Story
Check me out! I'm Megan* and even though I'm 10 years old, my foster says I have the energy of a three-year-old! I run and play with the best of them! I'm on the smallish side for a Golden Mix, just 50 pounds. I had heartworms when I got to TGRR so I've been with a foster family for many weeks while I've been treated to get rid of those horrible, dangerous things. During that time, I got along with most dogs, but sometimes I'm finicky about which canines I want to be friends with, so TGRR thinks it's best if I'm the only dog in your home. That's fine with me 'cause it means I'll get ALL the attention! I've not been around cats or kids so I don't know about them. I've got a couple of naughty traits, I must admit. If you leave me unsupervised, I get a little anxious and will look for things to chew up (socks, gloves, etc.), so it's best that your house remains puppy-proofed. The good news is that I crate well. I even go in my crate throughout the day and nap in there with the door open. And at bedtime, I curl up in my crate and don't make a peep so everyone in the house can get their beauty sleep. My other naughty trait is that I learned how to climb up the chain link fence and escape at my first foster home. So I need to go to a home that has a privacy fence. When I first walk on the leash, I pull a bit but I'm easily corrected and will walk beside you for the most part. If we walk to places I'm familiar with, you can count on me to walk with a loose leash. It's just new adventures that get me over-excited. But hey, that's how it goes with almost every dog, isn't it? I know how to sit on command for a treat (love me some treats) and will come when called. Foster Mom says I'm a fast learner, I'm smart, and that I'm eager to please. I'm always up for playing or going for a walk, but my favorite thing is a good cuddle. I hope you don't let my age deter you - I've got lots of life left in me and I'm hoping I can spend it with you! We are pleased to announce that Megan’s veterinary coverage is partially sponsored by Vintage Fur Senior Dogs Inc! Megan will receive $600 every year in veterinary coverage for the rest of her life. This money may be used to treat conditions and treatments including prescription medication, bloodwork, imaging and more. To learn more about the sponsorship, please visit https://www.vintagefur.org

Story
Kenny is a 5-year-old gentle giant with an even bigger heart! Weighing in at 115 pounds, this lovable boy is convinced he`s the perfect lap dog and will happily climb into your lap for cuddles and kisses if you`ll let him. Kenny enjoys the best of both worlds. He`s always up for lounging on the couch with his favorite people, but he also loves spending time outdoors, stretching his legs and exploring. Although he`s carrying a few extra pounds, it doesn`t stop him from enjoying life. Kenny has participated in playgroup, where he politely greeted the other dogs before choosing to do his own thing. He enjoys their company but is perfectly content entertaining himself after saying hello. Above all else, Kenny loves people. His affectionate personality, goofy charm, and constant desire to be close to his humans make him impossible not to love. If you`re looking for a loyal companion who will fill your home with love (and happily take up a little extra space on the couch), Kenny is ready to meet you at Burlington Animal Services!

Story
Meet Freedom, a 7-month-old boy with a big personality and even bigger puppy energy! This handsome guy is always ready for his next adventure and loves staying on the go. Freedom can be a little skittish when meeting new people, but give him a few minutes and you'll quickly meet the goofy, carefree pup hiding underneath. He absolutely loves scratches—especially belly rubs and chin scratches—and once he trusts you, he's all about having fun. Like any awkward teenager, Freedom is still growing into those extra-long legs, and he isn't afraid to use them! His favorite staff member lovingly says he likes to "throw hands," happily smacking his paw into your palm whenever he wants to play. In fact, while learning "sit," Freedom decided that wasn't exciting enough and basically taught himself "paw" because he wanted to keep the fun going. This smart, affectionate boy is eager to learn, eager to please, and ready to fill his future home with laughter, love, and endless adventures. If you're looking for a playful best friend who will keep you smiling every single day, Freedom is ready to be your light in the dark.
