Story
This is very hard for us, but we want to find the best home for Buddy. We rescued him at about 5 months after he’d been hurt by other dogs, and we’ve loved him deeply ever since. He’s a sweet, happy boy who adores cuddles, playtime, and does amazing with our female Golden Retriever. His challenge is leash reactivity. He doesn’t respond to standard collars, and even with a harness he becomes reactive around people and dogs. Off-leash he’s wonderful, friendly, and playful, and he thrived when he had a yard and space to explore. Apartment living and stairs have made things harder, especially when my husband travels for weeks at a time. We want Buddy to have a home where he can feel confident and understood. He needs someone familiar with Chow mixes or protective breeds who can give him structure, patience, and love. We could never send him to a shelter. We just want him safe, happy, and with someone who truly sees his heart.

Valentina is a playful, confident puppy with a big personality and an even bigger love for fun. She adores toys, is highly food-motivated, and happily settles in for cuddle time once playtime is over. She’s still learning the basics—like leash walking and crate training—but she’s a smart girl who catches on quickly. With another friendly dog in the home to show her how it’s done, we think Valentina would absolutely flourish. If you’re looking for a bright, snuggly pup full of energy and heart, Valentina might just be the perfect addition to your family!

Violet is a bright, curious puppy who came to PAWS from the San Marcos Regional Animal Shelter along with her mom and seven siblings. Most of her littermates have already found their homes, and now it’s Violet’s turn! This girl is full of personality—depending on who you ask, she’s either mischievous or simply inquisitive! Violet learns new things quickly, though she definitely adds her own little attitude to the process, which just makes her even more charming. She plays wonderfully with other dogs and would be a great match for a home with canine friends. She hasn’t been tested with kids or cats yet. Violet is essentially potty trained (being outside is one of her favorite things!), and she’s also crate trained. She may cry for a few minutes when first settled in her crate, but she calms down and does well. If you’re looking for a smart, outdoorsy pup with a playful spark and lots of love to give, Violet might be your perfect match!
