. Bear is an excited, enthusiastic, and energetic dog that loves to have fun and play with the kids. He is an amazing dog and has been an awesome addition to our family. Unfortunately, due to children having health issues, we are no longer able to keep Bear and cannot provide the life he needs or deserves. This is a very hard decision as our family loves Bear, but he deserves to live a better life than we can provide.We do not want to have to give him to a shelter or put him down, that would be too heartbreaking. Hershey and Blue are two 7-month-old Pointer x Lab mix brothers who are ready for a fresh start and a chance at the life they’ve always deserved. They came to us as part of an unwanted litter, and unfortunately spent their early months outside without much exposure to the world around them. Because of this, they’re still learning many of the basics—things like walking on a leash, adjusting to new environments, and understanding life inside a home. Both boys are incredibly sweet at heart, but understandably a bit unsure as they navigate all these new experiences. They’ll need adopters who can offer patience, consistency, and compassion while helping them build confidence and learn essential skills. With time and gentle guidance, they are already showing us that they want to connect and trust—it just takes a little encouragement. Hershey and Blue will thrive in a home that understands they’re starting from scratch in many ways. Positive reinforcement training, a steady routine, and plenty of reassurance will go a long way in helping them blossom into happy, well-adjusted companions. These boys may require a little extra effort in the beginning, but the reward of watching them grow, gain confidence, and truly come into their own is something special. With the right person by their side, we have no doubt Hershey and Blue will become loyal, loving companions for years to come.
