Story
Della is the runt of a litter of six - but being the “smallest” doesn’t stop her in the least! A born explorer, when not napping, she's ready to go! We think she is a Pointer mix, so she will be a large dog. Despite her young age, she's already good at keeping her crate clean overnight, but will need patience and consistency to perfect her overall housebreaking skills. She's smart and has learned several basic commands including sit, go to bed, leave it, and quiet. She loves her crate, and will often grab a toy or bone and escape to her personal space! Born in Mississippi to a stray dog, she’s currently in foster care with two littermates in Collingswood, NJ, which is where meet & greets will take place prior to adoption. Della is spunky, loving, and cuddly, Like all puppies, she needs regular naps throughout the day, frequent potty breaks, 3 meals per day, and tons of love and handling. Her perfect family will spend daily time playing with Della, working on training, and getting her used to all sorts of new things (socialization). A fur-sib and/or human children would be nice, but not essential, as long as she gets plenty of daily exercise and attention. A fenced yard is required, and continued use of a crate until she is completely housebroken and trust-worthy is absolutely essential.  Della had a recent health check-up and is up-to-date on core vaccinations. She is on monthly flea/tick and heartworm preventatives, and is microchipped.    DOB: 10/25/2023  Weight: 20.5 lbs  Physical fence required  Exercise and activity needs: Moderate to high  Shedding amount: Moderate  Grooming needs: Low  Reaction to new people: Friendly, curious  Good with other dogs Good with cats  Good with people; supervise with young children Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com for more info or an application. (Local adoptions preferred — Philadelphia and tri-state area [South Jersey and northern Delaware] only.) NOTE: Most puppies do best in the company of an older dog who can teach them "doggy manners," so homes with at least one other dog usually will be given preference in puppy adoptions. Please read Suzanne Clothier's wonderful article, "It Takes a Pack to Raise a Puppy!" PLEASE READ BEFORE CONTACTING US! We are NOT a shelter: All of our dogs live in private homes with foster families. Come and meet the Almost Home dogs and their fosters at our Meet & Greet events, where you can learn more about our wonderful dogs from the people who live with them, find out which dogs are on their way and when they’ll arrive, and fill out an application to adopt or foster. We cannot adopt to homes where electric-shock fencing systems or training collars are used. Story
Dottie is 25.8 lbs of pure love and motion, though she is still just a baby at a little over 3 months old. We think she is a Pointer mix, so she will be a large dog. Despite her young age, she's already good at keeping her crate clean overnight, but will need patience and consistency to perfect her overall housebreaking skills. She has already grasped some important basic commands including sit, go to bed, leave it, and quiet.  One of a litter of six puppies born to a stray in MIssissippi, she’s currently being fostered with 2 of her littermates in Collingswood, NJ, which is where meet & greets will take place prior to adoption. Despite being the largest female, she is more timid and needs encouragement to try new things. She is very affectionate, loves to be held and petted.  Dottie is a total sweetheart, smart, curious, and playful. When she's not rough-housing with other dogs at her foster’s home, she's learning manners and impulse control. Like all puppies, she requires regular naps throughout the day, frequent potty breaks, 3 meals per day, and tons of love, affection and handling.  Her perfect family will have time to spend with Dottie playing, socializing and training her. A fur-sib and/or human children would be nice but not essential, as long as she gets plenty of daily exercise, contact and attention, she will blossom. Due to her energy level and eventual size, a fenced yard is required. Continued use of a crate until Dottie is completely housebroken and trust-worthy is absolutely essential.   DOB: 10-25-23  Weight: 25.8 lbs  Physical fence required  Exercise and activity needs: Moderate to high  Shedding amount: Moderate  Grooming needs: Low  Reaction to new people: Friendly, curious  Good with dogs  Good with cats  Good with people; supervise with young children   Please email us at AlmostHome4Dogs@yahoo.com for more info or an application. Story
Meet Sage Girl, a 10-month-old mix of Pointer and Heeler! Sage is a bundle of joy whose playful spirit is sure to brighten your day. She is now 45 pounds but still has some filling in to do. Sage was found roaming the streets but luckily a Good Samaritan took her to safety. Her goofiness is infectious, leaving everyone she meets laughing at her funny antics. She's sweet too, always ready to give love and receive it in return. She wears a short brownish-black and white coat. Sage's youthful energy and playful nature make her the perfect companion for those who love an active lifestyle. Her sweet disposition makes her a great fit for families with other dogs. Adopt Sage and bring home not just a pet, but a loyal friend and a source of endless joy! (ME, 2/16/2024)         **It is rare that we know with certainty the ages or mixes that make up our dogs, but we do our best to be as accurate as possible based upon our experience. ** Adoption: $395 which covers quarantine, shots, worming, medical records, spaying/neutering, microchip and an Alabama State Health Certificate.   Transport, if needed  $160   We consider the transport to be of great importance and, as such, take particular care of the dogs during the trip . We make every effort to arrive with healthy and minimally stressed dogs.  March 25, 2024, 8:46 pm
