** This dog is not in the direct care of HTHH - we are assisting in rehoming him from his current owner. If you are interested in him, please fill out an application at https://www.happytailshappyhomes.org/adoptionform ** 🐾 Meet Raleigh 🐾 Breed: Golden Retriever / Great Pyrenees mix Age: ~1 year Sex: Male Color: Tan Raleigh is a smart, affectionate, and highly trainable young dog who is deeply bonded to his people. In his home and with those he knows, he is sweet, obedient, and loving. He enjoys snuggling on the couch, belly rubs, and quietly entertaining himself with toys or chews—though he’s always happy to rest his head on your lap when he wants a little extra attention. Raleigh is fully house trained and even rings a bell at the door when he needs to go outside. He has excellent house manners overall and responds well to cues like “leave it.” He is comfortable being crated, settles well, and can be crated for several hours while his people are away. He is quiet when left alone and does not bark excessively. This is a dog who thrives on structure, routine, and training. Raleigh has been working consistently with a professional trainer at Puget Hound since late November and currently knows Sit, Come, Heel, Place, and Stay. He trains daily, is food-motivated, and responds very well to guidance. With continued training and management, he has shown steady progress—especially in learning how to redirect frustration appropriately by choosing toys instead of unwanted behaviors. 🐕 With Other Dogs: Raleigh does very well with other dogs and enjoys playing with dogs of all sizes. He attends dog daycare twice a week, goes to the dog park regularly, and has boarded successfully. He has not shown aggression toward other dogs and tends to be submissive if another dog becomes pushy. 👨‍👩‍👧 With People: Raleigh is protective and wary of strangers, especially when they approach or interact with his people. He will bark and can become reactive with unfamiliar individuals. Slow, structured introductions using his “Place” command have been successful, and he settles once he understands the situation. Because of this, Raleigh needs an experienced, dog-savvy home that is committed to continued training and proper management. A home without frequent visitors would be ideal. 🏡 Ideal Home: Raleigh would do best in a quiet, structured home with confident, experienced owners who understand protective or reactive behaviors and are willing to continue professional training. A securely fenced yard is a plus, as he enjoys patrolling and relaxing outdoors. He loves car rides, though busy pedestrian areas can be overstimulating for him. Raleigh is a loyal, intelligent young dog with enormous potential. With the right environment, clear boundaries, and ongoing training, he will thrive as a devoted companion to someone who understands and appreciates his protective nature. Raleigh comes with all of his medical records.

Story
Reggie is a big, fluffy “golden teddy bear” who lives for two things: a great play session and an even better couch cuddle- ideally in that order! He’s goofy, affectionate, and once he’s decided it’s time to rest, he turns into a full-body snuggle puddle who wants to be close, preferably on the couch with you. Simply, Reggie’s motto is “Play hard. Sleep hard.” Watch Reggie in action on YouTube (and fall in love responsibly): https://youtu.be/GkfXkf0BkqU Quick stats, Reggie is estimated to be around 3 years old and about 85 lbs. Breed is a best guess since he’s a rescue, but we’re seeing strong Golden Retriever + Great Pyrenees + maybe a sprinkle of Shepherd. Translation- big, handsome, Beyonce moment gorgeous coat, and a lot of Pixar-level-cuteness.. Let’s talk about what Reggie needs to succeed, do not be blinded by his good looks, you still have to get to know him. This boy is a social butterfly, he plays beautifully with dogs, passed a daycare evaluation with flying colors, and has that “let’s be friends!” vibe from go. Other scenarios can look different, passing a dog in a tight hallway, driving by a dog on the sidewalk, or a cutie friend across the street- this is when Reggie’s friendly nature gets the best of him and he looses his best-boy manners. Sounds like my five year old son in some ways. He will make it clear he wants to meet that dog usually by pulling himself their way or even barking, and given his size, if you are unaware of this it can be a lot to manage. This isnt Reggie being reactive, he just gets excited and frustrated that life isn’t all dog-parks and friends so spontaneous playmates could just happen. Basically, he wants to get to the exciting new friend, not hurt it. Knowing this, here is what Reggies best-match home looks like: • A quieter environment (ideally a house, or at least low dog-traffic walks) where training can actually happen without constant surprises. • A person who’s ready to keep building on his training. . He is a smart boy and food-motivated, which makes him a great training partner. Channeling that is key! • A lifestyle that enjoys and supports the “Play hard. Sleep hard” lifestyle. Truly it is an environment all dogs thrive off of- a consistent routine, regular adventures and dog+dog playtime, along with enrichment that tires his brain out in a good way- think puzzle toys, snuffle mats, treat games, etc. Inside the home, Reggie has a ton going for him. He is perfectly content relaxing on his own and doesn’t get worried when you step out or are out of his site. He can occasionally use his bark to communicate but this is easily addressed wiith structure, enrichment, and the mindset that quiet earns rewards. He loves long-lasting chews like Whimzees and beef cheeks- if he is quiet he gets a long-lasting treat that only helps enforce that quiet contentedness. Reggie is both house and crate trained, we love that! Reggie is at ease and relaxes once he is in his crate but will hesitate about going in at first. His previous foster shares that this is easily addressed with routine and gentle training, really stressing that a little effort pays off fast. Now, we know Reggie loves an adventure and for most of us those big, fun adventures involve getting in a car. Reggie is all about getting in the car, he loves loves loves a window seat more than anything! But to Reggie, both sides of the car are his window-seat, Now it doesnt bother me one bit but just know, Reggie will bop back and forth while driving to catch the view on both sides. This is easy to remedy with secure buckling and a ‘car-calm” practice but i will tell you, its hard to be mad when you know he is just so excited by the big-wide-world and everything int it. Let’s not forget, beside those gorgeous good looks he is also an absolute sweetheart! Let’s hit the highlights- he is dog-social, affectionate, loves snuggling, and he’s been described as the kind of big lap dog who can’t get close enough once he knows you are playing for keeps. He also previously passed a cat test with calm curiosity, and because he can be bouncy when excited, we recommend kids 8+ so no one gets accidentally love-tackled. Please know, Reggie is NOT “too much dog”. We love honesty and know that the absolute best dog can be anything but if they are put into the wrong environment. Reggie is a great dog who needs the right environment for that greatness to shine. In that environment, you are guaranteed a boy with the happiest romps, snuggles galore, and one loyal, gorgeously glam dream sidekick. https://adopt.animalsfirst.com/animal/62cc8e128b02916730334440/68efc6d2773f3663c0039b10 Questions? FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Meet Lady! She is a friendly, 8-year-old, 79 lb Golden Retriever/Lab mix who came to us from an overcrowded shelter in CA in hopes of finding her forever home here in WA! Lady is a very sweet dog that walks well on leash and loves to go on adventures. Overall, she walks well on a leash, but she is a strong girl and will pull on the leash should she see something she’d like to check out. She already knows basic commands such as "sit" and "shake" and takes treats gently. Lady is very smart and a quick learner, which will make training a breeze! She would love a home with a yard where she can explore and lounge! Due to her size and strength, we are recommending kids over 10 years old. She can be dog selective, so her ideal home would be a one dog household where she can soak up all the love and attention from her people. Overall, Lady is an awesome dog with so many great qualities and would love to spend the rest of her days in a loving forever home rather than a commercial kennel. She will make a great adventure companion and wonderful addition to any lucky household. Lady is spayed, microchipped and up to date on vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $400.

FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED: Say hello to Binks! He is a 1 1/2-year-old, 50lb Golden Retriever/Pit Bull mix, who came to us as a stray from an overcrowded shelter in CA. He is one big butterball of love! He is very sweet but is strong and can be bouncy and mouthy so he will need an adopter who is committed to working on his overall basic obedience skills with him. He is very smart, and food motivated and does well with training. He is generally well behaved, loves meeting new people and does well in a crate. He does well with other dogs, but mostly enjoys attention from his people. He loves to crawl and roll around in the grass and would love a home with a securely fenced yard where he can run, play and crawl. We are recommending no young children due to his bouncy nature right now. He is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped and neutered. His adoption fee is $450.

Story
Meet Buddy! 🐾 Buddy is a 2-year-old, 55lb Golden Retriever/Husky who came to us from an overcrowded California shelter after his owner could no longer care for him. He’s had a rough start, but this bright, goofy boy is ready for a fresh beginning and a forever home that will give him the love and consistency he deserves. Buddy is incredibly smart and eager to please, and he loves people and bonds quickly with his humans. True to his breeds, he’s a mix of playful and mellow: he can romp around like a puppy one minute, then settle down for a quiet nap by your side the next. He’s food motivated but surprisingly gentle when taking treats and not protective of his food. He’s also a pro at fetch and loves showing off his retrieving skills! Buddy is working on his confidence around other dogs. He can be wary and reactive at first, and with some dogs more than others. Because of this, he’ll do best in a home where he’s the only dog and with a patient adopter committed to continued positive training and slow introductions. As Buddy is still working through some reactivity around other dogs, he is not suited for busy city life or an apartment. We are looking for adopters for Buddy that have a family that has a free-standing home and a fenced backyard. He’s house-trained, sleeps soundly through the night beside your bed, and won’t stir until you do. Buddy dos have some separation anxiety that his forever home should be prepared to work through, he thrives when he’s close to his people and in a calm, predictable environment. Buddy with do best in a home with multiple people for support, training, and so he isn’t left alone often while he is working on gaining confidence being left alone. Buddy listens well to simple corrections like “hey” or “no,” especially when he’s tempted to sneak a peek at the countertop buffet. Above all, he’s a loving, affectionate companion who just wants to be near his people and be part of their world. Buddy has so much heart and potential—he just needs a home that can offer structure, patience, and a lot of love. Buddy is not your typical ‘golden retriever’ despite his looks, and will need an experienced family that can help him gain confidence and refine his training. In return, you’ll get a loyal, fun, and endlessly rewarding best friend. 💛 Buddy is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.
