Story
Hi there, I’m Wyatt Earp Spencer! You might see me listed as “Steve” in the system, but Wyatt’s my true name! I’m a handsome German Shorthaired Pointer, about 2 years old — though my energy and curiosity are still very much that of a playful puppy. My story hasn’t always been easy. I didn’t come from the best situation. I didn’t even know how to “dog” properly. But then — something amazing happened. A kind stranger saw everything and immediately stepped in! He picked me up, brought me to a place called the Dog Warden (a little scary, but also kind of cool), and from there I made my way to the Shelter. That very same day, my foster mom came to take me home. Since then, I’ve been living with her, her husband, the pack, and some cats (who I wish would play with me). I’ve been learning how to be a real dog — and I’m loving it. I’m now housebroken, I’ve learned to sit, and I’ve discovered this magical thing called treats! I do have some classic GSP traits — lots of energy, curiosity, and sometimes I act before I think. My foster mom jokes that I have “two brain cells fighting for third place.” I absolutely love people. I can be a little shy around adult and teenage males, but I warm up with a little time and kindness. I adore kids, other dogs, and yes, even cats (even if they won’t play). I do have a bit of separation anxiety — I get so attached that I’ll want to hold onto you, your shirt, your pants… We’re working on redirecting that to toys instead. I may gently nip when I’m trying to connect, but I’m learning better ways- and I’m a cuddle bug through and through. If I could climb right into your skin for a snuggle, I would. Ideally, I’m looking for a forever home with someone experienced with GSPs who understands our quirks and boundless love. I’m leash-trained, but I’ve also had the joy of roaming freely in a fenced yard. Just know: if you move, I’ll be right behind you — even if I was fast asleep a moment ago. Thank you for taking the time to get to know me. With love, Wyatt
