Story
Harley is very destructive with her chewing. We had a trainer come in who taught her simple commands, but she still cannot get over her chewing. She has already destroyed 5 pillows, 5 fleece blankets, 2 comforters, 2 sprinklers, and other outside things like wooden step railings. She walks well on a leash and loves to go for walks. I am 72 years old and just cannot keep up with her.

Story
Birthdate: 1/10/2016Breed: One of a kindRemi is a good boy with everyone he meets! He especially loves to go out for his walks and spend time with his favorite volunteers. You will often find Remi in a play yard romping and hopping with his little tail wagging. Remi would do best in a home with an experienced owner, someone that can give him a loving routine and some exercise! If you are that person, you truly will have the best of friends in Remi. *Remi would love to get to know you better! Our behavior specialist can help you get to know him better with three training sessions! Email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information!*Before you can adopt, please complete an adoption questionnaire on our website at https://petstablished.com/adoption_form/36924/generic. If you have any questions, please email us at adoptions@pawscrossedny.org for more information. Please understand that we cannot hold any pets. All adoptions are done on a first come, first adopt basis for pre-approved applicants. The Shelter software system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our dogs. Visual breed identification in dogs is unreliable so for most of our dogs we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We encourage you to select your new companion by considering each dog's individual personality and pet qualities instead of relying on a breed label that is only a guess.March 7, 2026, 11:22 am

Story
I am going through a life change situation right now and I’m under a lot of stress mentally as well and I can barely take care of myself. Ven is 8 year old and turning 9 in 2027 March. I adopted him July 2020 from a shelter in NJ when he was 2. He used to be very energetic and he loves chasing squirrels. He now is much calmer but he’s in very good physical health. So he can be a good running partner He does need constant training with not pulling on the leash. He generally doesn’t do good with small animals. He’s scared of loud noises and does not like water. He’s house trained and knows basic commands. He could benefit from a home with a love for outdoors because he enjoys a lot of running and exploring. He’s very active.

Story
Jerry lab mix currently being fostered in Louisiana. Meet Jerry! 🐾❤️ Jerry and Ben were among 30+ dogs surrendered by Border Control. Most were German Shorthaired Pointers and were taken in by a breed-specific rescue. But Ben and Jerry looked a little more “Labby,” so they were left behind. That’s when NYSRR stepped up! ❤️ Both boys were unfortunately heartworm positive, but thankfully, they have successfully completed treatment and are ready for their forever homes! Jerry is the older, senior gentleman of the two—probably around 8 or 9 years old—and he is simply a sweet, easygoing boy. We think Ben and Jerry may be related, possibly father and son, but we really don't know for sure. Jerry has been hanging out with dogs big and small on Keri’s property in Louisiana and gets along just fine with everyone. He isn't looking for an action-packed life anymore. What this sweet senior wants is simple: a family to love him, respect him, spoil him, and let him enjoy the golden years he deserves. 🥰 Jerry has spent enough of his life without the comforts of a real family. Now it's his turn to experience soft beds, full bellies, gentle hands, and a whole lot of love. ❤️ We want Jerry’s next home to be his forever home—a place where he can spend the rest of his life in luxury and love. 🐾❤️ Who wants to give this sweet senior the happily-ever-after he deserves? lease NOTE, our dogs are NOT local - we partner with a rescue group in Louisiana, who gets these dogs before they end up in a shelter. We bring them up to the Northeast on paid transport. We also ask that adopters live within a 60 mile radius of Long Island. Why, because most of our volunteers and professional help are located on Long Island and we want to be available to help if needed. We ask all protentional adopters to please visit our website at NYSRR.com to fill out our online application. We follow up with a phone interview and remote home visit. All just an opportunity to get to know more about you, your family, your life style and your doggy experience.

Ben is currently in Louisiana. Meet Ben! 🐾 Ben and Jerry were among 30+ dogs surrendered by Border Control. Most of the dogs were German Shorthaired Pointers and were taken in by a breed-specific rescue. But Ben and Jerry looked a little more “Labby,” so they were left behind. That’s when NYSRR stepped up! ❤️ Both boys were unfortunately heartworm positive, but we’re happy to say they have successfully completed treatment and are ready for their next chapter! Ben is the younger of the two, and this boy is just happy, social, and easygoing! 🥰 The one thing Ben seems to have missed out on is structure. He really doesn’t know any commands yet—but he isn’t a bad dog. He simply hasn’t had much guidance in his life. The good news? Ben is people-motivated AND food-motivated (what a surprise for a Labby boy! 😂), which means he should be a great student once someone takes the time to show him the ropes. What Ben really wants is a yard, some people to love, and a family ready to give him the attention and guidance he craves. He’d love to have kids or adults to romp around with and, most importantly, a family who will help him learn how wonderful life can be. Ben is ready to trade his past for a forever family! ❤️🐾 Could you be the one to show Ben the way? lease NOTE, our dogs are NOT local - we partner with a rescue group in Louisiana, who gets these dogs before they end up in a shelter. Story
I'm Dutches, a 3-year-old tan Ridgeback-Pointer mix with a loyal heart and a gentle soul 🐾. I'm spayed, crate trained, and I do well with other dogs — I'd love to meet you and any canine companions you might have! I thrive in a quieter, rural setting rather than busy city life, and I'll do best with someone who has previous dog experience and patience with my shy nature 💛. I'm looking for a home with children 8 and older. If you're ready to give a sweet girl like me a calm, loving forever home, I'd be so grateful to meet you.
