Meet Phoenix! Phoenix is just 1 year old and came to us after she and her sister, Phyllis, were found tied up at a local bus stop. She was terrified when she first arrived, but with some patience from our staff and volunteers, she’s slowly learned that people can be trusted. Phoenix is a higher-energy girl with plenty of puppy personality. She knows sit, loves to play fetch, and will actually bring her toys back when asked. She’s still working on perfecting her leash skills, but she’s manageable for her size and has plenty of time to learn. She’s also a very social girl who loves other dogs. She enjoyed playing with her sister while they were here and has shown that same friendly interest in other dogs. She loves attention from people too and will happily give you hugs once she knows you. Phoenix does have cherry eye, which is a visible protrusion of tissue from the inner corner of the eye. Our veterinary team will address it as part of her spay/adoption care. Phoenix has come a long way from the scared little dog who first walked through our doors. Now she just needs someone willing to keep building her confidence and give her the home she’s been waiting for. As always, we strongly recommend that resident dogs meet any new potential canine family members. If bringing a resident dog for a dog to dog test, please bring proof of Rabies, DHPP, and Bordetella vaccines. To meet/adopt, visit us in Greensboro, NC from 12-4pm any day except Tuesdays; no appointment needed.

We adopted Biscuit out to a lovely couple 3 years ago. Unfortunately they are having health issues and we need to find Biscuit a new home. Biscuit's pros: Amazing with kids of all ages, doesn't bark unless absolutely necessary, good with other dogs, loves attention and is loyal. Biscuit's con's: chases small animals like rabbits and squirrels, we are thinking no cats because of this, he is stubborn and afraid of thunder and fireworks. We said he is good with other dogs and he is but he can get protective with his owner when unknown dogs are around. Biscuit is special to us and we want to find him the perfect home. He will need a fenced yard for when he is out playing and doing his business. Check me out! I'm Megan* and even though I'm 10 years old, my foster says I have the energy of a three-year-old! I run and play with the best of them! I'm on the smallish side for a Golden Mix, just 50 pounds. I had heartworms when I got to TGRR so I've been with a foster family for many weeks while I've been treated to get rid of those horrible, dangerous things. During that time, I got along with most dogs, but sometimes I'm finicky about which canines I want to be friends with, so TGRR thinks it's best if I'm the only dog in your home. That's fine with me 'cause it means I'll get ALL the attention! I've not been around cats or kids so I don't know about them. I've got a couple of naughty traits, I must admit. If you leave me unsupervised, I get a little anxious and will look for things to chew up (socks, gloves, etc.), so it's best that your house remains puppy-proofed. The good news is that I crate well. I even go in my crate throughout the day and nap in there with the door open. And at bedtime, I curl up in my crate and don't make a peep so everyone in the house can get their beauty sleep. My other naughty trait is that I learned how to climb up the chain link fence and escape at my first foster home. So I need to go to a home that has a privacy fence. When I first walk on the leash, I pull a bit but I'm easily corrected and will walk beside you for the most part. If we walk to places I'm familiar with, you can count on me to walk with a loose leash. It's just new adventures that get me over-excited. But hey, that's how it goes with almost every dog, isn't it? I know how to sit on command for a treat (love me some treats) and will come when called. Foster Mom says I'm a fast learner, I'm smart, and that I'm eager to please. I'm always up for playing or going for a walk, but my favorite thing is a good cuddle. I hope you don't let my age deter you - I've got lots of life left in me and I'm hoping I can spend it with you!
