Story
Roo is looking for her forever home! Roo is a beacon of happiness, always radiating joy and enthusiasm. Her exuberance for life is evident in her wiggly and energetic nature, often hopping around like a playful goat when she is excited! Despite having some special medical needs, Roo has overcome challenges with resilience and is now seeking the perfect home to share her boundless joy.
This spirited pup loves meeting new people and is sure to bring a smile to your face with her silly antics. Her absolute favorite thing is playing with her beloved ball and witnessing her enthusiasm is a true delight! Her foster family can't get enough of the amusing noises she makes – from adorable snarfles to entertaining grumbles, Roo never fails to express her thoughts and feelings!
Roo is wonderful in the car and is always excited to be your copilot! After she’s gotten her energy out, she transforms into a cuddle bug. When it’s time to relax, she’ll snuggle up and tuck her little head in the crook of your arm, accompanied by the most precious snores!
Roo has faced some unique medical challenges that are believed to stem from a combination of mechanical and neurological issues. According to her neurologist, Roo has evidence of a skull malformation, likely from birth, causing her to be unable to open or close her jaw completely. She also has bilateral trigeminal neuropathy (big words for such a small babe!) which contributes to the lack of range of motion in her jaw as well as affecting sensation in her face and her eyes. Due to the lack of sensation in her eyes, she had one of her eyes removed that had been damaged before she came to us, and requires daily eye drops in the other to keep it healthy. Roo also needs softened food since she can’t chew properly.
Roo has been doing well with basic manners and training. With her medical conditions, we implemented creative strategies to help determine the most effective way to support her learning, and she is doing fantastic!
Roo was born in May of 2023, is a German Shorthaired Pointer, and weighs 30 pounds. If interested in adding this super special girl to your family, please fill out an application at https://www.forgottendogsrescue.com/adoption-application. Her adoption fee is $550 and she is spayed, up to date with vaccinations, and microchipped. Per our rescue policy, unless specifically noted in a dog's bio, we will not consider adoption applications from families with children under 5 years old.
